Growing up in poverty, Sunny never expected anything good from life. However, even he did not anticipate being chosen by the Nightmare Spell and becoming one of the Awakened — an elite group of people gifted with supernatural powers.

Transported into a ruined magical world, he found himself facing against terrible monsters — and other Awakened — in a deadly battle of survival.

What’s worse, the shadow powers he received happened to possess a small, but potentially fatal side effect… Collapse

LMAO I confused this book with Shadow Hack which I read back during COVID and had been confused for years with why people were glazing Shadow Slave so hard. Gonna give it a try now.

Probably you'll have to marinate for 2 years more.

Going forward, the story will pick up steam and carry him (Sunny) and his companions to a conclusion — in slightly more than a year, we will most likely reach the end. Wow! I'll finally be free! :]

This is from GuiltyThree's latest announcement.

1 month break announced by G3 on Discord:

          Hey, @everyone!

Today, I published the final chapter of Volume Ten, Dark Lord's Dreadful Travelogue. I think I promised to write a few shorter volumes the last time… needless to say, I failed! :]
In truth, I love web novels as a genre in part because they are vast and sprawling, capable of allowing the story to meander and go on amusing side adventures. Shadow Slave is gradually approaching the finish line, though, so this was my last chance to fit a few such adventures into the story — so, in the end, I decided to put them all into one volume instead of a few.
Hopefully, you enjoyed Sunny’s escapades on a tour of the Great Citadels of humanity. Going forward, the story will pick up steam and carry him and his companions to a conclusion — in slightly more than a year, we will most likely reach the end. Wow! I'll finally be free! :]
So, I have a little announcement to make. Usually, I would take one day off after finishing a volume. This time, however, I will be taking about a month off instead. Having spent close to four years writing without a break, I need time to recharge and plan out the last volumes of Shadow Slave carefully — so I will see you all again around Christmas!

Might be just slightly more than 300 or almost 400 chapters until completion now. After the 10th volumes, G3 said it gonna take that long after some consideration. It's gonna be fast after this.

    Review of Shadow Slave:

I lack the incredible literacy and comedic talents of talented masters like brother Ink, but I will try my hand at writing a review of this story since it is a good read honestly:

Characters: Masterful - If you enjoy well developed characters, a top-tier protagonist and a female lead that transcends the bounds of well defined sanity straight into the abyss of madness, this is for you.

Plot: This jumps from one arc into another, each arc like a hammer shaping the characters and the world building of this world. Each arc, a harbinger of a dark fantasy becoming darker and the world more malicious in it's machinations.

World Building: Masterful and expansive. The world with each arc stacks bricks with the final goal of making a tower. Each arc is memorable, each region you will encounter unique in some way relative to the plot, each character a being beyond bounds of good and evil.

Protagonist: It is ironic but in this world and setting, Sunny is quite the unlikely protagonist, compared to the female protagonist, you get the feeling that Sunny is the protagonist that we do not need, but we deserve. Excuse the batman analogies, but overall Sunny is an incredibly likeable protagonist in all of his facets and he is one that experiences a lot of physical and mental growth thorough the story.

    Overall verdict: Masterpiece
    Recommendation: Must-read

    Too many non consequential fights.
It's mostly just fights with bits and pieces of story mixed in, the opposite of LOTM(not comparing just an example as most people have read LOTM).
I don't have so much of a vivid imagination nor do I know about how most of these fighting techniques works to visualise these. I would rather "watch" fights than read it, I read novels mostly for their compelling story. So not upto my taste. Left at chapter 1780 for now.

Oh no, my action novel has too many similiar action sequences with little to no change. And if you have read my comments i mentioned I don't prefer action in "words". Not my thing. I have read too many novels with action genres that are more story than action. No one is asking you to not read it. It's just not my thing, and I think you should learn to expect not everyone to be in the same boat. If they are, boy you are living in an echo chamber.

Fights are integral to the story and there's literally none that are inconsequential to it, your comment it's just not true. You just don't like it and that's okay, take it and move on no need for the ragebait comment with fake moral superiority. Also, personal comment, the fights are fire, best fight scenes I've ever read on a light novel. Another personal comment bro if you lack imagination books are not for you, i suggest you watch: "Dora the explorer" should be the right show for your toddler level brain.

Too much misery. Sunny’s life is one long torture session with just enough small wins to keep you hooked.

Even when he actually wins, it’s either a pyrrhic victory or it gets instantly wiped out by a stronger enemy next. He keeps getting betrayed, tricked, or enslaved by the people around him, and somehow he’s still forced to work with them. There’s never any satisfying revenge or real clapback.

I want to feel happy, excited, or at least entertained while reading in the little free time I have, not angry, disappointed, and frustrated after every chapter.
