Didn't we have the same very exact scenario played out in the BG2's underground arc?

The drow matriarch was preparing a major blood sacrifice to obtain a blessing from some evil gods. You go into the drow city disguised as a drow and play along. And then you can backstab the drow matriarch in the middle of the sacrifice ritual (when she is distracted) and can get the blessing yourself or bargain for a different blessing/items from the opposing force.

I doubt it. An object containing full knowledge of the Weave should be a legit divine artifact. And Shar could feel the presence of her own divine artifact in the proximity when she descended. It might have some undocumented features, but active tracking would be redundant since our MC never hid from Shar to begin with. And if it had tracking - she would never have to wonder as to the location of our MC's lair.

And methinks our MC being a diviner (possibly Chosen of Fate) and all has the methods to counter tracking even by a mediocre god. His saving throws with the Fate boon would be ridiculous. And the sensing range of low level gods depends on the physical position of their faithful and doesn't cover that big an area around them. And we know that Shar has hardly any followers making her ostensibly blind. As the rest of the goddesses seem to be.

Now, Shar probably is plotting something against the other 3 goddesses... as each and every of them obviously is plotting against the rest. That said, I don't get their play. Underdark creatures tend to really suck at invading the surface - just fundamentally not designed to survive in the surface environment. Both their bodies and especially items would just desintegrate. Same as surface creatures have a hard time surviving in the Underdark. As such, taking over the Underdark by them four is cool and all, but it doesn't do much in the grand scheme of things.
