    I've read to the most recent chapter of this novel, however, I fail to see how people are thinking this novel went sour after the first arc. The depth in the characters is still extremely good. So what I want to ask is why are people disliking the novel after the first arc. Is it because Sunless shows a development in personality after his experience in Forsaken Shores? I've seen a lot of people think a novel has turned sour after the main character turns softer due to character development. If it's a reason different from what I've stated, then can you explain to me why you dislike the second arc?

        I can understand that but it makes no sense to call a story trash simply because of a time skip. We still get all of the events and information on what had happened even if the events were placed in a different order. If we think about why the author did this, perhaps they had done it to tell the story in a different way to add variety to the story. Also, I saw your comment from before and it was a deciding factor in getting me to read this novel and so I want to say thanks.

          The problem is a lot of water. Volume 2- A lot of chapters, do not make sense. The author went along the path of the text, for the sake of the text. Lost dynamics. Volume 2 - a snail crawling in a small circle.

            Yeah, a summary of the last 50 chapters (~190-240) where they go from point A to point B: heroes run away from a monster, face more monsters, more monsters, monster boss, monsters of a different type, more monsters, 5 useless halt chapters in which nothing happened, more monsters, more monsters, monsters of a different kind, again, another change in the type of monsters, 2 types at once, a lot of whining, weather disaster.
            Zero story or character development and they're still not close to point B.
            Ultra-slow storytelling and overwhelming fillers. I'm sorry for my wasted time.

      I wholeheartedly agree with your comment.At the end of the day sunny is still just a kid. Sure he's hardened by the streets and becomes ruthless,but after the first arc starts to show signs of learning how to trust again only for all of that to come crashing down,added with the madness of the dream world,their hopeless circumstances,and his first cold blooded murder,and almost legit dying, it's hard to see how he would still stay sane while also living in the most dangerous ruins alone

    If you're trying to read the novel anew, read with your focus on character development. Accept that the MC (or any character) has faults because of their backgrounds. That's one of the best things of this novel. You can actually give reason to the way major characters act in this novel. With the quality of the writing, I'm sure the characters are going to becomes so lovable at the end. That's what helps readers live the life of characters anyway. I have high hopes on the romance too

    Man this book had so much potential but the ending of the first arc and the second arc completely ruined it like wow, please if you’re thinking of starting this book, don’t the first 90 chapters are great but after that it takes a complete nosedive. This comment is going to get completely downvoted by people who haven’t read the second arc and I’m completely fine with it. What a shame, this book had an amazing beginning only to ruin it with 20 chapters of pointless memory loss and a completely stupid time skip to the second arc

      I agree this had so much potential and the first arc was good to read even though the memory loss thing was a bit forced. The characters were 3d and it works because there are only 3characters to focus on.
      The world is depiction is great, as a dark souls enjoyer its right up my ally.
      Oh but in the second vol, that shit is brutal on mc. mc keeps behaving like a mob in vol2 even though there was a moment in first vol where his attitude changes when chooses to save nephis. He becomes an insecure hypocrite and simp for lack of a better word. Nephis knows this and uses it. I was hoping for mc's character development, the only development I got was mc losing his marbles by staying alone ,like why he was alone before.
      I only read till 199 cliffhanger,

      plz, let me know if mc's attitude becomes better in the following chaps.
