Chapter 1898: Advancing Side By Side (IV)

A smiling Li Hao turned and cast a look back at Gemini. It looks like the outer regions are the same. Since you guys want to eliminate us, don’t mind if I do the same to you first!

Also, it looks like the Human King and the rest are indeed out of the four regions as well. The Dragon master’s conquered them. The young man frowned at the thought. However, there shouldn’t be large-scale slaughter of humans in the short run. The Dragon king won’t have that in his sights.

It’s just… humans are in for a difficult time since chaos beasts will be the majority rule in the four regions for a while.

Li Hao felt that he needed to shoulder some of the responsibility of the current situation. If he hadn’t killed… Well, alright, the situation might be even worse off if he hadn’t been involved. With another eleven seventh ranks in tow, the Dragon master would fully control the four regions. He wouldn’t politely send off New Martial as he had now.

Various thoughts ran through Li Hao’s mind before he took a look at Gemini behind him. It would cause too much of a disturbance to march on Gemini now. How should he conceal his actions?

This was so troublesome!

I’ve only just arrived and wanted to keep a low profile for a few days more. I really wish that the Human King can pick a fight right now, anyone will do! I need the heat off this place for a while!

But the Human King’s just come out of Thunder Region and probably hasn’t come across anyone now. There’s no enemies readily available. Who’s he gonna fight?

Damn this is annoying!

……

At the same time.

The Human King had gained a clear understanding of Reincarnation’s strength—four eighth ranks! This was a very strong world! However, he wasn’t concerned since the Reincarnation master wasn’t as strong as the Dragon master.

At least, that was what he thought.

If everyone was stronger than the Dragon master, then there would be too many powerhouses in the chaos.

He smiled and turned to Ironeater next to him. “Iron Lover, exert yourself to some effort and go for a spin around Reincarnation. Let’s start fishing! My blade is starving…”

Ironeater rolled his eyes so hard they threatened to stick in the back of his head. He was very worried that this flighty fellow would be the death of him.

“Four eighth ranks… four! And a dozen seventh ranks, a dozen!” Do you hear that?? Is that how you fish?! You’re going to be the death of me! Go fight the Dragon master if you have this kind of strength!

You can’t even beat the three eighth ranks by his side, and that was when you had Light with you. You’re all alone now, but you want to fight Reincarnation??

“It’s not the same,” cackled the Human King. He knew what was going through the giant panda’s mind. “There are differences between eighth ranks. Do you know how strong a cultivator of six thousand daos is?

“And if they’re a chaos beast to begin with with a formidable body, they can be viewed as a wielder of seven thousand daos. Someone like that will be much more domineering than Reincarnation, although I’ve yet to meet that world master…”

“So the Human King means that Long Zhan is stronger than Reincarnation?” Ironeater’s eyes widened.

“Isn’t that a given?” chuckled the Human King. “Of course he is! I don’t believe that any random eighth rank in the chaos knows seven thousand daos. If that’s the case, then I’ll head home and go to sleep right now. There’s no hope left in existence!”

Ironeater didn’t have a strong understanding of the difference. He simply knew that the Dragon master was very strong. But based on the Human King’s words, he might be terrifyingly strong.

Was that possible?

The monster spirit didn’t understand it, but could only say, “Then if powerhouses stream out of Reincarnation…”

“Do you think they’ll take you that seriously?”

Ironeater wilted after giving it some thought. Fine, they won’t.

A peak seventh rank without a major world made for a difficult opponent, but it wouldn’t prompt their opponent to send out their eighth ranks en masse. They would most likely just send one eighth rank and two seventh ranks. That would be a very respectful showing already.

“I don’t know if they still remember me…” he took a deep breath.

“Of course they do!” smiled the Human King. “Based on your words, you almost smashed him flat with a club. How could they forget that? If it was me, I would’ve sought revenge from you a long time ago!

“And now that my enemy shows up on my doorstep when I’m possibly an eighth rank, of course I’ll come out roaring! Go on, good luck, I wait for your good news!” The Human King grinned. “I’ll help you enter eighth rank after you finish this task. After that, you’ll be able to fight the Dragon master yourself. How nice!”

“……” As skeptical as Ironeater was, he was truly tempted. Would the Human King really help him break through to eighth rank?

…probably?

“Very well, I will go!” Ironeater set his jaw. “But… please take care of Tie Han…” [1] He meant the other Ironeater seventh rank.

“It’s fine if I die, but there needs to be someone left to carry on our legacy…” The Ironeater master sounded like he wouldn’t be returning from this trip.

“Don’t worry,” shrugged the merry Human King. “Besides, if you die, Tie Han might follow your footsteps. Therefore, you won’t be dying today!

“And do you want to give Tie Han a new name? Han is the character for silly or foolish. There’s a brother of mine that I like to call Silly as well…”

The Ironeater master stared speechlessly at the Human King. Was this the time to talk about matters like these? The name just has a similar meaning in your language, it doesn’t mean that the name is the same in mine. All races have different languages. Mental transmission just translates them to something similar sometimes. It’s so hard to talk to you.

On the other hand, the Human King was exuberant. It was finally time to do something major! After so many years, he could finally throw caution to the wind and take whatever action he wanted for once. He glanced behind him with some confusion. Was Silver Moon behind him?

How are you guys slower than me? What are you doing?

Ah, whatever. I’m going on the run after this hit.

Meanwhile, Ironeater looked ahead with the face of the doomed. He rushed Reincarnation. If I die, then I die. Although the Human King doesn’t feel like a very dependable partner, he talks a tempting talk. I’m all fired up from it!

Let’s kill!

……

Reincarnation major world.

An eighth rank had his eyes closed in meditation when he opened them with surprise. Something appeared in his eyes, alongside some confusion. His expression shifted as he broke through the air.

The man arrived by the world gates in the blink of an eye and looked into the distance. There was a massive panda there with a giant metal club on its shoulders.

“You pieces of shit!” it roared. “This seat is simply passing by, why can I not fly through this area…”

“This is the ninth level!” snorted a Reincarnation seventh rank. “How dare you, what world do you come from?? How dare you trespass in the ninth level…”

Ironeater seemed ready to let loose in full blown rage, but he suddenly cast a puzzled look at the world gate. He hesitated, then shouted, “It’s… you?! You animal! This is your world?? Come here for a beating!”

The confused seventh rank registered the swing of a metal club. Peak seventh rank blazed in response, but the club broke through the firmament!

Boom!

The seventh rank flew backward, coughing up blood and staring with disbelief. How had someone dared attack a Reincarnation seventh rank in the ninth level! They were crazy!

The giant panda shrilled with bloodshot eyes, “Eighth rank?! You bastard! How are you worthy of being an eighth rank?! Just you wait, this seat will kill you sooner or later!”

He immediately swung back and ran, quickly disappearing in the void.

It was then that the man near the world gates jerked with recognition. I wasn’t wrong, it is him! Ironeater!

Killing intent blazed out of his eyes, as did past events come to the fore.

Many, many years ago, he’d traveled the universe when he was young. He’d crossed Thunder region and entered the four regions. One day, he came across a group of monster spirits.

He’d forgotten why conflict broke out, just that he killed two monster spirits. At the end, this damnable fellow swung blow after blow in furious succession, smashing him into the abyss. Every bone in his body broke and he was nearly smashed to death…

Long Zhan’s appearance stopped the other from killing him.

After that encounter, he swore to rise up. That was when he finally set foot into eighth rank and became the fourth eighth rank of Reincarnation. He’d almost forgotten Ironeater by now. Or rather, he’d never forgotten the humiliation he’d suffered that day.

The situation in the four regions had been constantly unclear and Reincarnation was continuously on the warpath to become the overlord of the east. He’d been so busy that he set the four regions aside.

But today, he saw his most hated arch nemesis on his own doorstep.

BOOM!

An explosion startled him awake. He’d lost his composure when he saw his enemy. It’d been so long since he last lost control like this.

With that, he took one step outward and ran straight into the chaos. Several exalted emperors appeared behind him, with one calling out, “Where are you going, Drifting Life?”

The Exalted Drifting Life Emperor was the fourth eighth rank of Reincarnation. He possessed an impressive background as he was the descendant of the world master. Although many generations separated them, he was a descendant nonetheless—one with the most potential and brightest future.

He’d grown up in front of the Reincarnation master and learned from the man until he reached seventh rank. He’d thought that eighth rank would be exceedingly difficult to reach, until that trip propelled him to eighth rank.

This was the key to Reincarnation dominating the east. Just three eighth ranks might not have been sufficient, but four eighth ranks was a vastly different concept. That immediately placed them over Arctic major world. Arctic had three eighth ranks, but Reincarnation had four!

These days, Reincarnation was holding internal discussions of how to handle the other eighth rank worlds. That was key. Several eighth ranks were gathered on Reincarnation at the moment when they suddenly sensed Drifting Life’s loss of control. It immediately sent a frisson of alarm through the assembly.

They hadn’t cared about external conflicts before, since they often happened. Ambushing powerhouses of their level was a rare occurrence. But seeing Drifting Life rush out like that… was very perturbing. This was very likely a trap.

1. Tie is the character for iron. None world masters don’t get actual names in my translation ethos.
