A reoccurring nightmare afflicted Khan’s nights since the Second Impact. His dreams replayed the scenes of the crash of the Nak’s spaceship, an alien race that the humans had defeated five hundred years ago.

Khan’s life had turned upside-down after the tragedy. His mother had died during the incident, and the Nak’s toxic mana had infected him. His father had managed to save him, but they ended up losing their home and name in the process.

The nightmares wouldn’t let Khan forget about the Nak, so he set his mind to join the Global Army and learn to wield mana. He had to put an end to those dreams, even if that meant hunting down that alien race through the stars. Collapse

Picking this back up (left around chapter 700 so been a long time) because I've ran out of other novels to read. Just hope Khan's almost forced hatred of humanity and subsequent love and acceptance of all flaws for any alien species isn't as grating and annoying as I remember it to be. Nothing wrong with humans being the bad guys, but nothing I've seen so far justifies the blanket disdain and hate he seems to have had towards humans was always crazy to me since he's had many positive encounters with humans and just mostly ignores those and focuses on the bad. Plus he 100% ignores flaws or schemes by the aliens and focuses on the good.

    Heres my theory.
Author is eveofchaos, right. So to connect the dots, eveofchaos and adamoforder make babies, name one 'em Kain(Khain?) -which then turns out to be heir to chaos by killing his brother Abel. Following that framework; Chaos' Heir seems to align decently well. Coincidence?
As for second, I realized just today where we identify ourselves with the MC best, its the nightmares and the effects it has on him. Nightmare or daymare, its the same mare. ..

Is she still a central part of the story? I dropped at 400 or so because of her, if she gets less book space later on I might continue.

Hahaha that’s actually fantastic news! I dropped/paused at 850 something and don’t really know should I continue or not.

The novel feels extremely unrealistic (character behavior and worldbuilding), and the more Khan changes into some amalgamation the more unrealistic everything feels.

This was my #1 novel for 2 whole years, it was super relatable, especially his relationship with Liz. Even made me cry, cuz their breakup felt the same as mine at the time. But when he became the noble heir/house head the novel turned to shit.

So is it worth reading further on? Breakup with Monica is a big plus, but are there any more reasons?

Oh boy you are in for a surprise. I won't spoil it further but i think the novel is entering it's final arc and it's really good. The plot just goes up after the break up. Monica was never going to work out with khan because she is too conservative while khan needs to be free, just read it!

Nah, you should definitely read the start of the novel 400-500 chaps are really high quality. Mc is a cool guy, only his latest girlfriend (she comes far later on) is annoying.

The biggest problem of this novel is that it is going for too long. I’m talking about the time it took to write all the chaps. The story as a whole is actually extremely short: 5-6 years of MC’s life or something, but it took the author more than 3 years to write 800 chaps.
So all this time the genre and the whole vibe has been changing a couple of times and of course this all brings a lot of confusion to the readers.
So what do we have in the end: an author that can write emotional characters pretty well but on the other hand struggles with consistent storytelling cuz he gets “under the weather” from time to time and that affects the mood of his writing.

Far too much focus on romance. Somethings can be integral to a character's growth without shoe-horning it in every single chapter. Every single area he travels to, there's some forced romance - it is honestly the worst thing.

MC has girls falling over for him everywhere he goes in such a stupid way that can only be described as the Author acting as a self-insert for one of the most unrealistic premises on romance.

The militaristic aspect is good, the writing is good, even the romance was bearable at first.

Ultimately, a good read, but after a while you'll find yourself skimming through chapters at a time of tasteless romance.

It is an annoying rollercoaster of emotions and battle it is not for everyone it has many conflicting genres that do not mix very well with each other when it has such a split focus.

If you are here for just romance just battle or just exploration you will get frustrated.

He details a LOT OF ALL THESE THEMES.
