Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator who defied the heavens, and surpassed all limits.

Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck here. Arrogant young masters? Heavenly tribulations? Cultivating for days on end, then getting into life or death battles?

Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here.

In which a transmigrator decides that the only winning move is not to play. Collapse

This is truly a hidden gem, so try giving it a chance.

Beware of Chicken follows a transmigrated guy who wakes up in a sect. He quickly realizes that the body that he now inhabits was killed by an Inner Disciple of the sect in a trifling manner. Here's the question for you; what would you do when you understand that you now live in a cut-throat dog-eats-dog world and murder is a common as eating breakfast? In the case of the MC, he literally says "f#ck nope" and leaves the sect as quickly as possible to start a farm in the most remote and desolate place he can find.

The novel quickly progresses from here where his farm becomes an oddity due to his modern/alternative farming practices, truly taking a new spin on the word "cultivation". Farm animals become cognizant, rice becomes spiritual, and crazy things happen, all the while MC unknowingly becomes stronger. How strong? We don't know, but with the MC's focus on "giving back to the earth, and the earth will respond" his strength and his land somehow becomes a holy land.

The truly refreshing thing with this novel is the comedy, slice-of-life viewed from multiple POV, and romance in this novel. There are practically no fights, but the novel instead chooses to focus on how the MC's farm impacts those around him.

If you're tired of typical face slapping , constant fights over trifling matter, arrogant young masters, etc, and would like a breath of fresh air in a xianxia world, then give this novel a try. It had me hooked in the first couple of chapters.

A xianxian novel but the first charactere go 'f#ck it' and leave to make a farm. His love interest come quickly but it's not badly made.
As for the protagonist, we follow Big D, a chicken, as he growth in strengh and charactere...
Joke aside, the story is great but the MC give all of his protagonist aura to his farm animale who become spirit beast like nothing, particulary Big D (who get a harem in the making without even knowing), and he just laid back. Few fight but it's not the main theme. Noneless, it's interesting, particulary the way Cultivator destroy Earth and how MC do the opposite.

There's no harem here so why comment? So pls go to your typical harem novel protagonist that is as dense as a black hole.

I like this novel bc it highlights the consequences of what happens after a while in a cultivation world where everyone consumes resources to get stronger. Eventually the resources run out and leave the earth drained and broken(broken bc people "borrow" its power without giving back-moving mountains, causing earthquakes, etc). Eventually, the cultivators become more and more selfish to hoard the remaining few resources, and then everything self-destructs once everything is gone. Tbh, this is a lot like our problem with fossil fuels.

Except, it might not be like that because it is usually assumed that Spiritual Energy, Qi or whatever is an endless resource. All other natural resources in these types of novels are formed from it, so how could they possible run out?

I do get what you're saying though (and I haven't read the novel yet!) ^^

It's bc it takes time for treasures to grow and absorb the qi, and even if it it endless, there's a limit to the amount that can replesnish at once

That's definitely reasonable. However, what I meant was that when this resource we call Spiritual Qi is endless, then the World, the Universe cannot fully dry up and be "broken". There will be less for a time, but it will recover indefinitely. That's what I meant.

When i first saw this book title i thought it was some loser dikhead guy transmission to a chicken 🐣, who will obtain system, seduce/rape all beautiful girls and reach the pinnacle of cultivation while doing some revenge, face slapping like they always do..!! But it wasn't and that was what drew me into reading this and i gotta say its funny and that's enough for me.
