Julian Weber is an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a graduate of Westpoint Military Academy with a degree in civil engineering. As U.S. involvement in Afghanistan comes to an end, Lt. Julian Weber finds himself involved in a terrorist attack by the Taliban, which claims his life.

    Potential Pros: Pretty good character building. The girls he gets don't simply behave as mindless sex slaves. The antagonists are reasonable, and there's no blind stupidity(young master-ism), at least in the more important moments of the plot.

    Interesting and fun alt-history plot. For anyone with even the slightest bit of interest in medieval history. You got the reformation spurred by church intrigue, byzantine politics, german civil wars, and a whole lot of other fun stuff. World building is very cool

    Potential Cons: Mc is a bit of a bitch. While originally disgusted at the prospect of marrying a 12 year old, he quickly adjusts his mindset and falls in love. Has no problem raping a 16 year old and continually having sex with her, while he is 20+. Has no problem killing off children or any innocent man that spends time with one of his harem members. Goes from random American soldier to staunch German nationalist very quickly(not the Nazi type fortunately, although he has no problem using Nazi slogans and fashion)

    Everything seems very convenient for mc. In the 400+ chapters reading this book, I don't think he's ever really lost once, aside from maybe two times but even those seem forced for growth. From his inventions to his battles, everything goes smoothly. Him having the ability to replicate anything the plot calls for, is explained off with "a perfect memory and he read a lot in his last life." His spy network never fails despite being run by a 16 year old girl. His interactions with the girls go very smoothly as well. And of course, he doesn't lose his battles.

    Overall, seems a bit like a power fantasy but the author did his research and the characters are enjoyable enough to stick through it. 3/5

      The only "children" he killed was
      and who are these innocent men spending time with his harem? I've read through this book twice, run the wiki for it, and talk with the author on a daily basis and I can't remember him ever killing anyone for being too close to his harem. As for the perfect memory and the german nationalism. Berengar is heavily based on the author (Like VERY heavily). I dare you to go ask the author on discord anything about any of the machines or guns that Berengar remembers. Zent's memory and knowledge is almost as freaky as Berengar's. Zent is also very proud of his German heritage and doesn't really give a f*ck about America (despite living there). He wrote Berengar to be the same way since day one. There are some subtle nods to this even in chapter 1. To the point of him never losing his battles. Right now in the book he is fighting peasants with swords and spears with professional soldiers equipped with modern day guns and breach loaded artillery. I think it would be more unrealistic for him to lose once than to win every time.

          That is Linde talking not Berenger. There is a large difference between what Berenger does and what other people theorize he would do. Claiming that a character has a large defect in their personality because someone else said that they would do something in one circumstance that they have never done up to this point and never claimed they would is a pedantic and poor argument.

            This is just hardheaded. If Linde was a dumbass who didn't know what her husband was like, then maybe your words would hold some weight. However, not only has she spent the most time with him(lending credibility to her words), and not only does the story emphasize that this isn't a joke but everything she says is supported by other circumstances. Berengar is an incredibly impulsive and jealous man. As the story progresses, this becomes more and more obvious. Look at Conrad's death. Look at him threatening his mother due to her disapproval of his harem. Look at the invasion of Northern Germany. Even when commanding his soldiers, he states the reason he is about to kill hundreds of thousands of people is because their king nearly killed his sister. Look at him internally planning to dominate the king of Georgia and make him apologize for being too close to Honoria.

        Linde blatantly states that Berengar would seriously kill any man who got too close to his harem regardless of whether they sought romantic relations or not. Berengar internally says this as well. A more recent statement would be him saying he would make Honoria's uncle apologize for hugging her.

        And a photographic memory still shouldn't make things this easy. He f#cks a girl, they turn stupid and betray their former allegiances. He brings up new technology from hundreds of years in the future, it succeeds with no problems in development, no problems in implementation and no problems in usage. No one questions him. He supposedly has charisma despite having no friends in his last life. He faces no setbacks. Nothing of permanent consequence ever happens to him if it isn't forced like Henrietta somehow getting shot. This is how I can tell that the mc is based off the author or at least what the author thinks he is. You didn't give me any new information, just confirmation that the author is as much of a scumbag as his mc is.

    If you came to read a good Kingdom Building story then this isn't for you. This is an absurd self-insert wish fulfillment fantasy pretending being a Kingdom Building story.
    Why this is a bad Kingdom Building? Well... the story happens in an alternate world, 15th century world in a small village (shitty one) from the Holy Roman Empire.

    The MC in this small village accomplish within 6 months to 1 and half year:
    - A full industry sector (powered with watermills) with 19th century steel production technology pumping all types of weapons, armor, muskets, rebar all in several productions lines.
    - Agrarian reform and irrigation system with galvanized plumbing.
    - Buildings all with plumbing and sewers, giant monuments of him, etc...
    - A semi democracy (only in his county) with a parliament with lower/upper house.
    -Several star fortresses made with rebar and concrete (in the main city and other places to reinforce his county), all the star fortress are well garrisoned with infantry and artillery.
    -Professional army with full artillery, infantry and cavalry divisions (with cannons and muskets when his enemies still are using swords) that get constant levies and training.
    - 100% loyalty from the populace and an amazing spy network.
    - Education to peasants.
    - Dynamite or TNT, i don't remember which was.

    How the MC did it ? Idk because the author used more words to tell how the MC dicked the lover and spend time with his 13 year old fiancee than explain the technicalities to build that.

    Still i wanna know how the f#ck he made a Bessemer converter in 1 month with 15th century technology in the middle of f#cking nothing and capable of pumping "3-5 tons of steel in a matter of 20 minutes."
    You know what is more funny ? How in less than 15 chapters appears a 16 year old beauty that is a dominatrix (story based in 15th century with a stronger church than in our timeline) and he converts her in a full masochist only in one night with his dick.

    If you want a good Kingdom Building story then don't read it. If you want a generic wish fulfillment fantasy with a sort of alpha/sigma meme of a MC then read it.

    The papal councils and early intrigue settings where cool, tho.

      Try Iron Dynasty.. Its a bit better in the technology progression. After I read Iron Dynasty I understood that Tyranny of Steel is not as good as I initially thought. Just because of the bessemer converter he produced so much steel. There are a lot more technological hurdles before he should be able to create bessemer converter..

      But I still like this Novel.. I want the author to comeback soon.. Please come back Mr Author san..
