The author is too sentimental at the end. I expected tragedy and carnage, ehhh.

    World plot is good.
But thats it. everything else is garbage.
Immature and shallow feelings and emotions. Weird, cringy and cliche encounters, twists and conversations.
Writing and pace itself is worst. Uneccessary suspense. We read in MC's pov but his knowledge is never revealed which only dampens the impact cause reader already has guessed thound reason by the time its revealed and one of them (Almost always the most cliche one) being the right guess.

Theres no real character development. There are no real characters that can be rememebred. Theres only one formula. Skilled and future prospect charatcers are females. Doubts Mc > Respects Mc > Loves Mc. Rinse repeat.

[edit] Can we have translation "A villains's Will to Survive" instead of this? Reading this translation makes my brain cells deteriorate.

The rinse and repeat part is very dumb.
😂😂😂Only 5 female characters love him with him only loving 2 and that is all, there's no formula. And saying there's no character development is also equally dumb given everyone underwent immense character growth. And cringe? Is everything cringe these days? Dude, look at the title. He's a villain albeit having reasons for doing so. What was cringe?🤣🤣 Nah, you're just hating because this makes no sense.

Probably translators fault but shit is incoherent. Why read something when half of the content of chapters is incomprehensible ramblings? Dropped at 13

The translation quality is inconsistent. Most chapters it’s good, or at least decent. Sometimes they f#ck up the grammar or typesetting. And then the translation group disbanded right before it ended, and whoever continued the story used MTL for the epilogue chapters. The other translation is on webnovel and is more refined but I’ve noticed they cut a lot of descriptive content and do their own minor scene /dialogue editing to make things more concise, so I still prefer this one personally.

That aside, it’s a fantastic story. So many little details and foreshadowing that the author keeps in mind. Highly recommended.

For those who know I've realized late that this is the same Author that create The Novel Extra. All I can say that I think the authors creativity in creating the world, the power system has been quite a huge upgrade. This novel is not for the faintness of heart; reading this novel might inspire me to create thesist about 100 stages of grief trough the magical world. All in all I found myself satishfied to read this novel until the end of the chapters. (Would I read it again, HELL NO; This Story is good and quiteeee depressin at the same time)

My (long) review for the novel The Villain Wants to Live after reading until its final chapter 361. Read this review to help you decide if you want to read this novel.

Contrary to the other kr novels with similar setting (transported to a game, kill the final boss with absolute strength), the plot of The Villain Wants to Live is actually just the mc that wanted to reach the endgame plot of the game, hoping for an answer, while cherishing those people close to him. The MC, Deculein, doesn't seek to be the strongest wizard, or the hero that will be venerated for all eternity. He just wanted to do what he feels right, without any regrets.

Definitely not for first time reader, and also not for beginners (novels read < 10) as you wouldn't appreciate author's attention to details without the proper reading experience to match it. I suggest to marinate this one in your reading list if you are new to reading novels.

    PROS/CONS

(+) World Building: One of the best that i've ever seen. Its not that crazy in terms of scale and variations, but the attention to detail was really what made this novel together. I would like to say that there was imperfections in world building, but I could also say that it was only because of my preference. World building of this novel fitted perfectly to the other components of the novel, simply making me greedy for more. The details are scrumptious as you were introduced to the events of the novel.

(+) Plot: I would say its unique and crazy good. Its definitely not perfect (I would say it was too fast of a plot progression and story transition should be longer than it originally was. The last 50 chapters or so of the novel felt a bit convoluted because of it) but I think it was a success as the author still managed to bring it altogether. Plot introduced harem, but it was really not forced as their interactions to the MC were developed rigorously before discovering their feelings for him. All characters in the story are 3d and had their own progressions. Also, I think tragedy and psychological should also be in the genre tags for this novel..

(+) Main Character: The MC, Deculein (kim woo-jin), was a really well-though character. The combination of their traits and personalities created the foundation of this masterpiece. The outlook of the mc in every situation made me really joyful as a reader. Its gratifying to read and understand the author's intention for the novel in the form of Deculein. FMCs were also written in high standards that made the story rich because of the interactions between the main characters.

(-) Side characters: Each character have their own stories, motivations, and goals in life. Its not hard to immerse in reading because the characters have enough depth to resonate with the reader's emotions.

    TL;DR
The Villain Wants to Live was really a masterpiece, a gem that can distinguish itself from others. Excellent world building, plot, and characters. Wished that the storyline transitions were longer though. Definitely recommended for readers with moderate experience with reading, 4.8/5
