          Shadow Slave is genuinely... Good. Not "good for a web novel" — Good.

          It has a protagonist with psychological depth, a world with depth and architecture, and this is my personal fav: a tonal control that most authors in this space never achieve, and enough genuine feeling in its best moments to stick with you

          I'll be honest with the flaws too: length, repetition, occasional narrative sag. But the foundation is strong enough, I think, that you'll find yourself not minding them much, or powering through them.

          If you're already reading it, you're in good hands. If you're deciding whether to start — yes, start. The first volume alone is worth it.

        imho, Shadow Slave is genuinely good. Not just... "good for a web novel" — it's Good. With a capital G. I repeated it three times coz it's important.
        A protagonist with psychological depth, a world with real depth and good intellectual architecture(the best I've seen is LoTM but who compares it to that? that thing is a beast), tonal control that most authors never achieve(it's genuinely hard, trust me), and enough genuine feeling in its best moments to stick with you.

        I'll be fair and list its flaws: length, repetition, occasional narrative sag. But the foundation is strong enough that you'll want to stick with it (i said 'want', not that you 'will', because exhaustion is a real thing for WNs with millions of words and thousands of chapters...)

        If you're already reading it, you're in good hands. If you're deciding whether to start — yes, start. The first volume alone is worth it.

      yup, i will prob pre-order, also for anyone that is planning to but hasnt yet pre order from Barns and Nobles and if u cant then do it with amazon if possible, if not then wherever you'd like, I say this because the author said pre orders from those 2 places are the most important because they have the most shelf space, Barnes & Nobles being the best and Amazon 2nd.

    Everytime i meet such forced drama i'm evade novel as plague. Idk why english originals authors so love to put mc to rock bottom and below. Moreover why readers read such trash? One day just full webnovel top was about it.
    Maybe they want to show how mc grow but where they get so much self confidence about their writing skills? It's not so easy to show personality changes from absolute bottom to the top. Even for good psychologist such changes will really hard to describe.

    But here we don't even see any sign of author willing to make good development of mc. Just authors wish fulfillment about mental damaged teen (why author wishes it is different question) especially with this bullshit about "mc have to speak and speak only truth" + slave thing. I met such restriction some times in novels and everytime characters have choice like: not to speak; speak part of all info; speak truth that not related to question (Q:what your name? A: Friends call me Potato) and so. Here mc only can broke his throat to become niggardly.

    Been reading for a while (more than half way) and it’s pretty frustrating how much the author nerfs Sunny. Since the beginning of the Antarctica Arc he’s never been at full power. Always being handicapped one way or another. Plus there’s another character that is constantly getting buffed by the author and blessed with insane plot armor.

    Edit: still a great novel though and honestly I just pretend like that guy that gets pampered by the author doesn’t exist. Btw Mc is still very very broken even with the nerfs
