With the rising tide of steam power and machinery, who can come close to being a Beyonder? Shrouded in the fog of history and darkness, who or what is the lurking evil that murmurs into our ears?

Waking up to be faced with a string of mysteries, Zhou Mingrui finds himself reincarnated as Klein Moretti in an alternate Victorian era world where he sees a world filled with machinery, cannons, dreadnoughts, airships, difference machines, as well as Potions, Divination, Hexes, Tarot Cards, Sealed Artifacts…

The Light continues to shine but mystery has never gone far. Follow Klein as he finds himself entangled with the Churches of the world — both orthodox and unorthodox — while he slowly develops newfound powers thanks to the Beyonder potions.

Like the corresponding tarot card, The Fool, which is numbered 0 — a number of unlimited potential — this is the legend of «The Fool». Collapse

ive read first 30 chapters and watched the first ep.
I think watcching the anime would be more fun after reading the novel coz from novel you get a good understanding of everything, and from the anime you can have a lot of visual funn

if you just watch the anime, in a novel like this, i feel you are bound to be confused,

There are no answers in the first 10 chapters only more questions and that's what makes this book fun 27 I'd recommend the novel though ,they might skip a lot of important plot points because they want to make it "exciting" for people.

to put it simply... if u want quick fun then watch anime, lot of effort in visuals there... while if u want to slow burn, with a lot more detail then take novel (I prefer novel personally, plus I cant tolerate hearing chinese)

I'd say first read novel then watch anime cause this story has so many abstract concepts and skills that are impossible to replicate in visual form. You can only imagine it.

One thing i realized about this particular Chinese novel which is why is so popular and distinct from other Chinese ones is that" why It's unlikely that Lord of the Mysteries would be as popular as it is today without its Victorian-era setting. The Victorian background is a significant part of what makes the novel unique and appealing. It provides a rich, established world with recognizable tropes and aesthetics, which the author cleverly uses to subvert and build upon. Without it, the novel would lose a key element of its identity and appeal to a potentially different audience" and now I'm thinking! Is the author a genius that he decided to integrate a western type of background in the novel and make it it's core identity because if it were to be Chinese elements integrated here then the result would be extremely different!

actually... there's a lot of authors that also used that 'Victorian era' setting and all, both before LOTM, and even more so, after, but fact is, the author here just planned the novel much better than most others, the plot is very good. Of course, I won't deny that the victorian era vibe does give it a nice feel, as compared to any other trope like sci-fi, or pure fantasy.

The donghua is coming out in a few hours, so I just wanted to say that this novel is just... The best. Ever since I started it reading it, it has been in my No. 1 spot. I hope the donghua does it justice.
