Growing up in poverty, Sunny never expected anything good from life. However, even he did not anticipate being chosen by the Nightmare Spell and becoming one of the Awakened — an elite group of people gifted with supernatural powers.

Transported into a ruined magical world, he found himself facing against terrible monsters — and other Awakened — in a deadly battle of survival.

What’s worse, the shadow powers he received happened to possess a small, but potentially fatal side effect… Collapse

Character: None to begin with. He went from manipulator with the qualities needed to survive—a character with distinct looks and values shaped by his experiences, with the potential to rise to the top at the end of Volume 1—to a whiny, dull, beta-boy idiot who can't even look at a girl without cowering.
Behaving like an indecisive teenage in love.
Insulting everyone he meets with “truth”, and never learns from his mistakes to repeat them over and over.
"How did we get here?" Women. Aka Nephis, aka star of RUIN, who basically assassinated mc personality becoming his personal drug. In the most recent chapters, he's essentially an edgelord. 1/5

My biggest gripe with this novel. sigh

I don't understand. You saw a group of people having fun, you go there and see what they're doing, didn't like it and call them losers. You go away but turn back to see them still having fun, not giving a shit about your opinion. And here you are instead of moving on like a normal "winner', came back again to bark about your 'right' opinion while everyone is ignoring you.

    Why are you still here?
Do you have no friends of your own?
Is it because you are a 'winner' than you are alone?
Is life in the real world too hard on you that you are bitching here for attention and begging for laurels.

What do you mean, winner? People are questioning me, I'm answering them. Simple as that.
Also, people who are having fun don't return to this comment section. They would go to the novel to read the chapters.
My comment is for other readers to warn them of this novel's cons. AIn't nothing wrong with that. whoknows

I like this novel but people need to stop saying that this is the best piece of fiction, this not on the level of books like Dune and Snow Crash. Please stop saying this for Sunny and Nephis as well, I’m sorry but there are more developed male and female leads. G3 is a good writer and he is continuing to grow but the edits and comments about this webnovel are growing out of control.

This was my first web novel. I'm looking for other good ones, and i just searched up the two you've mentioned, but nothing came up. Could you give me some recommendations? I'm not really looking for anything specific, just well written and entertaining.

Leave it to masochists with slave kink to defend this novel. Dislike all you want, but unless you give solid reasoning, there's no way this novel is good as LOTM. YOU ARE REACHING if you're comparing this to LOTM, lmfao! kleesmug

    EDIT:
Also, some idiot is disliking all my comments. But know this: I won't change my opinion if you don't come out in the open and give solid reasoning.
And it shows, since some idiots don't even have something to say. They can't deny; they are just frustrated that someone has a different opinion than them. sigma

I like this novel more than Lord of the Mysteries. Not saying lotm isnt good but it is harder to digest.

This novel world building is really good, especially later on. Ive had several mindblown moments and i rrally love the arcs with the time manipulation. Wont say anything more cus of spoils ^^

But lotm is more of a serious read where you have to pay attention to every detail

The problem that I have is with Sunny, not the world-building. If you can provide reasons that the main character is worth reading this novel for, then I would read. But so far, I've only heard how he is a slave, doesn't have a strong personality, has Stockholm syndrome, and glazes the female MC, etc.

Not sure what glazing means and i dont know till how far uve read, but sunny gets a lot of character development. Hes calculating and cunning, granted he stays clueless regarding some things but that also stems from his wariness of being around people.

Honestly hes my fav character from all the novels ive read. Im at chapter 1843.

To “glaze” someone means to feed them compliments that are so over-the-top that they come across as cringe-worthy or phony.
And please tell me his personality changes for the better. If not, its not worth reading.
It's like people saying "trust me bro, One Piece gets better after 600 episodes...". If I have to wait for that long, I'd rather not read at all.

Yeah it does, it already changes a bit near the end of the first nightmare. But even more when that nightmare ends.

How are you judging it as bad without even reading it?
Sunny is a slave? So what? It doesn't work in any way you imagine, it's not a negative thing, it's a story.
Stockholm syndrome? Not really. It's hard to address this without spoilers, but again, it doesn't work in a way you imagine.
Doesn't have a strong personality? Not true. He doesn't have an ambition other than survival at the beginning, but even then he is never really meek.
Not sure what you meant by glazing, but when he sees a stunning girl, he thinks to himself "that's really hot girl", but doesn't says it out loud(usually) and pretends to be nonchalant.

First nightmare is a good template for his character, its first 15 chapters or something and it will show you how he acts when shoved into impossible situation and how he overcomes it. His character develops a lot, but honestly i wouldn't even describe it as him getting "better", he just changes, for example i like how ruthless he was at the beginning.

The reason I don't read is because I don't wanna wait hundreds of chapters before it gets 'good'. Also, Idc if it's spoiler, use spoiler tag and explain how does he changes for the better.

The beginning of the novel and it's first arc considered peak by many, and i don't disagree with that, so you really don't need to wait for anything.
I already explained to you that Sunny was never bad MC, and honestly you should just read the first nightmare, it's just 15 chapters, but if you are that lazy, fine.

At the beginning he is anti-social, spiteful, selfish, manipulative, treacherous bastard. He acts weak, because it's beneficial to him and also reasons, but he is fated to be involved in all sort of messes and draw attention to himself. He gets some friends and becomes less rough with time, but also becomes stronger and more ambitious. The stronger he gets, the more he acts on that strength to fulfill his goals.
And here you are worried that MC is not good enough for you, just because he is a slave? Trust me, again, it is not how it seems and your fears are groundless, the slave thing won't play out how you imagine it.

Bruh, you are saying everything except what I am asking for. It's like you are deliberately avoiding my question. Being slave isn't even my biggest gripe, nor him being stronger and annilihating god knows what. I'm asking if he stops being a bitch of stockholm syndrome and improves his personality, and no longer glazes the fmc.

It's not glazing. He's in obsessive head-over-heels love. He's actually so in love that he f#cked himself over big time in a major plot event over her. It is clearly apparent you have never loved. Imagine going up to a couple and asking the boyfriend to stop glazing his girlfriend.
