Chapter 257: Indoor master, black cat eyes! |
"What's so interesting about a dead person? Isn't this just a regular occurrence in the Horror World?" The tall man's game ID was Black Tiger, and he spoke indifferently.
"Or are you scared?"
The other man's face darkened, and he said, "I mean, could there be anything valuable on her?"
"Dead and still wearing a wedding dress? Quite vain, so it's possible. Should we strip her and check?"
Black Tiger suggested, but no one stepped forward.
Everyone in this instance was experienced, no one was a fool.
"You're all cowards, and you still want to accomplish big things?" Black Tiger scolded.
"If you're so brave, why don't you do it?"
"Judging by your looks, you seem quite tempted by her figure, right? Why don't you do it?" Fang Ye adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and glanced at him.
"This bride's eyes have been gouged out, and there's a pool of blood in her stomach. She was clearly murdered, and deaths like this usually carry resentment, which might be pent up in her stomach or throat."
"Like a bomb, touching it might cause her to resurrect."
Qin Nuo bluntly stated, looking at the others, "Who wants to take this risk?"
No one spoke.
"Since we're all cowards, let's keep looking elsewhere."
"Agreed." Black Tiger's two teammates nodded.
As they turned to focus on other areas, a noise came from the window.
It was the black cat from the alley, jumping in from outside and leisurely walking on the wooden boards.
"It looks quite plump, maybe we can take it back to the train as food reserves."
Black Tiger eyed the black cat, licking his lips, considering it.
Qin Nuo calmly said, "I think this cat could probably kill you."
This comment choked Black Tiger, and he glared at Fang Ye and Qin Nuo, growing more and more annoyed.
At that moment, the black cat jumped onto the bride, curled up in her arms, and lay down comfortably, but its eyes remained fixed on Qin Nuo and the others.
Clearly, this was the bride's pet.
Black Tiger and his group didn't waste more time there, planning to explore other parts of the house.
"Where do you guests come from?"
But as they turned, the bride suddenly spoke.
Everyone's nerves tightened, secretly gripping their ghost creatures, warily watching the bride.
With caution and a chill, Black Tiger's group hesitated, and Qin Nuo spoke, "We're travelers passing through this village, entering the house uninvited, meaning no offense, just looking for some travel expenses to continue our journey."
He finished and added, "Also, your cat is very cute, right up my alley."
The group couldn't help but glance back at Qin Nuo.
Is this guy showing off?
The bride didn't lift her head, and the congealed blood on her body gradually dissolved, becoming vibrant again.
Besides the cold air, a strange aura filled the house.
"This house hasn't had guests for a long time."
"How much time has passed? How long have I been sitting here?"
"I've forgotten, but some things I remember clearly..."
Black Tiger's group looked puzzled. What was she muttering about?
The atmosphere felt tense, and they stood there, unsure whether to continue searching or sit down and chat with the bride.
"If you're not welcoming, we'll just leave," one person said, feeling a bit cowardly.
The more a ghost likes to mutter to itself, the more unpredictable and terrifying it is.
"I can give you what you want."
The bride spoke softly, her voice pleasant.
"Really? We'd be very grateful!" Black Tiger's group brightened, speaking eagerly.
"But before that, I hope you can find something for me."
"It's my most precious thing, and it disappeared in this house. I hope you can help me find it."
The group fell silent, and Black Tiger asked, "What is it?"
The bride didn't answer, but the black cat in her arms lifted its head, looking around the room.
"It's my precious thing, I hope you can find it..."
The bride began to repeat the phrase, her head lowered, blood flowing from her eyes down her pale face, creating a horrifying sight.
"If you don't say what it is, how are we supposed to find it?" Black Tiger's face darkened, but he didn't dare lose his temper with the bride.
"Let's just look around."
A female player with a ponytail glanced at the bride, speaking meaningfully, "If it doesn't work out, we have other ways."
The three left to continue searching the house, still thinking that if they found ghost money, they'd just run.
Qin Nuo watched the muttering bride, his gaze fixed on her horrifying face.
"Ding! Passive skill Eye of Analysis triggered..."
After a long silence, Qin Nuo's eyes refocused, signaling Fang Ye, and they walked away.
Fang Ye followed, asking, "Do you have a lead?"
Qin Nuo didn't answer, opening a drawer and taking out the wedding photo frame.
Then he headed to a room, with Fang Ye following, puzzled.
"What does the photo frame represent?"
Qin Nuo leaned against a wall, saying, "The house belongs to a newlywed couple. The bride died horribly, ruling out suicide, and the groom is missing. Could it be the groom who killed her?"
"The bride said her most precious thing is missing. Could she be referring to her husband?"
Fang Ye frowned, "For a husband who killed her, shouldn't she hate him? Isn't calling him her beloved a bit far-fetched?"
Qin Nuo shook his head, "In horror games, I've seen too many twisted, perverse loves."
"This kind of love transcends life and death."
"Sounds quite fantastical. So we're looking for the groom's body?" Fang Ye asked.
"The body, yes, but we don't know if it can move."
"We shouldn't overcomplicate things." Qin Nuo said while wiping dust off the photo frame with his sleeve.
Fang Ye hesitated, "Alright, let's split up."
If it were anyone else, he wouldn't even bother listening, but he had seen Qin Nuo's skills at Saint Yasi Asylum.
Outside the room, some sounds could be heard.
Fang Ye stepped out to see a distant figure.
"It's one of their team."
Fang Ye looked back at Qin Nuo, frowning slightly, "They heard everything we said."
Qin Nuo remained unhurried, opening the drawers with a smile, "I know, I said it on purpose."
"Actually, it's not as simple as I made it sound. In this situation, we need a few people to take the fall."
Fang Ye was momentarily stunned, then realized, and couldn't help but say, "You look simple-minded, but you're more cunning than anyone I've met!"
Qin Nuo was speechless, "I'll take that as a compliment."
Upstairs, Black Tiger received the information Qin Nuo deliberately released and pondered, "It's possible. The more absurd the Horror World, the more likely it is."
"Finding the groom, if it doesn't work out..."
Black Tiger glanced downstairs, speaking calmly, "We'll have to use force. The ghost aura from this female ghost shouldn't be at the Horror Level. Together, we should be able to kill her."
"Outside the train, there are no rules. We can use any means necessary, as that old man said!"
The other two hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
The method was risky, but they were more unwilling to face the old couple on the train.
Fortune favors the bold, after all.
They had spent too much time here and needed to leave the house with ghost money.
"Be careful, keep your ghost creatures ready."
With a reminder, the three continued searching upstairs.
Downstairs, Qin Nuo and Fang Ye had no intention of going upstairs, moving around the hall.
The bride in the corner had quieted down, her ghost aura gradually retracting, as if she were asleep, but the cat in her arms kept staring at Qin Nuo.
Fang Ye couldn't help but comment, "That cat seems to like you?"
Qin Nuo calmly replied, "It's not that it likes me."
"That black cat is the bride's eyes, she's watching me."
"You're giving me chills," Fang Ye muttered, heading into the kitchen.
Upstairs, Black Tiger and his group had also spread out.
Black Tiger entered a dressing room, where many clothes hung on the racks, all filthy.
He casually flipped through them, intending to leave, but something caught his eye, and he went back to search.
In a hidden compartment, he found sticky hair.
His face lit up with joy, "Found it!"
He wasn't afraid, reaching in and pulling it out forcefully.
He pulled out a head!
The head was bloody and unrecognizable.
Black Tiger frowned, placing the head aside and continuing to search, but he didn't find what he was looking for.
"Just a head, no body?"
"Where's the body?"
Black Tiger's face was grim as he carried the head out of the room.
Outside, the other two heard the commotion and returned, "What did you find?"
"Found this."
Black Tiger held the bloody head up to their faces.
A bloody face thrust in front of them startled both, one even fell to the ground.
"Are you a newbie player? Still scared by this?" Black Tiger sneered.
"When something like that suddenly appears in front of you, who wouldn't be scared?" The person stood up.
"Enough talk, find the body. It should be on the second floor."
"Or it could be dismembered and hidden in various places," another suggested.
"Something feels off."
The female player frowned, "If the husband killed the wife, did the husband commit suicide?"
"Can you cut off your own head?"
Black Tiger looked at the bloody head, saying, "How do you know this is the groom's head?"
"The bride's dressed so provocatively, she looks like a slut. Maybe she invited another man into the house for an affair while her husband was away?" Black Tiger sneered.
The female player frowned deeper, her eyes showing a hint of disgust. As a woman, she naturally felt uncomfortable hearing that.
"Keep searching, we have less than half an hour left. Speed up, if nothing in ten minutes, we'll go with plan B!"
Black Tiger checked the time and decisively instructed.
The two nodded and moved on.
The man with the parted hair stepped on the cracked floorboards, entering a storage room. The dim room made him uneasy, and he gripped an axe tightly.
"Without a head, it shouldn't move. Nothing to be afraid of, it's just a game."
He reassured himself, moving around the storage room.
As he moved between the shelves, perhaps due to nerves, he accidentally knocked something over, causing a small shelf to collapse, scattering items everywhere.
He didn't intend to care, but his eyes caught something, and he stopped.
Under the shelf, a hand was visible.
A stiff, swollen, purple hand...
"A headless body?"
