And it's all bullshit. Specter Null wasn't supposed to make the hero special; on the contrary, he chose him because he was already special. I expected to see a story where the hero starts to look at the Specters from a different angle, more globally. Like people who have never felt human warmth and affection. He understands that Specters feed on emotions, but because of the destruction, poverty, death, and disease around them, none of them have ever seen anything else, so people use them as tools without really understanding the nature of their power, not trying to talk to them and understand their power, to use it in a different way, they themselves create disgusting monsters that feed on people. Because of his dream, he had to talk to the first Specter about the nature of his power (the first Specter Dreamer feeds on negative emotions in dreams, after such a dream a person feels tired) and suggest that he use his power in a different way, feeding on positive emotions instead of negative ones, so that after such dreams, people would feel rested and full of energy. And from there, his journey would begin, unlike that of others, a journey to help humanity on a global level. While everyone around him would say that Specters are emotionless monsters who, in their attempts to become stronger, only pursue their own interests, the hero would show humanity that this is not the case. Maybe not right away, but a little later, he would have to visit the upper level of the city, visit Albert, see what he saw there in 300+ chapters, and then understand it, because throughout the entire story there is no mention that Specters appear in the upper levels of the city; on the contrary, they mainly inhabit the lowest levels. The author should have emphasized that the problem is not in the increased security, but in the emotions and their quantity, and they feed on negative emotions because the first thing they see when they appear is negative emotions.
I understand that my expectations are my own problem, but the story in its current form is not interesting, just another world after another apocalypse. I'm not interested in seeing how the hero achieves success, what exactly he changes, all his inner experiences are empty, just like he is. The attempt to make everything too serious and gloomy shows that the author has never read any other serious books (not even literature textbooks). The cultivation is different in form, but I bet that if we look hard enough, we will find a Chinese book where the hero-cultivator also becomes stronger by feeding on other people's emotions.
