On the day of his spiritual root test, he was found to possess a fifth-grade root. In this lifetime, it would be nearly impossible to break through the Mid Qi Refining stage.

The immortal sects refused to accept him. The path to eternal life seemed forever closed.

Coincidentally, the Demonic Sect was collecting s*aves from across the lands, those with poor aptitude, branding them as “Spirit s*aves”. They used a forbidden cultivation art that burned lifespan as fuel, raising numerous batches of expendable materials. These s*aves would sacrifice their own cultivation to produce spiritual sand, a resource consumed by the Demonic Sect.

Wang Yu, captured from Stone Lake City, was taken to the demonic lands. As a spirit s*ave, he entered the demonic path. Fortunately, he possessed the mysterious [Idle Slot] , which could solve many of his problems!

[Idle Slot 1: Bloodburn Art]
Bloodburn Art (0/100): Train 48 sessions per day; achieve mastery in one year.

Read all the MTL currently available onsite, and the novel overall was a fun read. It does progress similar to sloppier novels - MCs plot armor and "cunning" prevailing over all, but the world-building and overall story is quite captivating. While the novel does read like a typical power scaling number go up simulator, for me personally, it tickles all of my xianxia needs. Multiple power levels? Obviously. Multiple realms? For sure. Rich young masters? Absolutely. Face-slapping? Guaranteed. Our venerable protagonist is a pimp named slickback and he makes his enemies his bitches. If they ain't making him money, he devours them and takes their money, so either way, he's getting that spiritual paper.

On a more serious note, it's not a bad read. I don't know why others call it low grade or full of plot holes. The writing (and the MTL) - solid. The plot? Gets a bit convoluted at times, but does showcase linear growth. Interesting law/dao fruit system. Plot armor? Unfortunately, there's quite a bit, but come on, it's yet another system novel, what did you expect? I'd give it a solid 8 or 9, definitely worth my time.

More in the direction of 7-8 not nearly in any way a 9, very solid, but nothing remotly on that lvl. (Nothing new is realy being done, the cheat is never realy deepend, the mc isnt overly unique etc etc, not worthy of what i would say a 9 is, for example LOTM is a 8.9-9.2 for me)

It ain't new but it does expand upon the existing concepts. Other novels just have breakthrough, then they're done but this one at least develop that power stage. So 2 points at least for this one...

In a world with Qi. Still a terrible example, if he was a mortal sure but he already wasnt, sure it was a less discomfort than youd expect but your examples suck lol. Please learn that plot holes in a supernatural world can only truly exist if they violate what the story setup as its rules, but we never heard a rule saying that this would make it impossible to do this.

Btw i am being this harsh purely because i find this type of screaming fire (yes plotholes is a fire, its one of the strongst negative things a story can have)when its a firefly annoying it makes searching worthwhile stuff so much harder. Same the other way around people telling there is an Oasis and Utopia here, but its merely a small pond in a desert are just as annoying.

it's worth a read, baseline 3 star for sure,
don't let the negative comments discourage you from trying to read, the mc is level headed and learn from mistakes, he is not unbelievably smart from the beginning, as you read you can tell the author add some intelligence to the mc, he becomes more cunning and he also suffers setback.

the cultivation is nothing particularly unique, pretty much the mainstream stages with orthodox and demonic faction.

as for the golden finger, in the early stages it may seem overwhelmingly good even too good, but in the middle part it's kinda get patched, the golden finger also have upgrades as the mc get stronger so the golden finger can stay relevant.

so yeah for me this is a good novel, 4 stars for me personally.

This novel is definitely a hidden gem for Xianxia/Xuanhuan lovers.

    9.5/10.

I want to emphasize the most important points:

    1. The cultivation system.

Each stage is well-crafted by the author. For a Xianxia, that's already quite good. He didn't innovate too much, just did a good job.

Each sub-stage (initial, intermediate, final, and apex) is described by the author, from the obligation to gather Qi threads, strengthen the mind-spirit-body, build marks on the golden core, and everything else you can imagine.

It's important to state that he manages to give us a fluidity in the protagonist's power progression in a very good way. The protagonist spends years, decades, or even hundreds of years in a cultivation stage. Each stage is a well-written journey.

I honestly think he must have racked his brains a lot to avoid making each realm repetitive. He succeeded well in this.

P.S.: One simple thing, but one that I really liked about the work, is the fact that our protagonist has his own "calendar." Every time he surpasses a stage, he creates his own "calendar" and "diary," describing his progress. This is useful for the reader not to get lost and, in my opinion, enriches the story. Later, he even uses this to develop a Dao of Time.

    2. The protagonist's character.

I would like to start by stating that our protagonist is not evil. He is a demonic cultivator, someone who lives and cultivates for his freedom and desires, ruthless and cruel, but not inherently evil.

He is an ordinary young man who was kidnapped and sold as a blood slave to a Demonic Sect. Thanks to his "golden finger," he manages to have hope, but this doesn't diminish his worth. Throughout the reading, we see that he is extremely ruthless, even with himself.

The story's progression and the protagonist's development are also very well done in this work. Throughout the reading, you will see the protagonist in situations that question his morals and principles. His cultivation journey itself is a questioning of who he really is; this is literally his cultivation (the cultivation of mindset, or Dao Heart).

During this reading, we see him get to know his "true self" more and more, and his essence increasingly identifies him as a demonic cultivator. (For those who like spoilers:
    )

This character progression and development isn't simple; it happened throughout the more than 700 chapters I read. I can say that he showed himself to be ruthless and cruel, yet with principles and humanity. He's not a psychopath who can isolate himself and commit atrocities without reason. You won't find that protagonist who takes pleasure in committing evil and madness in this work.

    3. Extensive Chapters and Good Plot Development.

The author writes a lot. Each chapter has close to 10,000 characters. While reading, I felt like I was reading a work with over 1300 chapters.

The main reason I defined this is that the author managed to write all this so far without making it repetitive.

Each cultivation stage and each "volume" brings a different challenge/plot for our protagonist.

There aren't idiotic young masters all the time in this work. It's a demonic cultivation story with mostly intelligent characters. Our protagonist is always suspicious, always expect the worst from all cultivators (except his harem).

    For example:

    (SPOILER ALERT)
    (SPOILER ALERT)
    (SPOILER ALERT)

Just read it. It's a great novel.

    9.5/10

The Xianxia market is very repetitive and full of works lacking "personality," but this work manages to be different and complete in a very good way. It has a plot, coherence, a protagonist with an ideal attitude, a good power system, a good writing pace, and much more.

I don't believe anyone here who likes the genre could give this work less than an 8/10.

Those you mentioned are the best of the best. I like to classify them in a separate list. Just like LoTM.

Besides that, only Outside Time fits as a work in the same or similar genre.

P.S.: I saved it to read here, but I haven't read Outside Time yet.

The better translation which is the wuxiaworld translation has different name for it going by Beyond the Timescape, not Outside of Time. So if you are going to read that, I would recommend that translation.

Like you said for people who want to read it, they should most definitivly read Beyond the Timescape its imo the best Xianxia novel. Outside of Time is still top tier but imo its "only" around the lvl of classics or RI. (Btw imo the diffrence between the two is pretty huge)

The Mc is certainly Evil, maybe not Chaotic Evil but evil nonetheless, he has killed multiple times just out of pure greed, not because he needed to survive or even had a grudge. So saying he is just a Demonic cultivator and not evil is a bit misleading, to me that would mean he cultivates these arts and even is ruthless to his enemys, but killing people beyond that is certainly not part of that.(If you truly want a distinction between demonic cultivator and just being evil)
