With the rising tide of steam power and machinery, who can come close to being a Beyonder? Shrouded in the fog of history and darkness, who or what is the lurking evil that murmurs into our ears?

Waking up to be faced with a string of mysteries, Zhou Mingrui finds himself reincarnated as Klein Moretti in an alternate Victorian era world where he sees a world filled with machinery, cannons, dreadnoughts, airships, difference machines, as well as Potions, Divination, Hexes, Tarot Cards, Sealed Artifacts…

The Light continues to shine but mystery has never gone far. Follow Klein as he finds himself entangled with the Churches of the world — both orthodox and unorthodox — while he slowly develops newfound powers thanks to the Beyonder potions.

Like the corresponding tarot card, The Fool, which is numbered 0 — a number of unlimited potential — this is the legend of «The Fool». Collapse

Holy f*ck; "hey, how are you?"
"Oh, I'm fine what are y-"
"In the hundred years ago names made a thing that made the era named names become really important because of thing. In that era named names there came to be the named big thing that is now one of the 4 named big things names of this era."
    "Oh... cool bro, eh-"
"What happened eras ago? How did things go? Why did that happened? Who did that? Who is the leader of every single SECRET ORGANIZATION-wooooooooooow. -Proceeds to read another 2, 000 words of lore which no one asked for. Wow, I can't believe this person named with names found out that the other person named with names was the leader of a named big thing! In an era far away, woooooooooow."
So, I can't stand pretentious bullshit, this is that.
No progress in 100 chapter except for taking one potion? No problem with that, I can give it 100-400 chapters even if it's like that.
Cuttlefish thinks you've known the MC for ages and are best buddies? No problem, I can ignore such blatant laziness.
Hey, what's that? Oh! More lore out of nowhere when you don't even know the MC! Great! No problem, I can at least give it 100 chapters to know at least one of the multiple personalities that the author has granted him, each a borderline one.
Oh, but... Unnecessary wannabe 'ancient' british customs? Oh boy, I'm the f*cking f*ck out.
Besides not wanting to know how many f*cking sugar teaspoons of your f*cking mother the MC puts in his tea, coffee and his f*cking toilet, you also have to read about some ret*rded talk of not being gentlemanly because of training your body... HUH?! Guess what, it's not comedy, it is in f*cking seriousness! And that is only one example of, ooooh so many.
I wrote about this before and I couldn't feel more right as I repeat myself; Slice of Life and Xuanhuan/Xiana/Supernatural are not to be mixed.
The whole f*cking 101 chapters have been of pounds, soli and your motherf*cking coins, talking and talking and putting them into the front of your face in case you forget this is a british-based ambiance. Holy f*ck, just remembering those wannabe moments makes me cringe spiritually.
Maybe don't base a story out of a couple of exaggerated movies you saw? Dunno, maybe advising is even worst than staying silent at this point.
    Unreadable.
Many people talk about world-building and so on; I am like, why do we hear so much about a world we were JUST introduced to? Who do you expect to like being given endless text of things that happened BEFORE and before, and before; over, over and over and over and over and over again...?
That is not world-building, that's just a different dump of information, and it maintains itself so for 100 chapters. All while the MC does just this ---> starts working for a church, starts working for a divination shop and drinks a potion.
WOW, 'world building'. I'm dying to read more about what everyone THINKS happened before, eras before, in few hundred chapters more into the future. Oh! The thrill!
If you can endure what I can not, then I guess I'd recommend you this novel. If not, save yourself the trouble, no need to be intimidated by this work having won one or two awards and from having 1k+ 5 stars.
Only one thing I can write about this positively, it did that one almost real battle between Beyonders entertaining, and the writing method is decent.

    a honest review from before

BE WARNED, to those who haven't read this yet and is here due to both hype and recommendations. The first book (around 200 chapters) is VERY SLOW, almost glacial. Don't get me wrong, this part is both important and still engaging as you see the world open up before you, BUT, it can't be denied that this part is very slow.

At around chapter 180, it starts to pick up, you feel it, then it ends the first book with a BANG! Even now after years, I still remember the first book's ending.

even after reading 300 chapters of this novel I still find it boring, dont be intimidated by the amount of Stars this book has, if you like OP mc's or if you dont like extremely amount of info dumps dont read this novel.

... What do I say? What the heck is that shit-review?!

Holy f#ck! This novel is too slow for ya? Too much vocabulary for ya? Too hard to count Soli? Why the heck don't you go watch your Power Rangers on tv, or read Manga and Comics because those, have pictures, and you won't need to waste your lack of braincells here.

What the heck did those 'ancient British customs' did to you? Are you angry because the author didn't know that you were the racist type who only care about Jupiter, or whichever planet you pop out from. Well, very sorry about that, ya better warn the author before his next book, who knows, maybe he'll include your planet in his next divination in order to respect your unrespectable self.

You can't stand bullshits? Well, I can't, either. I can't believe some dude wrote so many biased comments, and had the balls to call this a Review. Come on, 'ramblings,' okay... 'personal opinions and prejudices', I can accept; but Review?! Which freaking part was constructive in this so-called wannabe review?

I think dude, you were too corrupted by the overwhelming amount of trash-novels out there, but hey, if that's your taste, I swear that you'll find plenty on this site. In my personal opinion, this Cuttlefish, is probably one of those, terribly few, recommendable chinese writers, who doesn't start his story with a bullied-by-the-whole-world MC, who then catch-up to his peers in 10 chapters; save the planet in a 100; then conquer the universe and become an immortal god and dominate the thousand realms after a 1000 chapters; and all that, without forgetting the fact that all 'decent' females of the story, will inevitably fall in love with him and no one else, and that Huaxia or what-not, is always the most powerful and the best country of the universe. Well, dude, if that's your delusional taste: get the heck out there, and eat those junk-foods for thoughts, instead. I, for myself, am quite satisfied with this author, and deplore the lack of this kind of gem-like novels to read.

The world is chaotic enough as it is, and this defective review system doesn't need your biased opinions to ruin the careers of 'real' promising authors, and devaluate those already few, worthy novels.

Finished reading the novel, what can I say? Honestly, there is nothing special to add, since everyone has already said that it would be possible. The novel is just super, I won't say it's the number one novel I've read, but it's absolutely one of the best. The author perfectly revealed: the world, magic and levels, the main character, and secondary characters, secrets, mysticism, horrors, everything is super. The author also just did a great ending, the ending is such that you really want a sequel (one of the few books where the ending was not killed by the book), of course this is only the first book, let's see what happens next. In general, if you are looking for a good novel, and you like a western atmosphere, a little bit of technology, magic, mystery, horror, as well as a good written world and characters, then you will like it, if you didn’t get it, then it definitely won’t be because of a bad books, but simply because it didn't suit your personal preferences, because there really isn't much to complain about, except if you don't like the whole plot, then to each his own.
The only thing that worries me is book 3, there should be a plot about the western continent, where there will be eastern culture with sanxia, etc. I saw a lot of books that were simply spoiled by the Chinese because of an attempt to combine Western and Eastern culture, and in the end it turned out to be shit .... I have been especially unlucky lately, and I often came across books where there was this hated nationalism, and the exaltation of Eastern culture. Although the author takes a very responsible and high-quality approach to the plot, I still hope that the author does not go too far in this, and does not spoil the atmosphere of the entire book with the western continent with its eastern culture.

So I've put off reading this novel for a while, both because of how long it is (number of chapters) and just not thinking it was worth the time investment but I'm happy to say I was completely wrong! I even wish there were more chapters, but thankfully there's a sequel of this book coming out (this novel is the first of three, ie. a trilogy). The world-building is hands-down one of the best I've read, I loved the characters and the character growth of not just the MC, but even the side main characters/side characters! And the main character has an actual brain, which is very rare in novels where they dumb down the antagonists/side characters to highlight the 5 IQ of the main character. The story's pace and progression are wonderful, slow in the beginning to get you acclimated to the world and its logic, but it rapidly picks up after the first arc and soon you'll be trying to analyze the mysteries you discover with the MC. To me, it's similar to when you're watching Steins: Gate and you're trying to investigate the mysteries and inexplicable factors in the show (trying not to spoil), and the horror element elevates the risk and tension in the novel fantastically. Sorry if this is kind of like a rant, but I genuinely would rate this either the best or among the top 3 light novels, I've ever read! Please give it a try and if you feel like everything is overwhelming or a bit slow in the beginning, I hope you hold on until the end of the first arc (chapter 218) as from that point everything quickly gains pace and you get free reins to completely analyze everything with snippets of the information you get. Overall ranking in my opinion: 9.4/10. (It got too fast-paced for me after a certain arc and I felt that diminished the quality a bit, otherwise it would be a 9.6/10).

did you even read the 'I Have A Super USB Drive'? and why do you say ruined? just because someone likes a cultivation novel with a op mc dosent mean that there are ruined, just because you read a novel which you think is the best dosent mean you have the right to look down on people that read cultivation novel with a very op mc. maybe you are right and the cultivation novel with a very op mc are tra#h, but what do you mean by saying that I'm ruined? just because I enjoy these 'tra#h' novels dosent mean that you have the right to look down on me. you find this novel good but in my eyes this novel is tra#h but I dont look down on you or anything just because you have a different taste that I have. saying that I'm ruined just because I like novels that are not good in you eyes is super pretentious. its like saying ' ohhhn I have the best taste in novel and you are ruined just because you dont like the novel I like and you read tra#h novel because of that .

My goodness gracious, you are actually comparing this novel to I Have A Super USB Drive? Although I didn't finish it, I did read that novel. And, in my opinion, you saying that it's better than this novel is utter bullshit. If I remember right, that novel was about the MC getting a USB drive that contained tons and tons of knowledge. In a way, he was given knowledge, where the MC of this novel had earned it. I can't even begin to fathom how you would compare the two! This novel was written masterfully. It succeeded in fully painting the characters with life. They felt real. It was capable of making the readers feel emotions. For example, pardon me for the following spoiler,
was able to make many readers feel sad. Not just that, the build-up to that arc was able to give the readers an idea as to how such things happen in real life, while we live on in ignorance! Let me tell you what I think. Either, you are f#cking blind, or you probably didn't read the story properly and skimmed through it. Like how some people give up on reading "Mother of Learning" just because the writing is too cramped! I will be honest. Comments like yours that slander a novel such as this, on which the author has spent untold hours and days wracking his brain and writing, is INFURIATING!!! So please, for the love of all that is holy, please just properly read this novel, or any other novel for that matter, before slandering it!

'who tries to make the mc look smart' what does that mean? did you even read past the first 50 chapters? you just read 10 chapters and say that the whole novel is tra#h. if you even read past the first 50 chapters then you would know that the focus of the novel is on the usb and the supernatural and the mc is much smarter than the mc of this novel, trust me I read 300 chapters of this novel and the mc of 'I have A Super USB Drive' is much smarter. The two arent even comparable in terms of intelligence. Next time dont lie about reading a novel in front of a fan of the novel.

you didnt even really read the novel 'I have A Super USB Drive' so stop lying. and wtf has 'I have A Super USB Drive' to do with infinity junkie?

If you read 'I have A Super USB Drive' then you would know how smart the mc of that novel really is, The mc of 'I have A Super USB Drive' is not pretending he really is smart.

Yo wtf? I hate to say this but, dude you are blind, the fact you did not see how REALISTIC author is being, with all the planning, possible consequences, scheming, action down to the behavior of each characters, INCLUDING TONS OF SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE being INCORPORATED into a novel. Understanding it is already a huge achievement but author is able to make those fact and information into a novels itself is nothing sort of MIND BLOWING. Everything have flaw, but the flaws you mentioned is not even worth mentioning. In fact, it does not in anyway reduce the SUPREME QUALITY of this novel.

Damn, my brain is going to explode at this rate. ohno
    There's too much infodump.....
    I'm in chp20 and here's an example::
(The author's description of five pounds)
He received the notes and discovered that two of them were in five pound denominations and two of them were in one pound denominations. All of them had a gray background and were inked in black. The four corners had complicated patterns and special ink to prevent counterfeiting.

The former notes were slightly bigger and in the middle of them was Loen Kingdom’s fifth king, George III’s direct ancestor, Henry Augustus I. He wore a white hair band above his rotund face. His eyes were slender and he had an abnormally serious expression. However, Klein felt an indescribably sense of closeness to him.

    This was a five-pound note!

It’s almost equal to four weeks of Benson’s salary!

In the middle of the one-pound note was George III’s father, the former king, William Augustus VI. This mighty figure had a thick mustache and a firm gaze. While he was in power, he freed the Loen Kingdom from the shackles of the old order, allowing his nation to regain the pinnacle spot.

    Seriously?? frost
Please someone tell me it has been solved in later chps, if not I'm dropping this...

The first arc is a bit slow and very descriptive (210 chapters), but it just gives a detailed explanation of the basic understanding and logic of the world. It does get lessened later on, especially to give readers their own opportunity to guess or infer about the plot/world around them. If you can hold on for a bit, you should be able to come out loving this story and the world, especially with how cohesive it is to what the author mentions as a foundation in the first arc. boast welldone

          A little advice from me,
Everything in this novel, I mean literally everything that happens or is portrayed has a meaning to it, yes even that 10 pond note description, how? You might ask, I won't spoil it for you, eventually you will come accross the reason as to why.
Though it may take a long time and you might have forgotten it so don't take note of these small details.
Besides, when I say this I mean it, when you will be nearing the end of this novel, you would wish that it won't end and somehow more chapters just get added, believe me on this one.
          Anyway, happy read to you~
