In the heart of the volcano, the remnants left behind by the sages yearned for their successors.

Risking her life, his mother obtained the Immortal Palace Seal, handing it to Ning Zhuo before her passing.

“The Buddha Heart Demon Seal!”

To transcend into either Buddha or the Demon.

With this seal grasped firmly, he could inscribe a heart seal and command the creation of puppets.

While ordinary individuals struggled under the weight of just controlling a few, the burden was exceptionally light for, Ning Zhuo, who effortlessly commanded tens of thousands with a single gesture.

“Mother, I will fulfill your wishes and obtain the Immortal Palace!” He vowed.

Indeed.

Immortal Puppets; capable of spiritual secrets; their work skillful and rational.

A new realm is opened up, and things are in sync with the heavens.

The ancient bell echoes the laws. The moon dances under the clear light.

Embodied with myriad strengths, who in this world dares oppose?

***

In the heart of a volcano lies a mystical Mechanized Palace, a relic left behind by ancient sages, patiently awaiting its successor. In a desperate bid for its treasure, a mother sacrificed her life to claim the palace’s sacred seal, entrusting it to her son, Ning Zhuo, in her final moments.

This is no ordinary artifact; it is the Buddha-Heart Devil Seal.

It holds a profound truth: to enlighten oneself is to become a Buddha, yet to guide others may turn one into a devil. By wielding this seal, one can etch spiritual marks and command intricate mechanisms with ease, bearing only the lightest burden. While others strain under the immense mental weight of controlling even a few of such devices, Ning Zhuo effortlessly commands thousands with a single thought.

“Mother, I will honor your wish,” vowed Ning Zhuo. “I will claim the Mechanized Palace!”

Thus begins his journey:

A tale of spiritual bonds and ingenious marvels,
Where craftsmanship reveals cosmic truths,
And innovation opens realms of possibility.

An ancient bell resonates with eternal laws,
Its chime dancing under the moon’s serene glow.
With a form embodying infinite potential,
Who on earth could stand as his equal? Collapse

I'm avoiding reading Reverend Insanity for 2 reasons
      1. reading chinese names are like thorns, and I'm not a camel
      2. its been banned without hope of getting back so I'll be left hanging if I read it.

so... should I read this novel or not, since same author ryt?

Brother, pls read Reverend Insanity, there's actually a lot of hope that it will be unbanned recently. In his fan group, the author stated that in the next round of unbans, he will attempt to appeal to Reverend Insanity and many Chinese fans in the fan group believe it is probable that it will be successfully unbanned.

Ah yes the thing that has remained banned for like how many years now? 6yrs. Sure, I'll read it when it gets unbanned when I become an old man.

ok I didnt mean to sound edgy there, but its honestly improbable for it to get unbanned when there was no success even after 6yrs. Though I admit that considering how so many ppl recommend it, it must be really worth its reputation.

I feel this is worse than Reverend Insanity as it’s not as meticulous, the MC participates in multiple things that he needs to hide his identity for while people are constantly investigating and suspecting a mastermind behind these actions, the problem is that the author creates crises multiple times created by carelessness in characters that are cautious schemers that think deeply before doing anything.

One time there was a witness that needed to be silenced, but she manage to write words at the time of her death without being noticed, she also had her mind influenced so she couldn’t speak of anything important, so this is just a plot hole. Even though there’s multiple methods such as mechanical constructs, an ally of the MC walks into a trap after returning to a hideout even though he knew people were looking for him and that it was only a matter of time before being found. There’s also other times when the MC was careless even though he has being trained since 2 years old(he has an innate talent that increases intelligence) by a demonic cultivator who emphasised scheming, caution, deception and keeping a low profile.

Another thing that doesn’t make sense is the MCs conflict over being righteous, i dont understand where his need to think of himself as righteous comes from. His mothers last words emphasise the dangers of exposing talent and keeping a low profile, she also sacrificed herself to gain an opportunity for the MC- clearly not a ‘righteous’ cultivator. He was taught by a demonic cultivator from 2 years old, but has always needed to self justify every he does as righteous, even though his view of righteousness is being hypocritical and maintaining reputation without much substance.

It’s a lot better than other cultivation novels because more effort was put into it and it’s not just the normal copy and paste cliche filled slop, so if you like cultivation novels then yes I’d recommend you try it.

I think you are being a bit unfair to the MC here, he is still very young and inexperient. He will obviously make mistakes. Fang Yuan was over 500 years old when Reverend Insanity started.
He is as calculating as Fang Yuan, he just makes more mistakes and doesn't have the advantage of future knowledge. If you haven't read ahead from what is available here(ch. 170), you don't know how calculating he really is. There are reveals later on that show events in very different lights.

In many ways I feel this book is an adaptation of Reverend Insanity. There are scenes and developments that are almost a mirror of what happens in RI.
Those are all things that happened in RI, but here the MC is not hell bent on staying out of the system, so the novel doesn't constantly attack the strutcture in power of the righteous path. Hopefully, with this concession, the lovely Chinese government won't ban him from writting... Again...

ok that's very helpful on understanding what the story would look like, thanks.
imo it makes the story more natural with this imperfections. I honestly think RI has that unnatural feeling to it, everything is so intricate and it feels like the novel knows that there are readers appraising it, trying to satisfy them making it feels unrealistic sometimes tbh.

Fellow Daoist, I’m curious—at which chapter did you feel it wasn’t up to the mark? I’ve read continuously up to chapter 251, and never once did I feel that Gu Zhen Ren has faltered. In fact, I’m thoroughly enjoying it! While it may not yet compare to Reverend Insanity since this is only the beginning, I believe Gu Zhen Ren is intentionally taking his time. First, he’s developing the MC’s character, and then he’ll slowly reveal the world and the grander plot, eventually leading to an impactful ending.

Perhaps it’s the translation quality or the lack of grand schemes at this point that left you feeling this way, but for me, it has been nothing short of impressive. Up until now, it hasn’t disappointed me one bit. I’d still give it a solid 10/10

Kind of agree, everything else was well thought out, but I find the MC to be less interesting and the author constantly leaves plot holes in order to create danger for the MC- like clues that could expose his past actions or his ally calling for help after being reckless.

That is how you judge the novel? The speed of advancement of the MC? You realise the only reason Fang Yuan could cultivate fast is because he was recultivating, right? And he wasn't even that fast, specially early on, only a little faster than his competition.
I prefer Reverend Insanity over this becase the MC is more mature, but I wouldn't say this is due to the author's writing. It makes sense for this MC to be less mature than Fang Yuan, he is almost 600 years younger than Fang Yuan. Of course he will be less mature, of coure he will make more mistakes.

bro, 210-220 and he is still Qi Refinig wtf, we are not talking here about the time (years) he takes to advance, it's about the novel itself, more than 200 chapters and he is still in this realm (I'm assuming that like other cultivation novels the Qi Refining realm is the weakest since I haven't read this novel) and cultivation novels have a LOT of realms.

After Reading 337 chapters This is Just PEAK...
    Answering butnarchek Review
the guy who reads Cultivation Online and is in the current chapters (1600+ chapters btw)...
His "Criticism" was that the protagonist is not intelligent or special, and the argument for not being intelligent was that the protagonist went to ask a master for some tips but ended up telling him about the product he created and made an agreement to sell this product. (so he found this nonsense and dropped the novel).
Spoiler for answering, Will not affect the expirience of the novel...
first the protagonist already knew what he was asking about, his real intention was to create an alibi because of his subsequent action of blowing up the palace, in this world detective skills are very stolen so in order not to make it obvious that he was the one who blew up the palace, he will talk with this master with the intention of selling his construction so that when they discover that the cause of x event was an explosive monkey, they don't go straight to him but to several other people who bought the construction as well...
    About MC not being Special
Ning Zuo character is interesting because he already has an immense cognitive capacity for winning a treasure before he was even born, extremely manipulative, ruthless, master in the art of the righteous path, quite humble in addition to the fact that his character is always "developing" because he is a child and it is explained why his personality is like this...

Remember, this novel is focused on politics and schemes, 4 factions fighting for 1 objective. at least the 1st volume...

Just the quality of This novel is 4.5 atleast
    For me 4.8/5

Are you sure you read my comment correctly? Yeah, the main reason I quit reading this is "the author first tells us he's being careful and hiding his skills for 14 years, but 3 chapters in he just reveals his secret to a guy he just met." Now use your brain for a second and read your comment. 1. The main intent is to create an alibi? Is he in a different place at the time of the crime? Did it happen here? No! 2. So that it wouldn't be obvious that he created a puppet? The guy hid for 10 years without showing his skills, everyone thinks he's just average, when he has a second personality as a talented puppeteer and yet no one found him, and what's the most brilliant move according to the author of the book and the author of the comment? Selling the blueprint for the weapon he'll use to commit the crime so that they don't come to him first... He didn't wait a year for it to spread and for there to be any logic to it, no. And about the main character's peculiarity, this is not a criticism of the book, it's just a fact. He doesn't have any special abilities and I didn't say that it's bad, he doesn't just not have them. I don't like it when the main devil has no special ability, many people like it and that's normal. And all this would be a trifle if it was the main character who grew up in a calm and safe environment, because these would be logical mistakes and naivety. But when the same thing is done by a boy who was taught from childhood not to trust anyone and to hide everything, it's extremely stupid.

It could be great if it had a proper translation. It’s ChatGPT translated which for the most part isn’t terrible if someone edits it properly but the quality rapidly deteriorates by about chapter 40. There’s even a few times where it literally says GPT in the text lol. As of writing this, chapter 86 is the last one available here but on a different website I found it going all the way up to 200s but the GPT translation was by chap 91 equivalent to MTL and I had to stop because it was so bad. To be honest, don’t waste your time with this until someone half-decent picks it up to translate properly. It is very good and if you read it you’ll love it, but, just like with Reverend Insanity, you’re going to be sat there with no continuation unless you let yourself ruin the experience by reading MTL+ level translation. Just wait and let it stack for another year is what I recommend.

For me it’s the constantly changing terms and mixing of tenses along with poor use of quotation, typos and occasional grammar mistakes that ruins it. For example, the chapter before I stopped, Ning Zhou’s uncle was referred to by 2 different names and I only realised they were both him through context, the quotation marks for Ning Xieren (Ning clan young lord) speaking were in the wrong places and he kept swapping from past to present tense (also happened in the overall narration). This completely takes you out of the reading experience as instead of thinking about the current situation and what might happen next you spend your time figuring out what is even going on and I just kept getting distracted by this. As I said, it’s better than MTL but I shouldn’t have to read like this in the first place so I’d rather wait for someone like Deathblade (someone a quarter as good would be sufficient) who knows what they are doing to translate it. Imagine if when reading RI, Fang Yuans brother Fang Zheng’s name would change to Zang to Zen to Zeng to Zheng chapter to chapter and even within each chapter. It’s a matter of preference so if it works for you go for it, just doesn’t work for me is all :) P.S I’ve definitely been spoiled by reading books and all the good novels with proper translations already so digging for gems now is tough work

Brief overview 1. Translation, slightly better than Google translator. 2. The hero, the main reason why I quit reading this, the author first tells us that he is cautious and hides his skills for 14 years, but after 3 chapters he just shows his secret to a person he just met, and this makes no sense at all since he just came to ask for advice on how to make his material more fireproof. 2. Secondary characters are very well developed, of course they are standard Chinese heroes but they have at least some logic. 3 The cultivation system is very standard at least in the beginning, so it does not present anything new but does not disappoint. 4. If anyone is wondering if there is some special feature in the hero, then no, the author tries to present him as quite smart, although I would not call him that, and a talented puppeteer, that's all. He does not have any special ability, further his uniqueness will most likely depend simply on artifacts. The only reason why it has such a high rating is most likely the author's past books and his fans. 3/5

I think you probably gave up on it too soon and you were expecting the character to be as cautious and calculating as Fang Yuan. There is a difference between a cautious kid and a cautious reincarnated cultivator with over 500 years of experience. The MC here is very young and never even left the starting area. He has very little experience, very little strength and no knowledge of the future, of course he will make more mistakes, sometimes reveal more than he needed to, etc. Also, there are reveals later on that change how you feel about those 'mistakes'.

And yes, I read 30 chapters, which is quite a bit, but I usually don't read more if I don't like the book, I won't read 300 chapters in the hopes that I'll like it. I didn't even write that the book is bad, no, it's okay, but definitely not 4.7 stars, because when point 2 happened, for me it means that I won't read it further, because it irritates me. Those who don't mind it will like the book, but even for them I doubt that an honest rating will be more than 4.2
