On the day of his spiritual root test, he was found to possess a fifth-grade root. In this lifetime, it would be nearly impossible to break through the Mid Qi Refining stage.

The immortal sects refused to accept him. The path to eternal life seemed forever closed.

Coincidentally, the Demonic Sect was collecting s*aves from across the lands, those with poor aptitude, branding them as “Spirit s*aves”. They used a forbidden cultivation art that burned lifespan as fuel, raising numerous batches of expendable materials. These s*aves would sacrifice their own cultivation to produce spiritual sand, a resource consumed by the Demonic Sect.

Wang Yu, captured from Stone Lake City, was taken to the demonic lands. As a spirit s*ave, he entered the demonic path. Fortunately, he possessed the mysterious [Idle Slot] , which could solve many of his problems!

[Idle Slot 1: Bloodburn Art]

A mediocre, low-quality work comparable to many similar ones. The main character gains numerous techniques and knowledge without demonstrating sufficient value or effort. His cheat literally eliminates all the side effects of bad techniques and turns them to his advantage. Situations that should cripple him or put him in a difficult situation only increase his strength and provide rewards. The work shows that MCs require an incredible amount of resources, but the amount required is much lower, and yet they show no progress! A trivial situation in the 60s shows how the main character has progressed by consuming a lot of resources, while other secondary characters show no progress, etc. An extremely flawed and trivial work. Rating 2/5.

Bro his cheat is a##, in later chapters he barely progresses one minor realm and he gets easily stomped when fighting against real geniuses. He gets toyed so easily you wish he would have better cheats.

MC's cheat is not bad but the trouble the author sends his way is stronger, even if mc had god-like cheat this author would still find a way to screw him over.

The author may have truly changed the concept of the work and made it better, but at the beginning, the secondary characters are literally worthless—they're just mobs for harvesting huge amounts of loot that they'll never use or contribute to their progress. Over the course of 68 chapters, literally only the main character progressed. Reading 100/200+ chapters again to see secondary characters with better bases/roots/resources make the same mistakes again isn't exactly appealing.

3.3 stars. Writing quality is above average and the story is a bit generic. Cultivation system is meh but the fights are interesting. I’m dropping it because I personally don’t like its direction, but you may enjoy how it turns up.

If you want to see why I’m dropping it, you can see my spoiler below:

As of chapter 50 its really plain with nothing really interesting to show off 4/10 will read like 20 chapters more if nothing changes will drop.
    The mc:
-not bad not great its your standard xianxia protagonist that not too much of a murder hobo.
    the system:
-the system is very simple and starts op and will develop into something so op there is 0% chance that the mc will have an reacurring ally that will keep up with him after the inevitable higher realm transition if the author doesnt gutt it somehow. And the system give big "way of the devil" vibes with the body modifications.
    the cultivation:
-quite garbadio you gather qi make qi into strands you get x strands to lvl up and from other comments here its looks like it works like that in foundation establishing stage too so meh.
    the translator:
-its quite bad? I switched to mtl after hiccup like "my cheat generates 12 strands of qi a day that means after a year I will get only 365 strands of qi" (or something like that) plus other smaller inconsistency, And so far mtl is very readable.
thanks for reading my ted talk

Nice read, i read continuously till the last translated chapter (192) which i have not done for a long time now, all the problems i have with it is due to personal bias that’s why i would recommend you read it yourself.

For example i am not a fan of the cultivation system which is summed up as accumulate spiritual qi, compress then breakthrough, repeat, repeat again, it was fine during the qi refining stage but my boy was doing the same thing on the foundation establishment stage, that took the smile off my face, where is the mysticism? i took a sneak peek at the MTL, guess what, he was still doing the same thing, see it’s Xianxia, it should not only have a great story but the cultivation aspect is supposed to be top notch as well or atleast better.

I also have issues with the cross realm fighting, defeat a cultivator of the same stage with one punch, okay, defeat another 1 minor realm above, oh he is a genius, 2 minor realm above, he is a 1000 years genius, defeat 3 minor realm above…wait 2 , worse still it was not 1v1, bro was fighting multiple people above him in cultivation stage alone and still wipes the floor with them, why? guess it’s okay because the system is just accumulation of qi and he is better skilled because of his cheat.

I don’t like the fact that he sometimes challenges cultivators a major realm above him to their face and they just let him do shit without sending him to the afterlife at once, it takes away the sacredness of the stages above.

We saw him suffer the consequences of his actions at the beginning but it’s kinda sad that it didn’t happen again, seeing the other mistakes he keeps on doing they just kinda work out for him at the end.

We see the MC making more decisions based on emotions as we go, at the beginning he uses his head first which i agree might come out as cold blooded sometimes, is this the character development Daoist Inkdrunk was talking about? Well unfortunately i am one of those that think the MC got soft, hear me out, i am used to the main character starting out with emotions then go off to become pragmatic, weighing the consequences of his actions before acting on them instead of just acting, you know more experience, especially since he is a demonic cultivator, but in this novel the reverse is the case, again this is my personal bias.

For example we see a situation whereby the MC considered mutual destruction in a totally preventable situation because he hates the guts of some people, i was like WTF just happened.

Another one is the fact sometimes things are way to convenient for the MC, he needs something, bam, he indirectly gets it ,even the consequences he got at the beginning turned out to help him immensely, pls let him suffer just a little bit till he has a somewhat pessimistic view on life cry too much, sorry, i just feel like the mc journey is smooth sailing, most people actually enjoy that, me i prefer challenges cause they will make the story intense. I won’t mind if the consequences live with him for atleast 500 chapters. He should learn that actions have grave consequences and sometimes they are permanent. gosling3

I took a peek at the MTL and it is very well written, so enjoy.

I would rate the novel 3.9/5.0 and recommend you read it yourself, it’s actually Good, just not great enough to make me delve into the Dao of MTL.

One thing I hate about the people here is that they always want the main character to suffer, and when they suffer they complain about him suffering a lot.

I think you misunderstood what i meant, apart from the initial consequence for his actions at the beginning, the mc life has been smooth sailing so far, there is no challenge because he is just gonna breeze through it, life is not all roses for example he should not be able to win every fight he participate’s in, even if it’s on the same realm, there should be someone just better, more resources and he should know it, so he can strive to surpass them, i believe success is built upon loss, it builds his character and makes a better foundation for future, i am not saying he should suffer too much, just add a little bit of black into the white picture no one likes if it’s all black or all white.

Yea, the earlier chapters were kind of annoying/slow indeed. But I'm starting to get more interested now that I'm past chapter 20. This is not the usual, "get stronger and slaughter them all" type of plot so far. Pacing is fairly nice. Hopefully it lasts and doesn't devolve later on.

It's well written, but it lacks plot arcs, which would have been great. For me, it's somewhere between a 3.8 and 4.3.
