Jiang Chengxuan accidentally transmigrated to the immortal cultivation world and accidentally obtained the immortal cultivation heritage.

However, his qualifications were really low, and after a hundred years of hard work, he was still unable to advance to the Foundation Establishment Realm.

Just when he was discouraged, he came to a mortal city in silence, ready to end his life. That was when he got the long-awaited cheats.

Detected that the host has achieved 100 years of immortal cultivation, hereby granting a life extension fruit, which can increase the life expectancy by one year.

The next achievement task was now issued.

Please complete the quest a hundred times. Complete it to achieve the honor of completing the quest a hundred times and you can get a chance to complete the quest smoothly.

Ding!

Please complete 100 times of technique practice, and achieve it to obtain a sense of perfection in technique inheritance jade talisman.

Please complete 100 times of energy training to enhance the foundation bone.

Please complete 100 times of talisman-making achievements…

Please complete 100 times of enlightenment achievement…

Please complete 100 times of alchemy achievement…

Please complete 100 times of poisoning achievement…

Please…

Unknowingly, when Jiang Chengxuan heard the system’s prompt again, he was told that there were no more achievements worthy of him to complete, because his existence itself was already an achievement that could never be surpassed. Collapse

Alright, so I kept reading and I am close to the latest raw releases. I am reading mtl and on chapter 679. And, I have found out that webnovel has divided up the chapters, so there are a little more than 100 chapters in the normal "translated" releases. Those greedy pigs.

Anyway, I am deep into the Upper World Arc.

    And guess what?

It has been going very solid so far. Extremely enjoyable.

I would say it's better than all the arcs before they went to Upper World except the starting arc of the story.

It has been a huge improvement. Much much better than what happened in Cultivation: Start From Simplifying Martial Arts Techniques.

So far, the couples have grown a lot. Jiang Chengxuan has become the deputy chief of a super sect. Similarly, Shen Ruyan has become a chief level figure in her super sect.

Both have progressed by two major realms. Some of the people from the lower realm have ascended too!

There has been two specific moments that might worry some people but the resolution has been very satisfactory. It's related to Jiang Chengxuan's master and the super sect in Upper World.

At the moment, where I am at, there is a three realms war happening.
There has been no young master nonsense as far I can recall. There were some conflicts with Seniors though but Jiang Chengxuan had a strong enough backing to handle that.

It has been a very pleasant read so far and for sure more than just a 3.4. At least, a 4 in my book.

Don't they live together in the upper world?

The best part is that they are always together every moment.

If in the upper world there were one in one sect and one in another, it would be very discouraging

Holy shit. With this webnovel I have realized how there is no difference between ratings in webnovel and ranobes. People think the latter is more realiable but it's actually as dogshit; no, even worse.

If I had listened to the thumb-suckers below, I would have missed out on this fine ass webnovel.

It has been an awesome read so far. I am at chapter 419. Done that in just a few days, that's how interesting it has been.

It's one of the rarer finds where MC gets married early and actually does grow with his dao companion which has been extremely solid.

And there is no sign of any harem. Actually, the MC even declared that his Dao Companion is the only one in his heart when she teased him about taking in concubines lol.

There is no young master bull shit where you feel a sense of suffocation. It's few and far in between. There is always a support layer.

Another rarer thing is that not every woman becomes a "love" interest or the author tries to give that idea. The interactions are normal and platonic and a breath of fresh air.

The growth is also at a steady pace. The system is not too encroaching. The MC is also not too OP, neither a doormat.

The only thing I am a little hesitant toward is an Upper World arc. When the time comes, it would be a make or break for this webnovel. Some can pull it off, some just are not able to.

Like cultivation starts with simplified exercises. I got so invested that I looked for the MTL and read till more than 900 chapters when the Upper Arc caused a gradual fall.

Anyway, this is a great webnovel. Much better than many.

It ain’t exceptional, the rating is pretty accurate if you actually compare it to high quality novels. You have just been tainted by the trash WebNovel has been producing for a while now. This novel is basically high quality fast food. I have finished it and on an overall scale it’s a 3.2/5 for me. If you compare it to other cultivation novels for a time pass read it is a 4.2/5

    Hahahaah cheerful
I'm really confused by Mc's character in this novel, he knows he's a transmigrant, but he acts silly, MC is too embarrassed, MC doesn't have a brain, no, no, the author doesn't have one.brain..Mc seems to be made like a small chess pawn, has no independence,Mc is like a 10 year old child, he is too silly, whatever he finds out, he has to be shocked.Tch...I really hate protagonist plots like this that are not interesting

    Got to chapter 65.

Compared to normal xianxia, the relatively sane characters and MC are a breath of fresh air. But apart from that nothing else is good. The ‘plot’ is barely there, character interactions are super rushed (author writes about 5% of any emotional development between characters, and readers are supposed to make up the rest themselves). In fact most of the novel feels rushed, which is ironic considering they actually following somewhat logical timescales (for a xianxia). It doesn’t matter if MC takes years to cultivate when you just summarise it in a line and move on… And this keeps happening.

The system is barely there and incredibly zero effort deus ex machine from author. Most systems are like this, true, but most authors make at least some effort to blend them into the stories. In this, it just pops up randomly and gives MC exactly what he needs when he needs it.

I think this is just indicative of the novel in general - minimum effort and little detail. Wouldn’t recommend tbh.

so you're telling me, he knew he had no chance of living past two hundred because of his trashy talent and just waited to die? In a world where the possibility of living for ever is very real, you just accept your level of birth and just wait to die? In a world where you could live like a god, you chose to live like a peasant and you're happy to die? He could have at least tried, could've tried becoming an evil cultivator and cultivated something that doesn't rely heavily on talent. People like this mc shouldn't be given systems or reincarnate, trash in and out, nothing will change. Why do authors do this? you can make the protagonist be whatever you want, pick something decent and be realistic.

I haven't read past the first chapter, but with my years of experience, I know red flags when I see them. This one is a low iq mc that sounded too kind by saying he doesn't wanna bother the mortals living in the village that he chose to be his grave. Idk how people can read past the first chapter with an mc like that

This is quite a stupid assumption. If it was that easy everyone would be a demonic cultivator or a peerless heaven defying expert. Cultivation is simply impossible without talent and resources.

I'm not assuming anything, this protagonist gave up the right to live and was happy and satisfied to die. I never said being an evil cultivator would be easy, but he'd at least have a fighting chance. And it doesn't have to be evil, there are so many techniques in this cultivation world, but he made no effort to look for any. He came from a whole different world, a much more technologically advanced world and achieved nothing in his 100 years of life. Do you even know how long 100 years of life is? I mean you saw it for yourself, he would've died a useless piece of nothing if not for his daddy system that will now give him quests and tell him what to do. I imagine if someone was transmigrated, they'd give it their all, and this mc did not. And that's not even the problem for me, it's his state of mind, how weak willed he is and how readily he accepts dying

I think you're judging this by the wrong standards and making a lot of incorrect assumptions. This novel isn't like a stereotypical cultivation novel. It isn't full of idiots/young masters who are constantly talking about "seeking death" and face slapping etc. Demonic cultivators aren't super common, and even if they were, he wouldn't be able to become one without any inheritance to rely on.

The cultivation in here actually requires time. Like multiple years to break through small levels. Those with talent can shorten this time somewhat, but it is still in the Years for the most part. It is likely that he spent the majority of his time actually cultivating. Like many many decades. 100 years isn't much to cultivators AT ALL. Though most novels just say that, then have the MC blast through levels in days/weeks, or months at best.

It also is different in how cultivators arent mostly arrogant, lustful or overconfident idiots. For example, when he breaks through the Foundation Establishment realm, a bunch of people from different families/sects come to recruit him. Even after he makes his choice, when he sees the rest of them again, they don't cause any trouble or hold unreasonable grudges. They understand that cultivating is extremely difficult and making an enemy out of someone like MC for no reason is stupid.

How can you say he didnt "try his all" either? We are told he managed to stumble upon an inheritance and even a lucky encounter during this time, which is extremely lucky for him. He wasn't a Protagonist with heaven defying luck or anything. He literally had the worst spirit root.

If you mean about him not fighting for opportunities, that makes complete sense for him. Not only due to his low cultivation level and lack of skills/spells/training etc. But as a transmigrator from normal times he's not gonna be able go kill people straight away. Most typical cultivation novels are either full of idiots/young masters and situations that force the MC to kill straight away or the MC is the type who doesn't care about killing anyway.
This is much more realistic in a sense - there isn't anyone finding trouble for him (at his low level) for no reason and there's not really any point for him to fight for opportunities when he is clearly too weak/not talented enough to be able to even utilise them properly.

You're also assuming way too much about his system. It doesn't force him down specific routes or anything. It just offers him a quest that involves doing something multiple times - making 100 talismans, completing 100 rounds of cultivation, refining a level 2 weapon etc.
There's no downside to not doing the Quests either, which is a huge positive. The systems where the MC HAS to complete Quests or die suck, since the MC had no agency at all. This isn't the case here at all.

You also either misread or are misinterpreting the Chapter. He got old. His lifespan was about to run out and he had no way of increasing it. Even if he did try and find a way to do so, that would require a Protagnosists luck and even then he would likely have to fight for it, which given his lack of techniques would be suicide. Literally the entire chapter just shows him as melancholy and sad about the situation - he is clearly just out of hope and feels sad, but knows he can't do anything about it. Nothing at all suggests he willingly gave up the right to live and was happy or satisfied at it - he is clearly just depressed and wants to be in peace as he dies.

Finally, your reasoning behind why he shouldn't have a system is hella weird. MC is a regular person. No heaven defying luck, no talent, not ruthless or insanely intelligent or anything. This is exactly WHY he has a system. If an MC has luck, talent, ruthlessness etc. then a system isn't really needed as much. But for an ordinary person? If there is no system then they'd likely all end up either killed by a passing cultivator for no reason, or cultivate only to be stuck in the first realm and then run out of lifespan, just like all of the normal low-level cultivators in these worlds. It would be boring af - that's why MCs either have characteristics to allow them to grow, be it familial, personal or system-based.

The author doesn't seem to be consistent with his writing.

In one chapter, he had written that the mc had accumulated money, whereas two chapters later, the author said that the mc had no savings.

I'm guessing it's more of a context thing with the translation - it sounds more like it meant he didn't have any savings to spare on the trade fair, rather than no savings at all. Not sure if that's an issue with the translation or the original though.

      Chapter 4:
Over the years, Jiang Chengxuan had accumulated some money.

Although it was by no means a lot, spending a hundred spirit stones to buy a Spirit Cleansing Pill was not a problem for him.

      Chapter 5:
This was because before he went into seclusion, he had already paid the rent for the cave abode for a year.

Although four or five spirit stones did not seem to be a lot, it was still a lot for low-level Qi Refinement cultivators like them.

Now, although the spirit stones he had accumulated could still last him for a while, it was far from enough to support him until he reached the perfected stage of the ninth level of Qi Refinement.

Therefore, he needed to sell talismans to make his pocket fuller.

      Chapter 6:
"Three months later, in the DongWon Pavilion of the Ganyang Market, there will be a trade fair specially held for us independant cultivators.

At that time, if you have anything you want to buy or trade, you can go to the trade fair to take a look. Perhaps there will be something you want."

He planned to use his talisman-making skills to draw some talismans and sell them to earn some spirit stones.

Otherwise, no matter how much savings he had, it would not be enough to spend.

      Moreover, he didn't have savings.

Read all available chapters (56). It's pretty decent tbh. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but it isn't generic trash either.

It uses all the normal cultivation tropes and settings, but in a more sane way. It takes people a very long time (years) to break through small realms. People don't get offended over nothing. They don't find trouble and try to start trouble with Foundation establishment people just because they didn't choose their sect/family etc.

There are still things like Demonic cultivators who kill mortals easily and attack cultivators wildly, but they are Demonic so it makes sense.

MC is fairly cautious, but in a common sense way rather than an overly cautious way (not like Han Jue from Top Tier Providence). He can tell when something (usually exploring a ruin or a mine) sounds sus and likely will be a trap, so doesn't go.

He gets a Dao companion, who clearly has her own secrets, but she makes it clear that she won't lie to MC about anything. There isn't really any romance at all. They mostly act like a pair of very good/close friends. Majority of both their time is spent in seclusion, so it makes sense.

Overall, I would reccomend you try this out if you're in a Cultivation novel mood. It's definetly about average.
