your point of view is totally correct you are in no way at fault. however , your point of view or mentality should i say is quite a bit different from the norm we see here in these communities.
this isnt because we all endorse rape pedophilia slavery murder arson wars and whatnot but rather because of the attitude or the mentality with which we read these novels.


relating to such events in novels of this sort is just stupid why would you want to imagine your family members in a sexual context anyway?


you have no idea how f#cked up these novels can get and so literally not a single "veteran" reader reads these novels at a personal level and most keep their distance from the characters as a whole.
its part of this separation from reality that causes most of us to gloss over such acts. we've read so much f#cked up shit that this kind of stuff hardly even feels that horrible or unforgivable anymore.

id like to further upon this by pointing out how you ,when you point out some sins the author has included in the novel, conveniently decided to ignore other acts like murder ,espionage, manipulation, blackmail, betrayal and war itself and how the mc uses it to further his ambition...you too chose to gloss over this because for whatever reason you felt like it was ok for such a thing to happen... the same is what is happening with other readers.

but of course its still your choice whether you wish to read it or not but do take care when you use harsh words like "pedophile den" because essentially you are accusing those who chose to gloss over/ignore it of pedophilia. which is why multiple users chose to express their opinion by disliking your comment. which is why user @MelonCat told you this

To add to this i too feel uncomfortable reading rape pedophilia and all that bs but you can just filter it out without much difficulty. while the author may have written the novel you will always be the one reading it and altering a few insignificant facts in your mind for the comfort of your morality is something id recommend doing when reading novels of this fashion.

the reason i wrote so much is because i really did like this novel for the accurate reenactment of history and with the way characters were fleshed out and you decided to focus on only the bad and none of the good so just wanted to show my understanding of why your judgement was flawed ..or so i believe.

Movies and everything gloss over those, but none go as far as pedophilia. There are just things u can’t defend. His judgment is not flawed at all. It’s 100% correct.
See if a movie adds pedophilia, absolute mayhem.

Let’s take African slaves for example.
If In the novel MC suddenly hires black slaves and racially degraded them, would you not feel uncomfortable?
