Absolutely, the beginning can be challenging, and someone lacking experience becomes better as they go as well.

A question for anyone who reads this: does someone need to endure 10, 100, 1000 bad chapters to finally get something good?
My opinion is that no one has to, and judging a book by a weak beginning is entirely valid — after all, if you can't captivate your audience from the beginning, it doesn't matter how good your writing is after chapter 5000. Write something fully expecting it to be bad and/or not well-received, then make something else, or rewrite it, when you have the skill.

For comparison: the average printed novel is equivalent to ~14–35 webnovel chapters — depending on length; some webnovels are 2k words per chapter, others are 5+k — but let's agree on 20. If I have to read even "just" 20 chapters to judge a 3000+ chapter webnovel, it is equivalent to a full book.
Therefore, to people who say "it gets better by chapter 50/80/100/300", that just means the novel is bad. If it isn't good by chapter FIVE, the novel is simply bad.
