Chapter 941: Tier 5 Talismans - Mine of Merit Points

After resting for a bit, Max took out the stack of Low-Grade Tier 5 Talisman Paper, and the Talisman Ink—he was about to start trying to create Tier 5 Thunder Talismans.

Most people would first ensure they were in their best condition, but he didn’t bother taking one of the Spirit Replenishment Pills to recover his mental energy because he wanted to see how effective these ’Good’ pills were.

In case they were really effective, wouldn’t it be a waste if he only recovered 70% of his mental energy instead of 100%?

For the next two hours, he tried to prepare the talisman paper and failed again and again, but with each try, he came closer to succeeding.

’I will succeed next time.’ he thought after the tenth talisman paper snapped in his hands.

Phew!

Exhaling deeply, he rubbed his temples—he had almost completely exhausted his remaining mental energy.

Therefore, he took out a medicinal bottle which contained the two Low-Grade, Tier 5 Spirit Replenishment Pills.

Taking out one of them, he first took a good look at it—it was identical to the ones he had bought from the Trade Mountain. The only difference was, these seemed heavier and a bit more vibrant. Also, they didn’t have as powerful medicinal aroma.

This made the corner of his lips twitch.

That powerful aroma was the reason many newbies like him were tricked into thinking that they had bought the real Tier 5 pills.

"Let’s see how effective a real one is." he muttered and threw the pill into his mouth, then gulped it down, closed his eyes and began meditating.

Slowly the medicinal energy spread out from the pill and he began recovering mental or commonly called Spirit Energy.

Twenty minutes later, Max became pleasantly surprised because he had completely recovered his Spirit Energy and the medicinal energy was still not exhausted.

Ten minutes later, the last bit of the medicinal energy dispersed and he opened his eyes that shone with a bright light.

This pill not only put his worries about needing the higher grade pills to recover the Spirit Energy to rest, his total Spirit Energy seemed to have increased by a bit too which was another pleasant surprise.

"Now... Let’s make the Tier 5 Talismans." he clapped his hands in high spirits, picked up the eleventh talisman paper and began preparing it.

Just as he had thought earlier, he succeeded in preparing it this time.

He then proceeded to the next step—infusing the Thunder Energy from the Thunder Energy Traces in his bloodline.

When he was done, he began inscribing the outline of the talisman, then very carefully, he began inscribing the Thunder Rune at the center.

Because he had inscribed its outline in the Tier 4 talisman to forcefully elevate them from Mid-Grade to High-Grade, he had thought he wouldn’t have too much of a hard time inscribing the complete rune.

But oh wrong he was.

By the time he had inscribed merely 30% of the rune, one and half hours had passed and his forehead was covered in sweat, his brows knitted tighter tightly in concentration.

Fortunately, maybe because his control had increased or maybe because this particular rune wasn’t as volatile despite being an offensive rune, he had yet to fail and he didn’t think he would fail either.

The only thing that worried him was the rapid consumption of his Spirit Energy—over 40% of it had already been exhausted.

Time continued ticking by and another two hours passed.

Buzzttt!

Suddenly, the talisman lit up and electric arcs roared around it.

"I..." Max looked at it, his eyes shining brightly despite his exhaustion, "...Did it."

...

After a few moments, the talisman stopped shining and the electrical arcs vanished into it, revealing the palm sized, light blue talisman with a distinct lighting bolt etched onto it.

Max stared at it for a while, feeling proud for having created a Tier 5 Talisman on the first day he tried it.

Then, he took a deep breath, settled his emotions and stowed it away before gauzing his Spirit Energy.

Eighty percent. This was the amount he was exhausted and this made him frown.

"The Low-Grade Spirit Replenishment Pill cost Merit Points. Given how much Spirit Energy I used up, and adding in the cost of talisman paper, ink and the thunder energy, this talisman should be sold for at least 200 Merit Points for me to make some profit." he muttered, his frown deepening.

200 Merit Points meant 2000 High Grade Mana Stones. He didn’t think a Low-Grade Elemental Talisman could be sold for such a high price.

Back in the Resource Hall, he had noticed the price of a non-elemental Low-Grade Tier 5 Talisman was...

"70 Merit Points." he muttered, "Maybe it could really go for 200 after all."

He picked up his Identity Badge, wanting to ask Ryuna about its price, but after hesitating for a moment, he sighed and decided against contacting her.

Though he had explained the situation of his Charm to her, her expression didn’t look good when they had parted ways.

A moment later, he thought of something and picked up the identity badge and sent Dan a message.

It turned out, Dan knew of the prices. When he told him how much a Low-Grade Tier 5 Elemental Talisman, especially the Thunder Talisman which was among the stronger and rarer kind, cost, he clicked his tongue.

"No wonder Talisman Making is one of the most lucrative professions." he muttered.

-Non-Elemental Low-Grade Tier 5 talismans were sold for 50-70 Merit Points.

-Low-Grade Tier 5 Elemental Talismans were sold for 200-350 Merit Points.

-Mid-Grade Tier 5 Elemental Talismans were sold for 700-1000 and sometimes up to 1100 Merit Points.

-High-Grade Tier 5 Elemental ones were sold for 5000+ Merit Points.

-The most expensive ones in Tier 5, Top Grade Elemental Talisman, the cheapest would go for at least 10,000 Merit Points.

He looked at the remaining nine talisman papers with his eyes shining.

Then, he looked at his cracked Mana Core and muttered, "If I work harder, maybe I could really join Elder Blood Flower’s mission in a few days."
