Earth, thousands of years after the apocalypse.

Countless technologies and advances had been lost to time as the Specters, horrifying beings with terrifying powers, arrived and destroyed the world.

Over the coming thousands of years, humanity had built itself up but always died again.

Nobody remembers the past.

Nobody remembers what humanity had once accomplished.

Now, everyone is living in a world where the Specters reign supreme.

-----

A boy with amnesia woke up in the middle of the Dregs, the worst part of Crimson Fungus City.

The boy grows up and manages to become strong enough to pass an exam for one of the most prestigious jobs in existence, a Zephyx Extractor, someone that can harvest the powers of Specters.

Sadly, he had already gained a power from a Specter in the past, which made him ineligible for the position.

But then, a mysterious man visits him.

And his luck finally turns around. Collapse

Disappointment. I am so disappointed that I had to write this review. There will be spoilers; at the time of writing, I have read 434 chapters.

In the end, it's not interesting what happens next, it's not interesting how exactly the hero will develop his power, it's not interesting why Null chose him, it's not interesting how he interacts with Specter, it's not interesting how the hero will help humanity. I would give it a 3 out of 5. It's worth reading, but if you find it drawn out and boring, then it's not for you and you can give up.

Null didn't choose Nick. Nick just got lucky.
Specters are nothing more than a tool in strong hands. Don't think about them too much, because they are just soulless dummies created for only one purpose.
Nick is not perfect. He was just better than what was there.
He waited for thousands of years.
      And he did it.
Don't stop reading, and you won't be disappointed)

This author's book titles are always compelling.

    * Lighting is the Only Way ⚡
    * Sword god in a World of Magic 🗡️
    * Kill the Sun 🔥

I've only read a bit of sword god though. I liked it, the MC's power system was unique and interesting. I don't remember why I dropped...

After reading Lighting is the only way a couple of years ago, was wholly entertained and i guess i'm a fan of the authors work.

Continued with Kill the Sun, simply awesome, action packed to the max !

This novel just ain't for some people, but for some like me, it's fits nicely in our literary taste.

    Review at chapter 690
For those who have only read up to recent chapter and are angry at the character. I want to say I was reading this book a year ago and the character really annoyed me and I couldn’t continue reading the book. LET ME INFORM YOU I have come back to this book and it is a master piece he did what had to be done for the plot it is worth it it does get better. The character is a bad ass even if he is a “Good” character. He’s the f up sort of good where he will kill a whole city if he thinks it’s good for humanity. This is a must read trust me.

Like, some 90% of readers do? Not that great of a number is it? Huh? Mr. Hater?

And it got more than decent after just 200 to 250 chapters.

Read it or not DON'T hate it for no reason. Or are you saying you can do better?

            What'd you not like?

[I said what I said because your comment was the only one that just criticized the novel without any real explanation of the reason. So, to me it seemed like you were 'following the trend']

You a reader thinks it gets decent after 200 to 250 chapters lol why suffer 300 chapters to read something decent I've read 130 chapters myself and I can't understand how mc feels so guilty for one kids coma in a post apocalypse world where people die like weeds and he himself has killed a lot, it has no sense, idiotic

bro, thing is. There are people who have read looong novels, so they have no problem quickly reading (or skimming or binging) through 200 chaps and reach the good portion. I would probably be one of them, although I've not read this one (yet).

by seeing ur attitude, clearly, u have yet to reach that point where u cant find a single good novel and would rather suffer through 200 chaps of nonsense so that u can get to the good part. If u want recommendations instead, for a few good ones that are good right from the start then be my guest.

I've read long novels and I just got a bit impatient cause the earlier chapters were too crappy, it gets better as soon as outer dregs get wiped out

I dislike how the author self-destructed everyone with the f#cking blood sea that came out of nowhere cause the author was stuck on what to f#cking do but since you read further and said it was “good” I will try to read further past that piece of shit event

But it's like stock tho, the level goes really high then it f#cking sinks down... But to me reading through the bad parts is worth it since the good parts are more just good....

On 727 now so that’s around 400 chapters read and it’s good rn it’s a bit of a bore so ima read some Shadow Slave but it’s like a 9/10 right after the liaison stuff and a bit after until “that” happens then it goes into a bit of a 7/10 since I felt they could have hopefully gone more deeper into the liaison stuff though they “technically” did you know what I mean when I say that

it didn't get better after 400 chapters it is good from the beginning , but there were some chapters which people didn't like due to the MC hypocrisy, and even then there are reasons for it

    Note review at chapter 70:
I'm not sure how it could be written by the same author as Sword God in the Word of Magic. That novel was a masterpiece, It was and still is one of my top favourite novels (especially the end, it felt so good).

But this novel, it is bad, to say the least. Super cring MC who acts (and is) a child. The moral dilemmas he goes through are so annoying and cliche. It is painful to read.

and what's up with the low pace? Like it is a very slow novel. And nothing interesting is happing meanwhile.

I refuse to belive it is written by the same author as Sowrd God in the world of magic.

Sword God in the Word of Magic - The God of the Sword in the Word of Magic is an average novel in which the interaction and dialogues of the characters with each other are simply sickening. Maybe this is one of your first novels, so you are biased....

I have read more than 1000 novels (being doing this shit for 5 years).

And Sword... is one of my top five.

I truly loved the focus plot development with no bs happening at all. Especially after the first few arcs.

But this novel is completely opposite. All chapters I have read are bs with little to no development.

Retarded novel, author guilt traps the reader with disgusting scenarios, whatever tf happened with Korua there's no reason to waste ten chapters crying snot n tears in guilt man there are other ways mc could've shown his remorse after all this is a novel n no one wants to read such shitty chapters honestly felt disgusted, this shows the immature mentality of auther, 0 character development in mc that too when he copes with many life threatening situations
