Growing up in poverty, Sunny never expected anything good from life. However, even he did not anticipate being chosen by the Nightmare Spell and becoming one of the Awakened — an elite group of people gifted with supernatural powers.

Transported into a ruined magical world, he found himself facing against terrible monsters — and other Awakened — in a deadly battle of survival.

What’s worse, the shadow powers he received happened to possess a small, but potentially fatal side effect… Collapse

This is gonna have a spoiler, read if you wanna know though.
People dropped the novel at the point I personally would call, the peak of plot hooks.

I Can, and have in other comments, go into great detail as to why I call it the way I call it and why I personally liked what happened, but read the novel and make up your own mind.

I get it, but wait out at least until the novel is finished. This novel has some nice moments, and comparing it to LOTM based on just two sections is unfair.

By the same logic why are calling it nice because of some moments, wait out at least until the novel is finished. Its mighty unfair of you to say its good when this one is not even finished.

I've never said it's good. I mentioned that there were some nice moments in the novel, and I don't need to wait until the ending to say that I like it, I have to wait only if I want to compare it with another novel

A little slow paced but is very detailed. But most details are important and will be needed in future. Author seems to already have whole storyline in his mind. Just go ahead and read it.

Finally after a long time i have found something beautiful. Don't be fooled by the ratings and just give this novel a try. It has a very innovative power system. It does have a system (universal kind, every human possesses one) but it's not op, infact it's just like a summary page really. MC is called sunny and he is a poor dude who got powers. He has a big of stupid, emotional
character but at the same time can do what's needed, even if it pains him.

The MC will be one of the biggest cons for most people so bewarned, till chapter 300-400 MC doesn't act like a typical mc but more like a side character, not because he wants to but because he simply isn't powerfull, knowledgeable or ambitious enough. But from what promises author has made, MC will slowly develop into something bit more desirable but, u will still have to endure him just not being powerful enough to be relevant for atleast 300 chapters

Now one of the Biggest plus point of the novel. World. It's jusr too good. Not even Brandon Sanderson's worlds have made me feel the same way as this novel. It's well written and it's horrifying, it makes your skin crawl and u will definitely feels it's eldritch horrorness, it's messed up vibe.

Give this a try, as of at chapters 380, it's comparable to LoTM truthfully, and i don't say these words lightly.

Ps- rate this novel too if u like it, cause i just can't bear these manipulated ratings...

It takes 300 something chapters for the main character to develop... The novel is peak quality from the beginning. The writing is really good, the world is good and so is the side characters and main character is not bad imo but people have been reading webnovels for so long that they can't digest a non chad, realistic mc. Given MC's situation and the shit he had to go through i doubt any realistic person would be able to survive. What i meant is that it takes 300 chapters for the mc to be fleshed out till the level where he is able to start establishing his footing, his status.

I really don’t understand why everyone treats LOTM like some gold standard. Sure, it is one of the best web novels out there, but that isn’t saying much. Webnovels are like fast food - low quality, easy time killers/entertainment. Yeah, LOTM might be like the McDonalds of fast food, but when compared to legitimate novels, it is mediocre at best

But LoTM is the best webnovel. Whats the point of comparing everything to Kingkiller or Stormlight when they wont ever be able to live up to it? Sure, when a Webnovel as good as Books come, then i will compare it to them.

I was looking for something to read, I remembered this WN that I dropped and I came across your comment, at the time it came to my mind why I stopped reading this WN, the first arc was beautiful but by the time the second came around i felt so disconnected from the story that it didn't feel like another arc it felt like another story and picking up the spoilers from the commentary section, I wouldn't like the outcome of the 2nd arc, I thought it would be a story that he was going to escape slavery anyway and apparently he still forgives the girl, the author still killed mine hope of him killing his master with this bs of "truth", honestly I would find it better to change the role with the master and follow the story through her vision since that's how it is.

Because silence means yes, and that is a lie boast I have no idea man, for story progression probably but commonly, a lack of answer is also an answer, so maybe the author is going with that logic.

Silence does not mean yes, If i ask a girl if she's fine with having sex and she doesn't reply it's a no, if I assume it's a yes then it'd be rape, silence is just abstaining from answering the person who asks questions is the one who tends to either take silence as a yes or a no

Think of the flaw as more of "Can't withhold the truth". That way, staying silent, is prohibited.

I do think of it that way now, but author not wording it properly at the beginning itself is definitely a mistake on his part. Most of the times, I just wish that the flaw remains as it was described in the beginning. So I get frustrated since the flaw is way too unfair aa it is now rather than the description.

Well, rather than the description, what's important is the name of the flaw (as the novel shows, names are important with the spell). "Clear conscience" can be considered not only about being unable to lie, but also about being compelled to tell the truth, in a way.
Anyway, if he way only restricted to being unable to lie, it would be too easy for him, wouldn't it

Aim higher. What is truth? The absence of lies? Or a declaration of fact? What then is the truth if the fact is a lie? Will the spell still compel him to speak the truth if he genuinely believes that what he is saying is the truth but it is actually a lie?

Dont think too deeply, author doesnt have the brain to comprehend something so profound or he'd make his MC stfu when its inconvinient.

When I first read it, I dropped it because it was so boring. BUT! reading this again and with CALM, I realize how foolish I was! why? the plot, character development, interactions, mystery, world building... everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is very well done! the reason it has so many bad reviews is because people on this site have gotten used to junk romances, and when something good comes along, those people can't identify it. anyway, I recommend reading calmly and immersing yourself in reading, this is a beautiful literary work.
