Chapter 1897: Advancing Side By Side (III)

Cloud Dust was astonished that he’d randomly encountered someone about to enter seventh rank. No wonder this stranger was so bold!

For a sixth rank to be able to deploy a dao domain meant that he really did stand a chance of entering seventh rank. He might even lead the entire world in ascension! A seventh rank world was a major world. Even newly born seventh ranks represented a premier heavyweight.

No wonder!

Cloud Dust took stock of the dao domain around him. Hmm, not bad. It looks like the domain is focused on darkness or emptiness. That’s not a bad dao domain, and it seems like it’s formed for a while.

“Not bad, congratulations to the fellow daoist.” The man’s expression softened slightly and he smiled. “It looks like there will be another seventh rank in the chaos soon!”

With that, his attitude was different from before.

“The fellow daoist can retrieve your dao domain. I am Cloud Dust of the Chaos Sky dao universe. It is as the fellow daoist surmises, but I am not at liberty to reveal some of the details. If the fellow daoist truly wishes to join us, you may travel with me…”

Since you’re here, don’t bother leaving. Walk with me for a bit. I was just thinking of summoning some helpers to my side. You’ll do as a minion since you’re a faux seventh rank.

“Chaos Sky?” smiled Li Hao. “The overlord of the west?? The faction of a ninth rank? That’s right, it would have to be someone of that caliber to command the allegiance of Gemini. An eighth rank isn’t sufficient, a ninth rank’s more like it!

“Senior, will Chaos Sky send powerhouses to take up residence in the Gemini dao universe?” he asked urgently.

“……” Cloud Dust frowned slightly and extended his senses around him. He didn’t detect anything, or he might’ve suspected that this guy was here to pick a fight.

Is this the attitude you should be showing a seventh rank?? You sound like you’re here to cause trouble!

Thankfully, there was no one around and they weren’t too far away from Gemini. Cloud Dust wasn’t worried about enemies, not to mention that the eastern powerhouses weren’t ready to make enemies of Chaos Sky yet.

“We’ll naturally consider it later on, but these matters shouldn’t be what the fellow daoist is concerned about,” frowned Cloud Dust. “Come with me and earn some merits to your name. Perhaps Chaos Sky will then help you set foot into seventh rank sooner rather than later. You will be a real seventh rank then!”

Li Hao sighed. It looked like Chaos Sky really had brought Gemini to its side. What a hassle! This meant that going on the offensive would be the equivalent of attacking Chaos Sky as well. It’s only been several days since I arrived in the outer regions, so this means that I’m going to offend another powerful faction, aren’t I?

People always target me, no matter where I go!

“It looks like Chaos Sky and Gemini have reached an accord…”

Cloud Dust was starting to find the situation inappropriate. He wanted to leave more than anything at this point. This guy was touched in the head, wasn’t he? But there didn’t seem to be a need to attack the newcomer. He wanted to join Chaos Sky.

As Cloud Dust blinked at how strange the other was acting, the dao domain around him suddenly strengthened and completely overshadowed him.

“How dare you!” roared Cloud Dust. He was no weakling, he was a right and proper seventh rank! He was a strong seventh rank to boot. How dare a faux seventh rank posture offensively toward him?!

Gemini was still nearby. Earth Yang would catch wind of any developments here if the disturbance was great enough. Is this guy crazy, or is there something very off about my senses??

A thousand worlds appeared the next second; some people walked out of them. Cloud Dust’s eyes widened. What?? Eighth rank?! And multiple seventh ranks?!

Fog Mountain immediately obscured the surroundings and Void punched with six elements, as well as the world of emptiness. Number Two yawned and swallowed a mouthful of air, draining Cloud Dust of endless dao strength.

The dao chess shifted into the void and unleashed thousands of rays of dao strength, tying up their target.

Li Hao did not deploy his sword just yet. He simply punched lightly, deploying the catastrophic power of thunder and lightning. He punched the other into the void and nearly shattered Cloud Dust’s body from one blow.

“The Thunder master??” gaped Cloud Dust. This was the thunder attribute, so was it the Thunder master?! But that didn’t make sense!

Who is this?!

They’d sent out an eighth rank and multiple seventh ranks to take him down. Since when did he deserve such attention??

Time seemed to freeze the next second, as did the void. Li Hao flung out supernatural characters. Each of them came down like a dao domain and obscured the dao origin within Cloud Dust’s body.

“Are you not an exalted emperor of Chaos Sky major world?” Li Hao asked with puzzlement after he assessed their target. Why… doesn’t your world strength seem that strong?

Cloud Dust’s face slackened. He came from Chaos Sky alright, but… the situation was dire.

“How would you not know, since you’ve attacked me? Why ask a question that you know the answer to? I am an exalted emperor of the Chaos Sky dao universe, but I am also the world master of Cloud Dust major world in the eastern region…”

“……” Li Hao was speechless. What the heck, you’re a traitor? I thought you were a Chaos Sky native!

“Oh, no wonder you’re so weak. I mean, no wonder your dao strength is so weak. I was worried that killing you would cause a disturbance in Chaos Sky’s dao universe…” I was thinking too much. Things didn’t need to be this complicated.

They’d taken the man alive because they were worried about exposing themselves to the Chaos Sky master if they killed Cloud Dust. What if the ninth rank descended to investigate in person?

Granted, the likelihood wasn’t big since there was a limit to the range a ninth rank dao universe could cover. He couldn’t reach the east from the west. There would be no hope of survival for other exalted emperors if he could.

Kang Han’s heart was in his throat. He’d recognized Cloud Dust—a seventh rank. This kind of personage was the sky to him, but he’d been captured in a split second by these people!

Taken alive, not killed! That was so much harder than killing someone!

A clash between peers might leave one side dead. Capturing someone was so much harder. And yet, that was what had happened to the Exalted Cloud Dust Emperor!

Li Hao was much less reserved upon learning that Cloud Dust wasn’t from Chaos Sky. “What did you chat about with the Gemini guy?” he smiled.

“Who are you?” Cloud Dust looked around him with a grave expression. An eighth rank, multiple seventh ranks, and the speaker being… a sixth rank…

He realized something the next second. Are they… from the four regions? And this is the Silver Moon king? So he’s not the Thunder master and that one’s… Fog Mountain?

Right, Fog Mountain!

The one punching me is the son of the Light master—Ming Tang?

Cloud Dust had recollected his senses. He would’ve recognized his assailants with a single glance if the Human King had shown himself, even if he’d never seen that person before either. The Silver Moon King Li Hao, however, was much more undistinguished.

Although many knew of Li Hao’s name, few were those who’d ever caught sight of him. Even if they did, Li Hao kept such a low profile that if others encountered him in the absence of an entourage, they wouldn’t think he was the Silver Moon king either.

This is bad!

The look in Cloud Dust’s eyes shifted. They’d just been discussing capturing this group of people as the condition for Gemini joining Chaos Sky. What a coincidence that he ran into them right after leaving, and was captured by them!

“Are you cultivators from Spring Autumn or Five Elements?” Cloud Dust’s mind worked furiously. “Have you taken me to pry for information on Chaos Sky? I am just an envoy to the east and have long been absent from Chaos Sky. I don’t know much…”

Li Hao couldn’t be bothered questioning the man. A dao star appeared in his hand—the one of time. He smiled and toyed with it for a while before saying to Fog Mountain and the rest, “Hold him down, I’ll take a look myself!”

Eager looks entered the eyes of the other and they nodded.

Cloud Dust didn’t know what that meant, but he soon found out. The scene in his eyes shifted as he seemed to be dragged into a massive river. He looked around, lost, before time abruptly reversed.

Color drained from Cloud Dust’s face. He saw something… just for a second. It was as if he was a floating speck of consciousness, speaking with Earth Yang.

“It’s not that hard to eliminate New Martial. If Senior Earth Yang is willing, I will gather my people and look into New Martial’s whereabouts. I can eradicate New Martial, Silver Moon, Light, and Thunder World as the senior’s greeting gift…”

Cloud Dust’s mind shook with horror. What was this?! Was this the method of Spring Autumn?? Was he mistaken and he didn’t face the Silver Moon king, but the Exalted Spring Autumn Emperor??

But that’s impossible…

He resurfaced from the river and returned to reality. Across the way, Li Hao exhaled heavily. The young man couldn’t be bothered to question their captive since they wouldn’t necessarily receive an answer. Hence, he utilized the method of retracing memories to walk the river of memories.

Li Hao frowned and looked at the other. “Is there a need for that? It’s only been a few days since we arrived in the outer region and we haven’t really offended anyone. Although we ambushed you just now, you had your eyes set on us even earlier! How could you??”

Cloud Dust quailed with shock. He’d seen it too! He’d seen it! This person… really did seem to be the Silver Moon king.

Time, right, that had been the retracing of time! It had to be!

So this person knew the method of time! No wonder he’d risen to such heights in such a short period of time. He was very young, but had been the instigator of the bloodbath in Dragon Region.

“How unlucky.” Li Hao shrugged at the rest. “This guy represents Chaos Sky in a partnership with Gemini. Their condition for joining is to kill me, the Human King, and the rest of you guys!”

Fog Mountain laughed, as did Void.

“See, I told you that we have enemies everywhere we go!” said Void. “You didn’t believe me. Now you do, don’t you? We’re a bunch of small fry in the eyes of outsiders. How would we measure up to Gemini? Using us as a present to recruit them… is well worth it!”

“……” Li Hao didn’t know what to say to that. Instead, he smiled at Cloud Dust. “You talk big for a seventh rank! I love making friends and usually don’t kill people. See, the Exalted Emperor Kang Han is having a great time with me. I’m going to let him go home after I’m done here…

“But you, pfft. I was thinking of capturing you to answer some questions, then letting you go when I’m done. How am I supposed to let you go now?”

“It’s a misunderstanding, all of this is a misunderstanding!” garbled the frantic Cloud Dust. “I was just making empty promises that I have no intention of keeping! I am Chaos Sky’s envoy to the east. The world master himself might come if anything happens to me!”

“You… think really highly of yourself!” Li Hao burst out laughing. If he can come at will, what use does he have for you? Who do you think you’re trying to scare? “Alright, enough of that. Let’s take a look at your home. Next stop, Cloud Dust major world!”

Li Hao changed the topic and instructed his people to move out. As for their captive… they would definitely kill him, but not now. It could cause too much of a disturbance in Cloud Dust if he did so now, everyone would know what he’d done. He would make some preparations before doing the deed.

Don’t mind me, since you were going to kill me first! See, I’m kind at heart. Look what other people make me do. I’m not the Human King. The Human King is the violent one. I’m educated and cultured.

etvolare’s Thoughts

And pigs fly.

Okay, I suppose they do in xianxia.
