Jiang Chen thought dying from overwork in his past life was the end. Instead, he woke up in the Cloud Sea Sect, an outer disciple facing imminent expulsion for failing his farming assessments.

His only asset: a near-worthless Wood Spiritual Root and a single plot of depleted land.

But fate, or perhaps the universe, had a sense of dark humor.

[Ding! Harvesting 1 Spirit Rice. Lifespan +1 Day.]

With the Harvest System, every successful crop extends his life, and that accumulated Lifespan can be spent to instantly upgrade his cultivation arts.

Why spend decades meditating when he can farm his way to mastery?

Facing bullies like Wang Hu and navigating the sect’s treacherous inner politics, Jiang Chen makes his choice: Go Low, Go Slow, and Never Stop Growing.

He’ll use his past life’s cunning business sense to exploit every loophole, monopolize resources, and quietly build his fortune.

Others might chase power, but Jiang Chen will meticulously farm his way to the pinnacle, one Mutated Spirit Rice grain at a time.

His goal is not just Foundation Establishment; it is to outlive the gods. Collapse

At the point of chapter 490 I can say that I went from really liking it, to being very conflicted.
I don't like nor understand half the decision made. Sometimes he acts "lowkey", but in such a stupid way that only hurts him and his development(but it is of course always compensated by the author), other times hes acting all high and brazen at points where he should be being lowkey.
At some point he is being paranoid about showing even a third of his capabilities, at other points he just says f#ck it we ball against cultivators 1-2 major stages over him.

There is no consistency in his behaviour at all. When the author wills it, he will literally become an entirely different person.

    What truly made me quit

Imo it gradually went from a very solid novel at ch. 100, to a disappointment at ch. 490.

Yea...seems that gemini is a better translator than the group that's doing this. Names are different too. I only wish it was easier to keep track of which chapter i'm on for mtl without writing it down somewhere...

No I mean...the chaps aren't jumbled. Like if you stop at for example..at chapter 150 of the ranobes official, I can just start from the same chapter 150 of MTL. Only problems would be the names...thats just a minor issue.

I have read every chapter, all 474 of them and can confidently recommend this novel welldone

Don’t care about the low ratings, I believe it’s either botted or 28% of people didn’t actually read it.

The story is fun, the mc is smart and likable, the side characters have personalities and their own stories, the power progression is satisfying. Its just really good.

It won’t make you lose your mind like LOTM or something, but it’s an incredible work. I enjoyed every chapter, so please give it a try satisfied

A guy was talking about how MC behavior changes many times, hiding his power to showing full capability and weird thing about rising daughter. Can you tell me what that is about?

At one point the mc’s Spirit Roots are out of balance and it makes him more reckless than normal, thats probably what they meant. Its not relevant for more than 15 chapter though so I didnt mind it.

He does hide his actual power, but thats kinda standard and expected, not sure how thats a bad thing. He never shows everything.

The adopted daughter thing I do agree with. She only appears in like chapter 460 thankfully. Its very random and he is a terrible parent. It might make me drop the novel, but it was a great read whoknows

Daoist Inkdrunkwandere's Review of The Eternal Farmer: I Trade My Harvest for Immortality

Before I begin, I genuinely don't understand why this novel is rated so poorly. Maybe it's because we've become so accustomed to protagonists who exist solely to aura-farm every room they walk into that we've forgotten quieter stories can be just as enjoyable.

Not every cultivation novel needs an MC who humiliates young masters every other chapter, speedruns five realms in a week, or has the entire cultivation world revolving around them. Sometimes it's okay for a protagonist to simply... live. Build. Farm. Grow stronger steadily.

And honestly? That's refreshing. This isn't trying to become the next Reverend Insanity or Lord of the Mysteries. It's a laid-back cultivation novel that knows exactly what it wants to be.

If you're looking for constant life-and-death battles and endless face-slapping, this probably isn't for you.

But if you want something to read after finishing an emotionally exhausting masterpiece..a novel that lets you relax without turning your brain off...this is surprisingly enjoyable.

The pacing is slow but comfortable. The protagonist is cautious without becoming paranoid, intelligent without feeling omniscient, and actually uses his advantages sensibly instead of abusing them to dominate everyone around him. He spends his time gathering resources, improving himself, expanding his foundation, and quietly climbing the cultivation world.

Another thing I appreciated is the lack of unnecessary drama. People aren't lining up every chapter to kill the protagonist. He isn't constantly offending impossible enemies because of forced plot progression. Problems exist, but they arise naturally rather than because the author desperately needs another tournament or revenge arc. old

The world itself also has more going on than simple cultivation. Farming, business, politics, resource management, and the gradual emergence of larger forces all help keep the story interesting. It isn't groundbreaking, but it's coherent.

Around the later chapters (roughly 500+), the pacing slows noticeably and the focus shifts more toward politics and family affairs. Whether that's a positive or negative depends entirely on what you're looking for. Personally, I found the earlier resource-management and cultivation sections more engaging.

Overall, I'd describe this as a palate cleanser. meme_10

Not every meal needs to be a five-star banquet. Sometimes a warm bowl of noodles is exactly what you needed.

A solid recommendation if you're looking for a low-tension, slice-of-life xianxia with steady progression rather than endless spectacle.

Ps. I would recommend you guys read from our MTL, sadly the only problem I have found is some chaps are missing while MTL has full chaps and is easy to understand.

The greatest mistake veteran readers make is believing every cup of tea must taste like immortal wine. Sometimes, a simple brew is enough to remind you why you started drinking tea in the first place.

I read the mtl like you said but main character's name is different in it. It's Xu Changqing not Jiang Chen like in synonyms. And even the chapters 2 of both are different. So I checked the raw chapters and it seems the mtl one is the correct one. Geez the translate team for this one is real bad. Even changing the mc's name and skipping tons of dialogue.

The description touched on the topic of monopoly, and I found it interesting, a new perspective on the endless life in the world of cultivators. Maybe the hero will only level up through years of intrigue, created organizations, artificial monopolies, and the seizure of all the world's resources?
After reading the first few chapters, it became clear that this is a typical story with a lifespan cheat, or rather, even worse than average. I don't think there will be anything unique or well-written here.
Suitable for those who want a slap in the face, a standard scenario of cultivation in a sect of brainless evil cultivators and all that stuff, while you have no requirements for logic and quality
