Tyranny of Steel by Zentmeister

The novel is pretty mid; I'd argue it's even below that in many ways. The only reason it reaches a 5/10 for me is that the setting is somewhat interesting. However, it mainly feels like wish fulfillment. The characters are meh—they're pretty inflexible and just follow whatever the author wants or what's convenient for the MC. For instance, the MC's family doesn't realize a key plot twist (which would be huge for them, but not for the reader) until the story requires it, and similar things happen with other characters. The story itself is only so-so, with some parts feeling forced. The MC can do everything, so be prepared for whatever you think might not work to happen anyway, just because the MC makes it happen. (The MC can remember everything and has knowledge on everything that might be useful—it's a bit ridiculous.) The themes lean toward the darker side, but they can feel forced and sometimes downright silly in how they're executed or why they're used. It's like the story tries too hard to make them impactful, but the reasoning behind them doesn't hold up. Overall, it doesn’t deserve the 3.9 rating at all. The worldbuilding is fine, but the rest is really a disappointment. I think the rating could range from 2 to 7/10, depending on how much you care about wish fulfillment, illogical moments, and dark themes (or if you like them). The more experience you have with storytelling, the more likely you are to find it boring or annoying to read. Still it can be interresting for some(even among experienced readers).

Does this novel... have magic or not? If it doesnt I wont read it, but if it does I will. I prefer fantasy over politics tbh. Though, ofc kingdom building is good but magic is still needed, or else I might as well read a more modern story ryt

I don't like incest porn in this novel. Just shoved down your throat. Also, like really? Gods? İt is just stupid forced plot. Too many plot holes for that.

None of us readers, and so no 21 century reborn MC would maķe such absurd decisions.
The story/author is too lacking in realism.
Its a story killer when the scenario choices are without logic.

Some parts of this story are ok but if you have a story where the MC interact with other peoples' gods and they are ok with their children being dominated by someone, that proves the author knows absolutely nothing about the civilizations of others

I just clocked it but how is she surviving let’s ignore the fact that the assassin is shit as he failed to even hit his target at point blank but let’s say Henrietta did get in front of the mc in time which body part was the assassin aiming let’s say he was aiming and MC head then Henrietta isn’t all enough to block that with her body and if he was aiming and MC chest then Henrietta should get poped in the head. Coz where else could the assassin be aiming.

I loved the time period of the start. It allows you to explore the time period and think and learn about the difference the further along the author got in the story. But it is still considered true that without the dark ages and the religious wars the technology might actually be at the level it states in the book at the end. The characters were well thought out with their personalities that it complemented the story and the other characters so well that you can’t even tell this is the author's first long term novel attempt.
10/10 for me

Basically a Crusader Kings playthrough written into a novel. Pretty decent as far as English webnovels go, if you ignore the rushed writing that all such novels suffer from. Also, author is clearly a German empire fanboy so if that triggers you don't bother reading it.
