On the way to a company workshop, we fell into a world of immortal cultivators while still in the car.

Those with spiritual roots and unique abilities were all called to join cultivation sects, living prosperously.

But I, having neither spiritual roots nor special abilities, lived as an ordinary mortal for 50 years, complying with fate until my death.

That’s what I thought.

Until I regressed. Collapse

OK, I've gotten to Chapter 22 now and I think I'm dropping it. I left a review below at 15. I think it's still not terrible by any means, but it's a bit too slow for me and I'm not a fan of the MC.

He is still not using his Regression properly, and is even finding out new things that don't make sense given his prior regressions.

In one prior life he ran a (supposedly) successful information organisation which controlled and manipulated all information, even about themselves. Yet in this latest life he learns that absolutely TONS of peasants have been missing and used as medicine to extend cultivator lifespans.
Supposedly the reason we are supposed to accept behind why he never found out before is that the royal family and cultivators were involved and hid the actual pill making facilities behind formations...but he was literally in charge of an entire information org...surely it would be obvious that a large number of people have just gone missing, regardless of whether or not they can see where they went? The gang was made up of a bunch of high level martial artists as well - ones who clearly had a Grudge against cultivators given what happened to them, so it's unlikely that they would choose to conceal the information.
Given how all cultivators, even at Qi Refining 1, see themselves as superior to everyone else and think of martial artists as insects, i doubt they would go out of their way to ensure MCs organisation was kept in the dark about this.

I'm terms of his Regression utilisation, he is still solely on Martial Arts and nothing else. He is insanely untalented for it, yet always chooses to focus every single Regression on it. Since basically the second Regression he believes he has an infinite number of them, yet he never makes any major differences to gather more information or useful plants at the start.

He has never chosen to just leave his colleagues behind at the start. He could easily leave after getting his arm healed, but before being teleported away by the last cultivator. Then he could explore around the area for better herbs or ginseng or maybe even some other rare encounters. This would help start him start off much better in the future, since he can just search for as many rare plants as possible to help boost his initial strength, yet he never explores this at all.

There are some minor timeskips within each Regression, but the vast majority of things are gone over in slow detail. There hasn't been any Regression that's ended early, nor any where he chooses to go and just explore or gain knowledge - just Martial arts again and again. Given his lack of talent it takes either the entirety of, or maybe even multiple regressions for him to break through a small realm as well. His friend continues to get stronger and stronger, being able to fight slightly higher level cultivators much more quickly, but even then Martial arts seem so inferior to cultivation that him spending EVERY Regression on it, especially with his lack of talent, makes it kinda annoying for me.

Lastly, the MC and other Martial Artists are kinda dumb, with the MC being a bit of a hypocrite imo. In this latest life MC was a protector of the Emperor for many years. When he decides to go against him after finding out about them using people as pills, he meets with a group of martial artists who, rightfully, have distrust for him and worry about him being a spy. Yet he simply criticises the Emperor in front of them and then they're all fine:

For hypocrisy, MC has previously killed a bandit camp, then stole some clothes and money from one of their buildings, yet he and the other Martial Artists feel that the Cultivators looting the bodies of the defeated ones is too far.

It just feels kinda hypocritical that MC is fine with using underhanded techniques when fighting, resorting to hidden weapons, potions, poisons, drugs etc. as well as looting the belongings of those he kills, but then if they just so happen to have those belongings on them it's too much? Especially for a ruthless martial arts/cultivation world like this?

I deleted by big review by accident. Anyways i think your opinion based off just 22 chapters is absolute shit and don't blame me but I think you couldn't handle reading the novel bit more or trying to understand certain humane perspective which MC has. Humans are hypocrite and that's literally what MC admits later on. As for changing the first day scenario well its like trying to change the whole plotline cos author did say its all about fate.

NOW FOR MY OTHER FELLOW READERS:
I don't promote a novel generally and never leave a review as well but i think the hate on this novel just cos some pea brained people can't understand the human nature conveyed in novel is unreal. Well for some facts now as to why I like this novel and why it should be read.
      1. For fellow light novel enjoyers MC doesn't become insanely OP just because that's his destiny or should i say talent
      2. MC hates his regression ability so for someone to say he doesn't use it well. It's cos MC fears his ability. Imagine getting stuck in a loop, having friends and family only for them to forget you bcos u regressed. That's why this novel is better than other regressing novels
      3. MC is naive but i think its naive nature of his that the moon guy thinks he's hypocrite (well he's a modern man). MC is naive and only care for the bonds he created not saving unrelated people, no arrogant young masters i can assure you as I've read 180 chapters.
      4. He gets smarter and more mature. Well by time who doesn't.
      5. **SPOILER ALERT**

I also forgot to add that MC loses his memory like a normal human with each regression

Normally I read much more chapters before leaving a review, but given the length of these chapters, compared to others, using the chapter number to dismiss things is pretty dumb. Nowadays most webnovels have their original chapters cut into 2 or 3 smaller chapters - the amount of content read is more important than the chapter. Some of these chapters are like 4k/5k in length.

Regardless of if you disagree with that or not, the fact is that I sat through MULTIPLE regressions before deciding to drop it, rather than just after the first or second. There's no point just being all 'trust me bro it gets better'.

How he acts doesn't feel "normal" or "humane" or anything. There is nothing about some of his actions that conform to normal "human nature". As soon as he figures out he can regress more than once he IMMEDIATELY decides that it is a terrible thing and makes it his main goal to get rid of it. Normally people would explore things, increase their knowledge, increase their skills etc. first BEFORE then deciding to try and break free or look for a way out. The movie "Groundhog Day" and the novel "Mother of Learning" are great examples of how normal people would act in a timeloop/multiple regression scenario.

As for changing the first day scenario well its like trying to change the whole plotline cos author did say its all about fate.

So? It's a regression for a reason. No matter what he does, it should go back to normal upon his death. Any normal person would try and experiment with things, especially early on in the regression where it doesn't matter as much for it to be reset straight away. Other than choosing to make things a bit easier by finding the cave, sacrificing his arm and then finding some ginseng, he basically never changes his initial start again, other than asking some different questions. That's not normal human nature.

For your 2 point, again see "Groundhog day" and "Mother of Learning" for how regular people would act if they got stuck in a cycle of regressions/timeloops. Most EVERYONE would try and take advantage of it first, before LATER trying to be free of it. Him hating it and not utilising it properly is not a positive AT ALL imo. There is nothing worse in a novel when the MC doesn't utilise things properly; this doesn't mean they have to be all 10 billion IQ people who have to squeeze out every single drop of benefit. But at least using and exploring their own power/cheat like a normal person would be way better than this.

I'm at Chapter 15 - they are fairly long chapters. It's OK, but MC isn't utilising his Regression properly at all.

He has absolutely no talent for anything at all, which he has known since before his first regression. Yet in all of them he has made Martial Arts his primary focus. He does learn some other skills throughout each life, but they are all only mentioned in passing as side things. The only one who really benefits from his regression is his talented friend. Each time the friend gives MC an inheritance to pass on to others in the future, but since he always regresses after 50 years he passes it back to him at the start so that he can go even further beyond.

MC never really uses his future knowledge, other than to benefit his friend and the organisation his friend sometimes creates. He basically uses his Regression as extra practice time to make up for his lack of talent, rather than as a benefit he can use to exploit and "predict" the future.

It's still pretty interesting, and the MC isn't particularly stupid/dumb, just unimaginative when it comes to his power, I guess. I'm hoping he improves going forward - it's still fairly early so I will continue reading on for now.

Bro he can't use his knowledge in rhe first few regressions cause it never worked. At the start of each he tried to change things but u will know in the future that it never changed much and in the world of cultivators his knowledge of mudane martial world is useless. He is f#cking talentless , he only has his will to end his endless regressions moving him forward at the start. Thats y he is doing everything to help his friend cause he knows he will create the martial arts to breakthrough to qi refining. Its gets better as it goes on

I mean he DOES use his knowledge even at the start, but just never properly. He always makes sure to remember where the cave is, where the rare ginseng is etc. Even if he does make changes, that doesnt mean that literally everything also changes.

If there was a rare Herb location he found in one life, then that's not going to change in the next. You'd think he'd actively search for more of these types of things that could help him, rather than focus on Martial Arts where he has absolutely no talent whatsoever.

This novel had the charms upto 60 chapters after that it went down hill with repetition, Righteousness Mc that doesn't want anything related to evil...In 900 yrs he forgets about modern day mobile but still wants to save the bullying boss and female employe like he wants to save the children....All chapters are depressing... He walks around characterizing others as mad..but the protagonist himself turns into sad & he himself doesn't know that he has fallen into depravity madness righteous Protagonist syndrome....Very Bad experience I myself wanted to through this in trash...

You should go read "My Longevity Stimulator" and see how much better a story can get with the same setting if MC isnt a naive stubborn fool with a hero complex. The main problem with this MC is that he fail to assimilate with the new world and stubborn stuck to morality from a different world which is the source of most of his suffering.

Funny enough I am reading that.
Anywho uh...yeah I gotta disagree. The Main Character of Longevity rarely grows/changes and even if he does you barely notice it because it doesn't show a contrast between him at the start and end
That's why RTOC is so good is because it shows his growth, it shows him struggling, it shows him at his best and worst moments. It gets us to empathize, understand, and know him better then the MC of Longevity. It allows us to understand his decisions, his "naivity"
Speaking of naivity he is not a stubborn, naive, heroic fool. He's human and is actively trying to remain human. If you gave this even 10 minutes of your time
          you'd understand that.

Yes, I understand that people have different tastes or appreciate different characters but to call something that barely has an ounce of Character Growth better is on par with SpaceBattles thinking Character Development(This ended quite a bit of mine and other people's favorites. RIP the Conceptual Deck and the First? Gamer one here)involves only suffering and pain. It's understandable but there is so much more depth and nuance to it.

Anywho uh...have a great day mate.

            I gotta disagree with that..
MC from my longevity simulator is far better, he is already mature and don't need much character growth, as time passes he became more and more different kind of person, you can easily tell the difference between when he started simulation and current him in novel, he doesn't waste years just stuck in one place, he always try to create more trouble for faster growth as death just means new start. And most importantly he knows how to move on and not stuck in past.

Most character growth stories are about young teenagers that take them 5-6 years to reach mature personality, if your character need hundreds of years to reach understanding towards world and become "mature" something is wrong with your character, after hundreds of years, character do might face some personality changes but it will be very small with each years passing, it's upto author to show how those changes happen.

Even adults can have character growths. Man who is staunch in his ways and blindly follows his principles slowly busy the end of story learns to ve accommodating to the needs of others. This is also a character development. They are totally different. My longevity system mc was born in that era and already experienced all the treachery and hardships and evils of humans .
This mc is a f#cking human in his 20s from earth who is a talentless as me and still trying to do everything he can to continue forward.

In my longevity system, mc knew of cultivators very early on and found ways to get them for himself and start his journey. Here he didn't even know about them until end of 2nd or 3rd regression. That one is a cultivation novel with regression added into the mix . U know it cause he had

, here mc has nothing, he has no system and doesn't know how the world works at the start .

This one shows wht time does to someone especially in later arc/regression . Its soo beautifully showcases emotional journey of a native kind hearted human who is trying his very best to not lose his humanity . It has cultivation but its not the main focus .

MLS MC was a transmigrator not a native from the cultivation world, Yes he was transmigrated as a newborn but he had the memory and morals of his past life which didnt stop him from being the best he can be. Just like this MC he also spend his first life he transmigrated as a normal human without seeing or knowing about any cultivators, it was only near the end of his lifspan that he knew about the cultivators. Even after knowing he was a mere ant compare to those god like being but he never lost hope, did anything and everything he could to defy his fate and finally succeeded. If he acted like this MC he'd have live a few life as mortal and died, there's noway he would've achieved what he did in the story. Also, The biggest problem is That MC didnt see his gift of regression as a curse, he saw it for the gift it is, unlike this one who hated it from get go. Ungrateful is what I'd call him, he deserve to die in that nameless village as a nobody and never expreience the amazing things in his later life. All that comes from his gift...he'd have never met his master, his desciples, his fiancee, never have a hope of saving his friends...all that comes from his gift that he regard with so much contempt.

True , my bad about MLS , its been a long time since i read it( waiting for it to stack ) i only remember from when he was already old and was minister.

This mc wht u said is true , at the start he does regard it with contempt cause he fears he can never get out of the loop . Slowly forget everyone he ever remembers in past regressions, even bigger fear that everyone he loves will never remember their experiences with him in that past regressions. He is more emotional and attached person and naive than MLS .

Later on regression he does accept his gift/fate that is his regressions and is currently as the comment down and u said , doing Everything to plan out and become stronger so that he can create his ideal regression

But he had a system. This MC doesn't know shit about cultivators or never ever read any novels about it. I read MLS and that MC had knowledge of this concept witha system in hand. Obviously he searched for cultivators and obv he could do better and its not that MC reached any higher level. From what i remember MLS MC was still in foundation building stage when i last read it and its only been like 10-15 days when i last read it

I like this quite a bit. Whenever I'm reading this it feels like the determination is coming inside of me. It's slow but i guess that's to be expected when it's a truly talentless guy that can only advance due to his ability to regress. The world's alright, mostly standard xianxia stuff. The translation can also be stiff but it's alright. I feel like the characters are really the driving force of this story. It's depressing at times(most of the time), and you can feel the sadness and all the other emotions that the MC feels.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the fight scenes are really good in this. Even if you don't like the tragedy aspect the action is worth it.
    3.75* Translation
    4* world
    4.5* story

Overall, a great and emotional novel.

This is the same genre of novel as "Shadow Slave", extremely well written but heart wrenching tragedies again and again and again... excessively imo.

-- Read, if you like MC who likes to burn himself so he can warm someone else for a night even knowing that action is going to be meaningless since that person is..lets say, poisoned and will die without doubt.(and he can change this next time he regress) but You have to sit and read the whole night of misery of mc's buring flesh and soul while that person beg MC to stop since they're both going to die but mc not stopping since its the "right thing to do" and suddenly by morning you learn mc accidentally cause forest fire that burn down the orphanage. OH, its not over yet...in the orphanage he might find the the remains of his friend's only child and when he die in such soul crushing despair and sorrow, he go back and repeat another cycle that even worse than this one.

If you think my example is bad, you are NOT ready for what's in the book.

I am at chapter 51 right now while this story is very well written and is very interesting, expect soul crushing tragedy, repeatedly. And things just keep getting worse and worse and worse. There are some nice, things are getting better moments, but they are all bittersweet and tragedy follows soon after.

I vote to rename this story as the "Repeatedly Tortured Soul's Tale in Cultivation".
