Chapter 326 |
Inside the celestial palace, Loki was somewhat anxious, pacing back and forth constantly in the palace garden, drawing sidelong glances from passing maids.
Seeing their second prince like this, they wondered which unlucky person had angered him.
What they could never have imagined was that Loki was not angry at all at this moment—he was terrified.
Because just now, Carol had used magical communication to tell him that Josh had already found out about their secret relationship.
Loki was panicking.
He truly feared Josh would rush to Asgard and take him out!
The tragic situation on the planet Xandar years ago was still vivid in his mind.
And regarding whether Josh could come to Asgard, Loki had no doubts whatsoever.
What to do? What to do?
“Child, what’s wrong with you?” At the moment Loki was extremely agitated, a very gentle voice came from behind him.
“Ah, Mother, it’s nothing. I was just a little bored, so I came to stroll in the garden!” Upon hearing this voice, all the agitation on Loki’s face immediately disappeared, replaced by a smile as he warmly greeted the visitor.
The visitor was none other than Frigg, Queen of Asgard, mother of Thor and Loki.
Although Loki had long since learned from Josh that he was descended from the Frost Giants and was taken in by Odin, Loki still felt genuine closeness and respect for this gentle woman who had carefully raised and taught him for over fifteen hundred years.
However, he obviously did not want her to know about Josh and Carol, so he chose to keep it hidden.
“Do you know? Child! Lying to the strongest witch in Asgard is really quite tasteless, and I also don’t believe that just walking in the garden would make my son so anxious he’s breaking out in a cold sweat!” Faced with Loki’s lie, Frigg only smiled slightly, then took out a handkerchief and gently wiped Loki’s forehead, exposing his lie.
Confronted with his mother’s unhesitating exposure, Loki was speechless, unsure what to say for a moment.
Although in the past Frigg was well aware of many of his lies and pranks, she had never confronted him so directly like this.
“Let me guess, is it because of that young human queen on Earth?” Seeing her youngest son in an awkward predicament, Frigg found it quite amusing. She had only seen such a thing from Thor in the past; compared to him, Loki usually appeared much calmer.
“How do you know?” Hearing Frigg’s words, Loki immediately lost his composure. “Damn it, it must be that bastard Thor!”
“Don’t blame your brother. Your brother is also looking out for you. Tell me, what happened that made you so anxious?” Frigg smiled as she adjusted Loki’s collar and didn’t hide the fact that Thor had betrayed his brother.
Looking out for me my ass, sooner or later that idiot is going to get me killed!
“Mother, don’t listen to Thor’s nonsense! Nothing happened!” Loki said stiffly, unwilling to admit.
“What did I tell you? Child, don’t lie in front of a powerful witch. Honestly, you’re not that young anymore; it’s normal to have romances. To be honest, I’ve often suspected there’s something wrong with you brothers — you seemed uninterested in girls since you were little. Luckily you’ve finally come to your senses, unlike your brother who loves gossiping about others but is still as wooden as ever!” While comforting Loki, Frigg also scolded Thor.
Sif’s feelings for Thor are obvious even to a fool, but after hundreds of years, Thor stubbornly pretends not to see.
No one knows if he’s truly foolish or just pretending.
Listening to Frigg’s words, Loki twitched his mouth, not knowing what to say.
“So, child, what are you worried about? Are you afraid your father won’t approve of your relationship? You don’t need to worry about that. Your father values that deity from Earth very much. His daughter is entirely worthy of you. If he knows you’re together, he would only bless you, so you don’t need to have so many concerns. What you need to determine is whether you truly love each other!” Frigg gently stroked Loki’s cheek and said.
Whether we truly love each other?
Frigg’s question made Loki fall into a daze.
If this question had been asked when he first met Carol, he would have firmly given a negative answer.
When he first met Carol and knew she was Josh’s daughter, all he wanted was to please her and make a good impression to win Josh’s favor.
Later, when he noticed Carol getting closer to him, he instinctively wanted to avoid her to prevent Josh’s wrath but as time passed, Loki realized that, at some point, Carol’s confident and beautiful smile had left an indelible mark on his heart.
Yet Josh’s intimidation kept him from facing this fact directly.
Now, Frigg’s words made him truly understand.
But then a bitter expression appeared on his face as he revealed the truth: “Mother, have you ever thought that the problem isn’t with Father, but with her father?”
Loki’s counter-question stunned Frigg.
She had never considered this.
As Queen of Asgard, ruler of the Nine Realms, for thousands of years, aside from hostile forces, all other factions had competed to flatter Asgard. There was never a question of whether anyone looked down on Asgard.
So she instinctively believed that if Loki wanted to marry a human girl—even if she was of divine descent—there should be no question of looking down on Asgard.
“So, you mean her father, that deity on Earth, does not approve of your relationship?” Frigg asked with a frown.
“...I’m afraid so...” Loki nodded helplessly.
“Don’t worry, child. Have more confidence. You are a prince of Asgard, one of the universe’s few talented young men. As for the rest, leave it to me and your father!” Frigg said after some thought.
“Leave it to you? What do you plan to do?” Loki’s expression changed slightly hearing this.
“What? Haven’t married anyone’s daughter yet and are already worrying about her? Don’t worry, we won’t offend your future father-in-law!” Seeing Loki’s nervous face, Frigg laughed happily.
It’s good to see the child grow up!
