“Carol, what’s that around your neck, a life tablet?” Josh stared at his daughter and asked.
“Huh? What life tablet? It’s just an ordinary emerald pendant, Dad, you’re overthinking!” Carol hurriedly explained upon hearing this.
“Overthinking? I only asked if it was a life tablet, didn’t say anything else, my dear!” Josh rolled his eyes.
Damn it, his usually clever daughter just slipped up because of his casual question... His own little cabbage was really being nibbled on behind his back without him knowing.

Josh’s first suspect was not Loki, but Thor.

“Why should I tell you? That’s Carol’s private business, our little secret as mother and daughter! Or are you planning to be one of those old feudal guys in history making our daughter marry for alliance?” Margot said lightly.
“What? Of course not!” Josh denied instantly.
Come on, with the power and influence he had now, who needed to arrange marriages?
“Well then, let it be~” Margot shrugged.
“But she’s not even sixteen yet!” Josh got a bit angry.
“Come on Josh, she’s almost sixteen and a queen of a country. Just dating! Back in the day, Catherine or Empress Sissi got married that young, even Elizabeth from the Commonwealth next door was secretly engaged to Philip at thirteen!” Margot casually gave examples. “And the guy is a prince, I think he’s at least qualified to be our son-in-law!”
“They, they can’t compare to Carol...” Josh was speechless facing Margot’s words.
When did that Thor get so clever, even passed the mother-in-law test?
“What, you don’t like him? I thought you really valued him, since you spent so much effort taming him!” Margot glanced at Josh.

“Shit, I’d rather Carol liked Thor the brute! At least he’s the legitimate royal heir of Asgard. Loki? What is he? A slick kid picked up from nowhere. How does he deserve Carol?” Knowing his daughter liked that bastard Loki made Josh’s blood boil!
“Josh! Since when did you get so petty? With our family’s current situation, do you really need to care about origins?” Margot didn’t understand Josh’s big reaction.
“You don’t understand, that Loki kid...” Josh didn’t know what to say, was this about lineage?
“Yeah yeah, I don’t understand much, but I know if you meddle in Carol’s love life, she might hate you for life...And ‘for life’ means more than an ordinary lifetime.” Margot rolled her eyes.
Josh was speechless.
