The person whom the world revolves around.

The person who defeats all of his opponents, and ultimately gets the beautiful girl.

The sole existence all villains fear.

That is the protagonist.

What about me?

As a failed author who had only one success throughout his whole career, I had reincarnated into my late novel.

«This is it»

I thought, as I tightly clenched my fist.

Did I just get reincarnated in my own novel?

Is this where I reincarnate in a novel and become the protagonist?

No.

Sadly it’s not that kind of novel, as I reincarnated as a mob.

The world doesn’t revolve around me.

The girls don’t come flocking towards me.

The cheat items don’t come to me.

«Phew»

I let out a sigh of relief.

«Thank god I’m not the protagonist»

I joyfully shouted as tears streamed down my cheeks.

Wait, are you curious as to why I don’t want to be the protagonist?

I did forget to mention the most important thing when I was describing a protagonist.

That is…

They are calamity magnets.

I just died. If I learned something from that, it’s that it really isn’t a pleasant experience.

If possible let me live a long stable life.

Thank you, whoever reincarnated me.

I would later come to regret these words…

Reader Disclaimer:

There are two MCs in this story.
1. The original MC of the novel
2. The author that transmigrates in the novel
In the beginning, the author plays the role of an extra with no ambition other than quietly waiting for the story to end. He is almost like a babysitter that watches over the plotline, however, this will only be in the first 40 chapters or so as he will soon be dragged into the plotline regardless of how much he doesn’t want to.

The MC may come off as someone that has no ambition in the beginning but as the story progresses it will change

Also, there may be a bit of info-dumping at the beginning of the novel (at least the first 30 chapters), but there shouldn’t be anymore in the following chapters. Well…being a new author I may end up doing it again. If I do so please do criticize me and scold me. If you don’t scold me how am I supposed to improve the story? What’s great about writing web novels is that I actually can hear your advice and opinions. You are just as much invested in this story as I am, so please help me out.

Well…I would appreciate it if you don’t leave a one star…not that I can stop you

Also, yes, the novel is inspired by TNE (The novel’s extra) you may see a lot of similarities in the beginning, but for future chapters the differences will start to become more apparent. I hope you manage to stick through it. Also, don’t come reading this expecting it to be another TNE. In fact don’t compare the two. If you do, the flaws of this book will become more apparent as you read ruining the whole experience Collapse

Here's my bet. MC will only ever suffer a loss if it relates to the main villain of the current and so far plot--

He'll cut through the rest-- by cut I meant mow through them.

Btw, I saw people argue about the power system (A-, A, A+).
Let's just say solo-leveling, and Dragon ball are the perfect presentation why number system works best if story is short.

No specifications is the best card Author wanna play early. Less he's confident with his concept to still go for the distance while being otherwise.

Yeah the thing is solo leveling is a manhua and dragon ball an anime even without specifying they can describe it easily meanwhile the author pov is just a webnovel it is harder to imagine (or describe) what happening with words. let take attack on Titan for example, the words ' the giant titan suddenly appeared out of nowhere and destroyed the wall.' or a full animation would describe better what actually happened there or even a picture?
I am not saying webnovel are bad becuase they are only words but it is easier to imagine like one character has 1(G- I guess ) unit of power and second has 5(F-) unit of power and last op guy has 100(C+)unit of power.we know that first is the weakest but if it described like the first guy can crush a pebble the second guy can crush a house and the last guy can destory the whole village it be easier to imagine and get interested and keep reading it.

What? What is this guy on about?
First of all, Solo-Leveling started out as Webnovel, you can literally look it up.

Second, it's not about "Ow. They have pictures to describe the increase in power. So it's easy to drop it."-- No! the point is... 'They drop the number system.' That's it.

When it comes to "webnovel is harder to imagine", It's like saying, "Just draw stick figures and expect success in the industry". Both are ridiculous. If webnovel is hard to imagine, It's either the Author's fault or your lack of imagination.

Be it movies, manhwa, manga, comics, novels. It doesn't matter what the instruments are. The fact of the matter is, You CANNOT use numbers in a direct manner for a long story. Like you said the crush-crushing things are better. Yeah, because it's not specific but we get point, "He's stronger".

Let's just get this over with yea. If you find a story with a 'solid' number system. Just send it my way. No matter how good it is, if it goes too long it'll become too much.

The best one I've seen was... It started with numbers, then move to %, then move to tiers while keeping the %.

And None, literally NONE has ever kept the number solely all the way till the end without getting ugly. Please prove that I'm wrong. (make sure it's a long story tho)

The first 40/50's are a pain to read, the author dumped information to the turtle and right whenever he gets the chance, the dialogues are almost non-existent with so much information, of course this was done to help grow the world and the author was "newbie " when you made the chapter, but damn, did it cost a little less? There was also the problem of the author repeating (still repeats) sentences many times, it was a pain to continue reading.

The author (character) is very contradictory, he says he's going to stay low and then he basically does something that makes everyone keep an eye on him, it's frustrating. That skill he gets too, could he use for so many things, like deleting useless thoughts and just focusing on training with all the efficiency to get better faster than he does? Only use it when necessary..... WTF, ok in a safe place I wouldn't choose to use a lot of the skill that may or may not make you a little crazy (the description never mentioned the possibility of going crazy so I say that what others think it's bullshit) but in a world where you don't know when you're going to die does he do it? Okay, he says he doesn't want to depend on skill so why don't he stop depending on sword art too? because if he loses his sword he's f#cked, why don't he stop depending on his feet too? because if he loses one he f#cks himself..... ok, i overreacted, but f#ck, i don't care anymore.

The comments were saying that the writing improves later, so I persevered. But in the end I dropped it.... I can't take it anymore, the characters in the original story are so damn irritating, Kevin I even put up with a little bit but the rest was all rubbish, when perspectives changed I already started praying to end in the same chapter I've seen worse stories *shudders* but this story just isn't for me. It was the same as a comment I saw, after reading so many good things I turned into a curmudgeon who complains about everything.

Edit: Dude... I was reading a novel very similar to this one, the author also goes into his own novel and has a totally equal event, seriously, totally. It's the cooking club event (I forget the name) the author enters it and has one of the main characters there, the club president has a contract with a demon from the charm clan, the contract makes him look better and more talented . Imagine the surprise when I'm reading the other novel and basically the same thing happens, the author goes to a club that has one of the main characters, and the club leader is a digin (seka there what that means) he makes a contract with the charm demon and has his eye on the main character. Full copy, I just don't know who copied who, the novel is from 2 years ago and it's on the webnovel site, the name is the novel's extra, and the copy happens in chapter 10.

Wait, why would he use the skill to train? I don't get this.
I saw a couple of people say this, but wasn't it mentioned that the skill uses mana?
Wouldn't that pretty much result in the training time being cut considerably as his stamina would deplete at a much faster pace?
Furthermore, it was never mentioned that the MC struggled with training.
Like, I'm pretty sure he's growing at a faster pace compared to all other characters.
Why in the world would he use monarch indifference to train?
Also, MC doesn't want to use Monarch indifference too often because of its drawbacks.

Just ignore my comment, I wrote after I had a lot of frustration so I didn't give the story the credit, I just got tired of seeing the Mc (author) make some dubious choices and read a lot of the same sentences, and author explaining things readers already understood. The story was short on action as a comment below said so that must be why I didn't like it so much.

Rewrite the first half with less info dump. Rewrite the mc's 1st dungeon experience to be less cringy. Rewrite how the mc lets the other female main caste walk over him in the early chaps. Have the book start with the mc during his transmigration. Interact with the family sooner. Finally, edit out Everblood (perhaps make a side character that the MC has no clue about being his personal antagonist, thus, blindsiding the mc) then it's a solid 5/5. Everything else mostly works/is fine. Currently a 3-3.5/5 for me because of those reasons.

Tell me you liked it when he got the book editing power from a random package. Tell me you liked it when the mc went full revenge mode in the dungeon for people he had 3 sentence's of dialogue with. the only thing I can agree with you is the less info dump and rewriting the 1st dungeon experience less cringy as for the other it doesn't make sense why would the author need to rewrite the main female caste walking over him at that time it made sense since at that point in time he was still weak and the Mc wanted to lay low/hidden if he started confronting the main female cast it would definitely defeat his purpose of hiding himself and would attract unnecesary trouble and it serves as good storytelling material in future chapters seeing their reaction to the mc's reveal of his true abilities (which already happened) as for everblood he's actually a well written villain if everblood was just a random side character that the mc had no clue about then that would mean everblood was an insignificant character in the novel the mc wrote and wouldn't even be a threat to the mc so it wouldn't make sense if he was a threat. honestly what this comment tells about you is that you're one of those people that likes braindead overpowered and "perfect" Mcs

You really think he's lowkey? You think confronting those obnoxious bitches would reveal himself to early? Bullshit. The mc himself decided to stop being lowkey. Each of the main caste know he's wildin, and all think he's waaay stronger than he actually is by ch 40ish.

Bro, Everblood has such perfect skills at stealth that the second the mc's parents were cured, he knew. He somehow beat the mc, and the other demon to the hotel to wait in ambush. With that kind of information and speed, Everblood could literally kidnap the mc's parents with zero problems. Or more. He's the definition of a braindead villain.

Let's talk about OP braindead protags. Is someone who knows the entire plot of the world, and can edit it at any time not the definition of OP brain dead protagonist? He knows how each of the main caste are feeling at any time. He knows where every single item he needs to get OP is located. To be fair, maybe he isn't brain dead, but he sure as hell has a lot of plot armor/luck. That entire orc world arc was 100% luck. Everyone was stronger than him, somehow his disguise worked every time, and killing the orc chiefs son was laughably easy. His reliance that Kevin will always win is luck/plot armor. Idk what to tell you chief.

It's not a bad story, I like it a lot at times. The mc does have his badass moments, and some of his training/manipulation is on point. However, fanboys like you are stuck with rose tinted glasses. It's like what the chinese say: when someone likes someone, even if they commit wrong, it's hard to believe it. But if someone you dislike is accused of wrong (even if they're innocent), it's easier to believe.

I think you misread some parts of the novel.
                  1. Everblood never looked for Ren. Everblood was aiming for the demon that was targeting Ren's parents. From what I've read, once the parents were cured, demon got severely injured from backlash. Everblood got information about his injuries and followed him. From the very beginning, Everblood never knew about the curse-breaking thing, he only learned of it after he followed him and listened to Matthew and him speak. Furthermore, he managed to be unnoticed because the other demon was weakened and their strengths were similar.

                  2. Killing the orc chief son was not easy at all. He sacrificed his arm in order to get the demon to ambush the orc bodyguard from behind and kill him. We are talking about a C+ demon. In the meantime, he also set up a dimensional space to block anyone from hearing or seeing things. That is not luck. That is called planning. Most of the orc arc was done through thorough planning. Sure there were elements of luck in the orc arc, but why do people mistakenly assume thorough planning is luck? Sure, things could've gone wrong, but when you revise for an exam, the chances of those things going wrong are minimally reduced. This seems to be a thing people don't seem to get at all. MC never dived into his plans once. He waited days, and scouted the perimeter as well as surrounding before he acted. He also had the red-book in his hand to confirm his plans and everything.

                  3. MC cannot edit the world. It is mentioned that mana is needed to change it, and at the moment he doesn't have enough mana to do so as he is still too weak. Furthermore, I believe a braindead protagonist is one that takes all of the OP items for himself. It's just dumb in so many ways that I don't even need to explain anything.

                  4. MC is 100% low-key (in terms of strength hiding). Maybe not to main-cast, but to enemies he is. At least in the first volume. It doesn't matter if the main-cast thinks MC is stronger than he is, what matters is if enemies think he is weak. Which is exactly what MC wants, and is what happens throughout the novel.

....So, Everblood mindlessly stalked this guy who put a curse on the mc's parents. Why? I'll chalk that up to Everblood's obsession. I'm kind of curious how Everblood followed the demon tbh. Did he like, have spies or a spying device? And if he had that, did he just like, teleport to the same location? Anyway. The demoness who contracted with the MC explicitly said that it was very easy to stealthily enter the humans territory. Hell, in that same chapter 189, Everblood teleports into a human city undetected. With that kind of skill, again, why isn't he stepping up on the mc's parents or the mc whenever the mc is in town? To me, Everblood is like that xianxia trope where "you killed my projection slightly setting me back, I'll chase you to the ends of the world!!!" To you, what makes Everblood a good character?

Ch 173-174 An explosion causes a distraction. During this time, the mc assaults a C+ warrior with his E+ strength plus OP cultivation manual. He even manages to get in a good attack somehow. Despite numerous times, we've been shown how even just one grade difference is night and day. MC jumps 2 grades in damage. This guard "only" takes an arm with his big ass axe, and stops to talk after being injured. What orc stops to talk? Even the MC mentions how absurd this is. The orcs in this story have been depicted to be generic bloodthristy fantasy orcs. And this one orc is just kinda standing there? Based on the stories own canon, it should shout and then charge again. On the mc's part, it was good planning to have his demoness go for the assassination. This was his hidden trump card, but also part of why he is OP. His entire aquisition of her is another topic of plot armor/luck, but I'll leave it well enough alone. I can get that the orc chieftan was proud and only had one guard. But wouldn't the sons house be close to the chiefs? Shouldn't there be guards there? Hell, one of the first things the chief would do, considering we've seen how much he loves his son, is send a guard detachment there immediately. But it was 2/3rds luck, and OP protagonist halo that saw the mc succeed.

I DO like some of his plots and planning. Smallsnake, recruiting that one genius kid, his interactions with Kevin. They're all great. He MOSTLY does a good job. BUT he has a lot of plot armor and luck. Not to mention, everyone kind of goes along with his manipulations. That Orc Commander was a proud intelligent, powerful General, he got told to his face to become the mc's piece. Idk, I'm proud myself, I might just snap the mc's neck right there. But revenge trumps pride for some people, so i get it. Hell, the fact that the veteran captain he recruited didn't attempt to gut the mc the second he saw that he was contracted to the demoness is a miracle of plot armor. Maybe I'm remembering incorectly, but didn't the mc say that the method for a human to enslave a demon wasn't something that was revealed in the book till a later chapter? At that point in time, it's known to the people at large, that only demons can enslave contractors, and that all contractors are to be killed. Maybe I have to go back and reread the recruitment, but that's something that comes off as sussy to me.

The book. Why did he get the book, and if he had to get it, why through a package by his parents? Do his parents know something? Doesn't look like it based on how incompetent they are. With the book, he can see all future events related to the main caste. Sure, he doesn't have enough mana to alter to much, but the fact that he has foresight by definition makes him OP. And like I said, he has knowledge of EVERYTHING in this story. From where it is, to events, to how people will act. He can even edit the main casts thoughts/feelings if he wanted to. This isn't knowledge earned, it's innate knowledge, much less impressive from an MC struggling to learn. This makes him one of the most OP characters in the story. Is it impressive if you get an A on the test when you have the answer key?

I will give him props for his martial training. He really puts in the effort, and sweats for it. He deserves praise for that.

Your point about how he is lowkey IS valid. HOWEVER, it is true that he decides relatively early on to STOP being low key. He got exceptionally lucky that the female cast's parents decided not to investigate him/end him in retrospect. If you bothered to read my past post, my only complaint was that I was dissatisfied with how the female cast treated the mc, and that he took it like a bitch. Somehow, that made the other commentator believe that I wanted the entire female cast written out of the story, LMAO. It's a me thing. I read fiction to escape from reality, and when I see a man who knows these characters inside and out taking it like a bitch? And when he does respond, he's being entirely childish and not mature about it? It gets me fiery.

Anyway, what do you think about my 1st/second comment? Do you really like how the dungeon was handled? He moved off of gut feelings, had a baby rage moment calling out for revenge, it was the mc's call to action that this world was real, and that he would eventually kill people. This could've been handled so much better. He then got into conflict with Everblood in a generic xianxia clash. By generic xianxia clash I mean that Everblood's projection got bested by the mc while trying to promote, and this snowballed into a waaay stronger character going to the ends of the earth to kill the mc. It's one of the most classic xianxia tropes, one I've grown tired of.

So I think that there's some VERY rough edges, strong plot armor, and some pretty cringe moments in this story. But, there's cool moments, and good plays on the mc's part as well. Which is why I stand by my 3-3.5/5 judgement. It's a solid C+, something worth reading, but far from the masterpiece the superfans are raving about.

Anyway, enough ranting and raving from my end. Perhaps I got was wrong in my assertions, but this is how I see the story. Peace be with you fellow daoist.

Dude. Have mercy on me. You made me pretty much read a whole chapter. (btw I never disagreed with your comments I just shared what I thought was different)
One thing I'd like to point out. (About the orc situation)
I think the orc started talking because he realized his opponent was weak. Like B rank vs E rank. You wouldn't take them seriously. He let his guard down because of this.
Also, the explosion is Kevin's destruction of the warehouse, which Ren double checks with the book. Furthermore, the only reason he was able to injure the orc slightly was because he used the statue artifact and third movement where he just teleported.
However, I don't think he suffered any major injuries from that clash apart from a small one. I think MC goal the whole time was to get his arm cut off, and because he just suddenly appeared before the orc, the orc was only able to cut one arm.
Also, from the banquet chapter, we can infer that S ranks senses are not that strong as Donna was only able to detect fluctuations slightly inside of a mansion. So even if chief and son were close, high chance they wouldn't be able to detect anything.
Also, for veteran captain, I just think money did it for him. Most likely Ren knew his personality hence why he had no problem revealing it? I'm not sure.
Also, I think the book has something to do with the person that sent him to the world which will probably touched upon later in the story. (also, I don't think he can edit other's thoughts, he is still too weak)
Also, about female cast, that mostly happens in the beginning, and if we look at it from his perspective it makes sense. Like, wasn't he a shut in for ten years with no social interactions in the beginning? Kinda get his awkardness.
Also, I'm sure everblood has subordinates since he is a baron, and we also don't know whether he teleported in human domain or was in the human domain. He could've been staying in the Monolith, which is the equivalent of the union for demons and villains. (I'm also sure Everblood isn't targeting Ren's parents yet since he has something big planned for later or because of hte previos demon influence/ not that it matters now since they should be safe now)

I do kinda of get where you are coming from there are so many things not classified like how strong is ren(I mean how he can fight against others in a standoff where he can not sneak attack and he is enemy only focus on him, how much higher rank can he defeat by himself like that ?) even now we do not know skill of set of Amanda and Emma, how are skills made(we know that they come from dungeons of the demon world but if other races did not have skills until the demons raided them so how did they survive and if they have them now how are demons not getting utterly defeated now because a skill like the one or another similar skill be in the hand of race leader (SSS rank) they should be able to immoblize demon princes and princesses believing the demon king should have atleast some kind of protection from it otherwise ren is being extremely cheap by not handing it to them, out of the three race leader one should be a guy who repay his debt and would help ren and not backstab him and we even now do not know how much of a power difference there exist between each major rank(A,B,C,etc) and minor ranks(A-,A,A+) how much more powerful does one get by each rank and so on, from an action story pov,the story is pretty bad but it not only a action story, it focus on relationship like TNE (the story this story is inspired by ). Also in the start of the story the goverment would have been suspicious of him if he does that stock stuff but I did not get to see his childhood friend who betrayed him to get revenge on his father ever getting questioned for reason like why was he the target and there are many more plothole(some of these plothole were probably explained but I just forgot).

Not really confusing. Do it like me.
just look at this in a cultivation perspective it’s not that hard to understand
Just treat ranks as cultivation realms and sub ranks as realm upgrades (like nascent soul low, medium, high)
If u look at it this way, everything seems normal
Btw, I think skills can only be used by humans
Also, stock thing was explained (Smallsnake)
I also believe Matthew did indeed get questioned

Yeah I do that but most cultivation have another for strength like 1st rank of cultivation has max Power of 10 units and 2nd rank has 100 units of power so they got 10 time stronger. It is easier to imagine it this way,so we can see the development that occurs much easily.

For the stock thing I was saying they were ready to check who betted against the 1st company and betted on the 2nd company but did not question the guy who got attacked by a marquis rank demon for some unknown reason if he did got questioned then I probably just forgot lol

Just noting for monarchs indifference Ren has stated that when he uses it he feels like he isn’t the one controlling his body and something else is, so pretty much that’s another reason ren doesn’t use it always.

This novel is one of the newest on this site. (2-3 months I think?)
This is a lot less compared to some others that have been here for way longer. It is only natural that its rank is not high relative to the others.
Otherwise, it's ranked 1 in the newest books for the past 3 months.
