Growing up in poverty, Sunny never expected anything good from life. However, even he did not anticipate being chosen by the Nightmare Spell and becoming one of the Awakened — an elite group of people gifted with supernatural powers.

Transported into a ruined magical world, he found himself facing against terrible monsters — and other Awakened — in a deadly battle of survival.

What’s worse, the shadow powers he received happened to possess a small, but potentially fatal side effect… Collapse

It‘s the best Novel I’ve read to this point, Point.

You can believe the toxic hate reviews, if you want to. It‘s just the same kind of toxic ppl every successfully novel tends to attract without fail somewhere along the way. You can also just read the novel for a change and make your own opinion on the matter.

When it‘s comes to successfully WN on this page it‘s always the same shit, the same toxic reviews without logic and sense and the same trashtalking about the mc, if he‘s not the dark and edgiest motherf#cker you‘ve ever seen. And this is something you see in about every successfully Webnovel you will see here.

Truly the worst website to actually expect some good reviews from.

You are telling people to "just read the novel and form their own opinion," which is fair. But at the same time, you are rejecting other people's opinions if they don’t agree with you. If a novel is good, let it stand on its own rather than shutting down everyone by labeling any criticism as "toxic."

I‘m not rejecting the opinion of other ppl because they don‘t agree with me, I already issued my fair shaire of criticism on this novel and also agreed on various other critics of ppl reviewing this novel.

The reason I call some ppl on this website “toxic”, is simply because they are “toxic”. Whether their reviews consist of making blatant lies, throwing various insults or actually harassing the author of this novel. Why should I name them anything other than toxic?

Yea, but you make your comment sound like people should read the novel on their own and ignore all the other negative reviews, labelling them as toxic or lying.
Others don't agreeing with the way that the author has handled some things doesn't mean they hate the author or the novel.
As I said, if the novel is good, let it stand on its own.

There's a difference between hate and criticism. I’m not here just to 'trash' the novel, I’m discussing its flaws so others know what to expect. If people can keep praising it over time, why can’t I continue to criticize it? Reviews don’t have an expiration date.

Interesting choice of words. Guess it says a lot about how you see differing opinions. But hey, if pointing out flaws makes someone a 'sneaky little rat,' then I wonder what that makes someone who gets this pressed over a review.

Ah, so let me get this straight - calling any criticism "toxic hate" is fine, but responding to that claim is "animosity"? Funny how that works.
Interesting. It seems like the issue isn’t me sharing my perspective, it’s that I didn’t just leave quietly after one comment. If having a conversation about differing viewpoints is such a problem, maybe the real issue isn’t my presence but how much it bothers you.

Ah, so now it's about "picking on" someone? The original review wasn’t just minding its own business, it outright dismissed critical reviews as "toxic hate" with "no logic or sense." If someone makes a sweeping claim like that, it’s fair game to respond.
People can enjoy the novel however they want, just like others can criticize it. But pretending one side is just "minding their business" while the other is somehow disruptive? That’s just selective reasoning.

Or maybe I just wanted people to see different perspectives instead of just fan praise. Not everything is about personal validation. If engaging in discussion is a problem, then you’re just as guilty for being here. Disagreeing isn’t toxic hate, but calling someone obnoxious for it? That’s closer. If your explanations actually addressed the critique instead of just trying to shut it down, maybe you'd get a different response.

    Quote: Guru
Dropping at 1772, and a review.

Fantasy: I have nothing but praise here. The concept may not be new, but what matters is how it’s implemented, and the author does excel in that regard. Mythology and history, while not the main focus, are handled thoroughly. You’ll know it’s good stuff when find yourself coming up with theories about events and things left unsaid. There are some fumbles and inconsistencies, but these are more related to the writing rather than the genre or idea itself. 5/5

Action: If you're here for the fight scenes, you've come to the right place. There are times when the story consists of nothing but battles for long stretches, just remember fight sequences in Naruto. However, the author deliberately lowers the intelligence of the nightmare creatures (NCs) starting around volume 3. There are moments when the main character is surrounded by hundreds of NCs, each with at least one unique abl, and the only reason he survives is that instead of drowning him with a barrage of ab, 95% of them simply charge at him. 3.5/5

Adventure: Easiest genre to incorporate into any novel. Every vol, you can expect a new location and risky situations at every turn. However, in my opinion, this becomes excessive, as moments that should evoke worry instead lead to apathy. Additionally, the main character lacks an inherent, personal goal—one that is truly his own. All of his objectives are merely reactions to someone else’s decisions or actions. While he does have short-term goals, aka becoming stronger to break free, there's no overarching goal.
    4/5

Romance: For the first 1,500 chapters, it was practically nonexistent—the closest thing to romance was mental masturbation. The author obsessively writes about the main character ogling everyone as if they were unbelievably, ridiculously good-looking. You won’t find more than 3 chapters without this, and sometimes entire chapters are dedicated to describing "city-toppling" beauty using the same vocabulary that was already used to describe the previous three levels of beauty. More recently, romance has started to develop rapidly, reaching a point of 120% saturation. 2/5

Character: None to begin with. He went from manipulator with the qualities needed to survive—a character with distinct looks and values shaped by his experiences, with the potential to rise to the top at the end of Volume 1—to a whiny, dull, beta-boy idiot who can't even look at a girl without cowering.
Behaving like an indecisive teenage in love.
Insulting everyone he meets with “truth”, and never learns from his mistakes to repeat them over and over.
"How did we get here?" Women. Aka Nephis, aka star of RUIN, who basically assassinated mc personality becoming his personal drug. In the most recent chapters, he's essentially an edgelord. 1/5

You‘re character description of the mc…

Behaving like a beta idiot, who can‘t look at a girl without cowering?

Behaving like an indecisive teenage in love?

Insulting everyone he meets with “truth”, and never learns from his mistakes to repeat them over and over?

And for the last paragraph… So a guy who lived through abhorrent disasters one after the other, isn‘t allowed to have a wholesome relationship? Nah. He shows any emotions to the girl he loves, he‘s a simp. That shit is toxic as f#ck.

Glad I’m not in habit of reading reviews of WN before I read the book, because what‘s written in these reviews and what actually happens in the book are generally two different things.

            -"Being surprised is not cowering."
You’re downplaying how unnatural his reaction was. A guy who’s survived countless life or death situations, fought powerful enemies, and maintained control under extreme pressure suddenly stumbles, fumbles, and bleeds just because a girl in a dress walked into his restaurant? That’s not just surprise, that’s a complete personality shift that makes no sense.

-"He hindered the great clans' conflict and severed his bond with Nephis, so he isn’t a simp."
You're missing the bigger picture. Just because he temporarily acts against Nephis doesn’t mean he isn't being controlled by her influence. He runs off to Antarctica after she bruises his pride, then she follows, and he still ends up doing what she wants him to do. He literally has to tell himself, "I’m doing this because I want to, not because she wants me to." If he has to justify it to himself, then deep down, he knows he's just following her lead. That’s not independence, that’s rationalizing submission.

-"Getting hit once because of distraction isn’t a big deal."
It’s not about him getting hit, it’s about why he got hit. The lesson "never underestimate an opponent" was drilled into him, yet he immediately forgets it the moment his teammate looks different? This isn’t just a one-time mistake; it’s a repeated failure to learn. If a character keeps making the same kind of mistakes, that’s not character growth, that’s regression.

-"Having a wholesome relationship doesn’t make him weak."
Nobody said he shouldn’t have emotions or a relationship. The problem is that his relationship actively weakens him. Love interests in a story should help a character grow, not strip them of their defining characteristics. His entire personality shift makes him lose the sharp, manipulative edge he had in the beginning. He’s not evolving; he’s losing depth. That’s bad writing, not "wholesome development."

Of course, everyone has their own preferences when it comes to character development. Some people may enjoy a cunning, manipulative protagonist, while others may prefer a more emotionally driven character. And that's why reviews exist. To let the people know what kind of novel they would be reading.
Someone criticizing a novel in his review isn't just toxic hate.

I have been reading this novel almost since it had about 300 chapters and I really like its story, almost everything is good except for a few flaws, the biggest of which I think is filler, and it may make many readers regret reading it, so I recommend that if you can't read a bunch of crap, don't even think about reading it.

The novel is good, it reads like an epic. If you're already interested just read the first couple chapters, if you like those you'll like the rest.

Also, you'll probably see the other reviews bashing certain aspects of the novel, it's not as bad as they make it sound. It feels cringe because that's the point, sometimes the writing is supposed to piss you off or feel frustrated. This is a story that doesn't just go happy or sad moments. Sometimes it makes you cringe, sometimes you get mad, and sometimes you walk away. The fact the writing can make you feel all those different emotions in the first place is a sign of great writing to me.
