This is a real surprising find.
While it can't be ranked as a Masterpiece such as Lord of Mysteries or Nightfall, this novel —for a Chinese Light-Novels— it is like a compromise between a seriously written Nightfall, and insipid but entertaining common chinese light-novels.
One thing that I particularly enjoyed is the fact that the author had managed to well-balance (well, a bit biased on the MC's side) the numerous characters. The enemies aren't stupid, the supporting characters aren't insipid, and, most of all, for a common, stereotype Deadbeat MC... (cold, ruthless, selfish, logical, and lack of any emotional potential), the MC is rather humane, thus likeable.
One of my favorite character is the MC's Senior Brother. The way the author portrayed it is not only comical, but also, strangely to say, realistic in character.
At the least, for myself, it totally reminded me of one of my 'senior bother' of mine, who used to annoy me to no-end, dragging me all the times to all those events or what-nots.
In summary, all in all, this is one those chinese gems among germs.
The world of cultivation is very interesting, the characters are lively, and the plots are well formulated.
I simply hope that it stays at the least that way.
Recommond it for all who enjoy Cultivation Novels.
Miss it at your own loss.

Man this is very good, I recommend it, at first I wasn't enjoying it as much as I am now, but the soap opera is still very good especially in the current chapters.

one of the best xiangxia novels I have ever read. the plot is very interesting, the main character is cold-blooded, smart and prudent, but not ruthless. The plot is well written, the world background is there, and the boundaries of the level of cultivation are kept all the time and no one can kill a creature above their level. Unlike other novels where you only need to absorb energy, cultivation here covers many aspects. Almost no story armor. And luck and destiny are tangible. I advise everyone 9.9/10. English is not my native language
