On the way to a company workshop, we fell into a world of immortal cultivators while still in the car.

Those with spiritual roots and unique abilities were all called to join cultivation sects, living prosperously.

But I, having neither spiritual roots nor special abilities, lived as an ordinary mortal for 50 years, complying with fate until my death.

That’s what I thought.

Until I regressed. Collapse

Good novel. Give it a read. Beware it's not for those with progression fantasy and quick level ups.

At chapter 180 and I think it's great actually, yeah different people have different tastes, and a lot of people may not be able to stomach the continuous tragedies, but If you're able to endure slow-paced progression and a gradual unravelling of the plot, you'll like it. As for those speaking about his hero-complex, I think that's not a valid point, cuz all MCs cannot have the same personality. Whether he's a saint or a villain, when it's written well and you still don't enjoy it, then it's not just your taste.

I personally like his naivety though, and his strong desire to preserve his humanity and principles.

Though I do agree with MoonshineOmega on several cases, especially the part where
I was extremely peeved. and it was also illogical

All in all, it has it's flaws but it's very good.

    Quote: MoonshineOmega
I'm at Chapter 15 - they are fairly long chapters. It's OK, but MC isn't utilising his Regression properly at all.

He has absolutely no talent for anything at all, which he has known since before his first regression. Yet in all of them he has made Martial Arts his primary focus. He does learn some other skills throughout each life, but they are all only mentioned in passing as side things. The only one who really benefits from his regression is his talented friend. Each time the friend gives MC an inheritance to pass on to others in the future, but since he always regresses after 50 years he passes it back to him at the start so that he can go even further beyond.

MC never really uses his future knowledge, other than to benefit his friend and the organisation his friend sometimes creates. He basically uses his Regression as extra practice time to make up for his lack of talent, rather than as a benefit he can use to exploit and "predict" the future.

It's still pretty interesting, and the MC isn't particularly stupid/dumb, just unimaginative when it comes to his power, I guess. I'm hoping he improves going forward - it's still fairly early so I will continue reading on for now.

It does get better knowledge is extremely powerful here. You'll truly know the power of knowledge or better yet understanding when he break through that realm. Usually I kinda hate regression novels because it's basically either some know it all or the regression has no weight on the story what so ever. Here however there is weight and the butterfly effect is real. Sometimes you think you know how a regression is gonna map out and it just takes a left field revealing more mystery or lore because he did something he didn't before and that has ramifications.

Haven't started reading it yet, but the amount of people complaining that some people haven't read enough, and that way trashier novels have people reading more chapters is funny to me.
    Bad ≠ Not fun.
If you're having fun reading, watching, etc., then the quality of the material doesn't really matter. It could be the worst thing ever written, but you would still read it because it brings you entertainment. Some people obviously don't enjoy it enough to read past 20 chapters, and that's fine. Different people have different tastes. Quality varies from person to person. A treasure to one may not be to another. This is especially true for webnovels, because most don't come here to find some exceptional philosophical work that would change their entire worldview, or anything along those lines. No, people come here to kill time, let out a chuckle or two, then go on with their day.

D- tier novel, arrogant young masters LARPING this as high-tier work are in the comments, beware not to fall for the crowds chatters....

MoonshineOmega already had valid critique all I will add is that this MC is way too reasonable, everything is written to be relatable for normies. You can always predict the next chapter, the regression (at ch 20) has 0 impact on the development of the story and just functions as a cheat for him to reach higher realm instantly on rebirth --> very little pro-activeness, no making trouble/ testing limits.

The most egregious part is that the author has a writing style where we follow the MC in the moment and the MC never makes plans. Its very convenient for him to then reach into his .. and pull out plot devices from deep within.

The only "epic moment" in the first ch 20 is that he
(no benefits, no tangible result, just mentality improvement, no impact on story). Otherwise its more bland than instant noodles without the seasoning pack.

The fight scenes is like it was written by some budget ChatGPT : e.g. on the biggest boss-fight so far author proceeds to list out all 23 martial techniques from MC cultivatio n like "name of martial technique" = diagonal slash from top left to bottom right 3 times in a row... (he does this 20+ times and thats the whole chapter XD). Well you get the idea what sort of garbage it is to read.

Basically it has none of the classic trash tier novel stuffs (faceslap, jade beauty, junior you dare shamelessness, auction, etc.) --> this can make it seem high quality to NPC daoists in the comments. But what you are missing is that this novel is pure garbage in itself. There are no redeeming parts. It is not a parody of those trash tier novels (funny), it is not a unique/ deep work (mystery or proactive MC) and it is also not a work with well fleshed out character relationships / politics / scheming. I think in only 20 chapters author has already told us that MC and his current buddy are from the same hometown 10 times and that seems to be the epitome of interpersonal relationships in this work.

My brother in christ! What can I even say? I don't like arguing with people, I think everyone deserves their own opinion and what not. But is 20 chapters enough to judge a book? I know we have all been spoon fed the webnovel trash food where the mc becomes a god in 5 chapters but not every novel is epic moments and has something called a plot. This mc has ZERO FUCKING TALENT get that to your head that means the regression is the only way he can achieve something. In this novel regression is a really op talent but has it's drawbacks such as MC NOT HAVING ANY TALENT. I know I am explaining this to you like how I would do to a kindergartener but as I said not every novel is fast paced or mc with a fixed awesome, face slapping and all knowing personality. And the entire criticism of this being cliche or predictable...my brother in christ this is a CULTIVATION NOVEL! IN A CULTIVATION NOVEL YOU ADVANCE IN LEVEL AND LEVEL UP. EVERYSINGLE CULTIVATION NOVEL HAS THE EXACT THING? What do you expect from the author the mc suddenly starts a corporate company in the cultivation world? Is that what you meant by unique?
I am really sorry for going on a rant but when I see it makes me really frustrated. I mean you dont have to This is not a literary masterpiece my dawg it is an online serialized novel

Same bro . I don't get it why this novel is making people impatient . Like they havent even got to the best parts man. They can not like it , fair enough but like just giving this 20 chapters while some dogshit novels get more patient readers.

20 chapters is MORE than enough to judge THIS book, given the length of some of the chapters. This isn't like others where they cut 1 chapter into 2 or 3 which barely reaches 1k words each. Some of these chapters are 4k/5k in length.

The issue isn't with him having no martial arts/cultivation talent. It's with his actions. He doesn't explore his regressions by doing something different at the start. He doesn't choose to spend some time focusing mainly on improving himself in other directions either. He focuses SOLELY on Martial Arts, which he has no talent for whatsoever, and then only learns other skills in passing. Him learning espionage and all those skills to become a good information broker in one life is basically just dropped in out of nowhere. There isn't any mention of him finding it extremely difficult there, so clearly he isn't just untalented at EVERYTHING.

You have clearly not read enough cultivation novels if you think all of them are solely advancing in levels. The vast majority of even somewhat decent cultivation novels have other skills that the MC spends time to learn as well - Alchemy, Formations, Herbology, Blacksmithing, Beast Taming etc.
These may not all be available for MC to learn (though Herbology and Blacksmithing DEFINETLY would be), but the fact he stays focused on martial arts only is just so dumb. The fact that the pacing is so slow doesn't help either.

If this is such a masterpiece then can you actually counter some of the arguments made against it?
Why doesn't he try and learn other skills?
Why does he never bother to try and change more things at the start of each regression?
Why does him simply insulting the emperor in a private setting make him trustworthy?
Why was he able to run a supposedly successful information broker that controlled the flow of information all around his area, as well as had the ability to basically hide their true background, yet he NEVER found out about the MASSIVE amounts of missing people seemingly EVERYWHERE?

U just didn't read it enough to understand the plot. By chapter 180 you will realise it has much more emotions than a typical novel of yours, including that mc's humane yet principled behaviour is what author is striving for. You will realise MC only protects his own and the bonds he creates not some random people.

Guys , read this as a slice of life, emotional, kinda elements mixed with cultivation. This is by no means a cultivation novel like MLS , RI , Outside of Time or anything close to them. This is totally different approach to cultivation world compared to them. Mc is naive at the beginning and through alot of the regressions . This novel is one which is trying to use emotions of mc towards humans and his companions to continue the story and a very slow one to develop mc emotions.Ik it kinda sounds lame but its really cool story .

U have to be patient through the first few regressions as nothing much happens in them and everyone is treating them as shit and dropping it .

Im not against anyone dropping it ,i am writing this because i feel as a reader who really loved this novels approach that maybe ,just maybe people are dropping this and this is my opinion that they are missing the charm ( i agree about the plotholes and stuff, i am talking about people who shitting on it for its slow pace or cultivation absence at the beginning few regressions) .

Ig if u cant make it past 50-60 chapters or until he reaches second realm of cultivation . This is not for u .

Ps: that regression ending was one of the best . ,😅
