Shen Miao, the Di daughter of a military lineage, pure, amiable, quiet and yielding, foolishly in love with Prince Ding, threw herself into the role of a wife. After assisting her husband for six years, she finally became the mother of the world (Empress).

She accompanied him to fight for the country, flourished the country’s territory, took risks to become a hostage in another country. When she returned five years later, there was no place for her in the Inner Palace.

The beauty in his arms smiled brightly, «Older sister, the country is stabilized, so you should retire.»

Her daughter met with a violent death and her son the Crown Prince was deposed. Her Shen family who sacrificed themselves for the country and the Emperor, not a single one of them were lucky enough to escape. With the change of one dynasty, everything was overturned. Her clan perished and she had to mourn for her children.

Shen Miao never thought that being a married couple who have gone through trials and tribulations and mutually assisted each other was just a stage joke to him!

He said, «Seeing that you have followed Zhen for twenty years, Zhen will grant you an intact corpse. You should thank this kindness.»

Under the three Chi (1 chi = 1/3 meter) of white silk, Shen Miao made a malicious vow: In the time to come, she will take part in each and everyone’s end!

Upon rebirth, she returned to the time when she was fourteen, when the tragedy had yet to occur, her family was still alive and she was still the pure, amiable, quiet and yielding Di daughter of a military lineage.

Relatives hiding a black heart, Elder and younger (female) cousins are ruthless and malicious, the new Yiniang is like a tiger watching its prey and the disreputable man who wants to repeat the events?

Her family must be protected, the huge enmity must be avenged, the Imperial seat of the country must also be a part of the trophy. In this lifetime, let’s see who can beat the others!

But that little marquis from the Xie family, the arrogant and obstinate spear carrying youth, stood biasedly at her side and proudly said, «Just the fall of the Imperial power. Remember this, the world belongs to you. You– Belong to me!» Collapse

Decent novel. The writing itself is very well done. The story is decent but not amazing. Characters are the same. A solid 7.5 - 8 out of 10.

Should read this on another website like novelbin because here there are a lot of missing parts so the flow of the story is terrible.

    Ending is also solid.

    [Review: Complete Novel]

    [Genre:] [Revenge/Romance]
[Major Tags:] [Female Protagonist] / [Revenge] / [Romance]
[Minor Tags:] [Ancient China] / [Reincarnation] / [Conspiration] / [War]

    [Summary:]

In her Initial Life, a Virtuous Empress had given everything to the one she loved, and helped him to ascend the imperial throne. And yet, despite loving with all her heart, she was tragically betrayed, and ultimately lost everything. She was given a reincarnated second-chance, and from the simple and honest woman-in-love she was, she will become the most vicious Noble Daughter, all in order to protect the ones she cares for. In her desperate quest for changes and revenge, she will slowly discover the real reason of her reincarnation, and learned that: maybe it wasn't wrong for her to trust wholeheartedly, and that she had simply loved the wrong person.

    [Setting:]

The universe of the this story center on the Ancient Chinese Imperialism, and the novel focus on the interactions between three empires. The MC is the infamous daughter of a famed military general, and ever since her Reawakening, the plots describe, step-by-step, her path toward glory and vengeance. This story is not fantasy-based, and Power is mostly reflected by Schemes and Authorities; and the Cultivation within is a background-aspect.

    [Plot:]

The Plot is clear, linear, and unconfused from the beginning to the end. The whole story is short, concise, well executed, and cohesive.

    [Characterization:]

The Characterization is very well done. There aren't any needless exposition of unnecessary characters, and the MCs are particularly appealing. The Characterization, while simple and straightforward, was very suitable. (Deep for the MCs, and Shorter-but-memorable for other Characters) All characters are generally quite well-defined.

    [Writing Style:]

The author has a straightforward style, and the story is easy to flow and follow. The translation is well done and the flow is smooth. The writing is not overly descriptive, and excelled at interactions between characters and dialogs.

    [Tone:]

The Tone in general is rather neutral, but it is by no means bland. And it does not possess any cultural bias, and is mostly gender-neutral.

    [Mood:]

This story start rather tragically, and has a longer period (than average) of... gloominess: since the MC must climb-back from the very bottom of the Darkness. However, it slowly changes, as the MC tilts the balance of her initial Poor Fate in her favor.

    [Strongest Points:]

    - Male Suitable Romance.
Very strange to... write, but among the many light-novels tagged with Romance... this is probably one of those very few that I honestly thought that was quite well done. A big Plus, is that this Romance is actually very suitable for Males to read, as it is themed with Wars, and isn't one of those overly-cheesy or delusional female-romances. (Ex: the female prota finds some President... who pampers her through the moon for no reasons other than: Love... starting from two chapters before... Really... Berk.)

    - Characterization.
There are many memorable characters in this story. The interactions are really on-point. And I really like BOTH the male and female protagonists, which doesn't happen quite often for me, particularly in a Romance.

    - Many First Times for me in this story:
    a) First time truly liking a Female Protagonist.
    b) First time liking a chinese light-novel's arrogant-and-rich-young-master.
    c) First time liking a chinese light-novel's Empress and Emperor.
    d) First time reading a Romantic Revenge Story very suitable for males.

    - Objective Tone.
For a C-LN, the story is objectively written, straightforwardly portrayed, and possess no over-exaggerations typical of most C-LNs. The point-of-view is often relevant, gender-neutral, and unbiased.

    - Dialog.
There were many funny and interesting conversations. What's good too, is the fact that in no way, those conversations were generic (which means that it could apply to any character), and were very suitable, and often unique to the different characters.

    - Coherence. The story, from the very beginning to the end, is very coherent, and though too short for my wish, is neither rushed nor incomplete.

    - Ending.
One of those rare novels that start freaking tragically, but end wonderfully.

    - Genuine Female Assertion.
Many Female Protagonist Romances... uphold their Female Position while depending on the Male's Support. (Ex: some female MC falls in love with a Rich Man, a Noble, or some President; and the Prince, Noble, or what-not, throughout the whole story, will indirectly help the MC for everything. A Male Plot-Armor of a sort.)
Their Starting Premises make them sound as if they are promoting their Female Position; when in fact, all they want is simply find a strong male support. (Ex: finding a husband, a Prince, or a President, etc.)
Well, this novel isn't like that.
This Female Prota is not one who lightly trust Male Gender for no reasons, and often deny their helps when it isn't necessary. To be honest, it is very, very refreshing. Not only it makes the story much more credible; their relationships filled with struggles become that much more valuable; and it also allows us, Readers, to truly sympathize with the MC when she really needs help.
For once, the so-called Female Alpha isn't a hypocritical one, but rather genuine, respectable, and loveable.

    - Depth.
This novel has a very spiritually inspiring side, (for ex: I rather admire that Female MC Empress, for being... who she was, and yet still preserve her... pure heart, despite all her tragic past) and I'd love to see this dramatized for different platforms.

    [Weak Points:]

    - Platform.
Can you believe that I'm writing a review here, but most of this novel, I had to read it somewhere else? Well... that's what happened! For some reasons, there are just too many missing chapters, that it was just too painful for my butt trying to read this here.

    - Too Short.
The every short-coming that all excellent stories have: I wish that there were more Side Stories, more kingdoms to conquer; in sum, more opportunities to show more of those characters. I feel like that: although the story was well-cut, it could have expanded even more.

    - Slow Start.
This novel requires some emotional patience to start. The reason being the story starts at the gloomiest moment for the MC, and it takes a while before readers could finally see some lights. It'd be a shame if some impatient readers could not restraint their frustrations, and miss out the rest at their own loss. The author probably should have added a few more positive relevant scenes between, but then again, it really can't be said that it wasn't well-done, as this Plotting made the whole story more sensical. (ex: the Plotting is not cringy like some other novels, where it gives the impression that for no reasons, the family wants to exterminate the MC. In another way, the foreshadowing was well-done.)

    - Title.
Don't know what kind of weed the author smoked to choose this... malicious Title... but after reading this novel, I... impeach him for sullying the Majesty of the Empress. I would rather call this novel: Rebirth of the Virtuous Empress, instead. While she was indeed ruthless by moments, but honestly, for me, needlessly ruthless is what makes one truly malicious.

    [Conclusion:]

    - For any Romance Writer, this is a Must-Read. If most Romance were written this way, there'd be way more guys reading them for sure.

    - For Revenge Story-Lovers, this is a very good read. Though I wish it was more expanded, the whole story was satisfying.

    [Verdict:]

An excellent Romance-Revenge Story for all. A heavy start but delightful end. A miss-this-out at your own loss.

    [Unrelated After-Reading Questions:]

    - Q1) In Reincarnation Novels, when some MCs goes back in time... before the Bad Guys become truly bad, is it alright to condemn them for crimes that they may never commit due to the changes? Though it does make sense to punish them, but it also feel somewhat contradictory, as it implies that Human Nature is intrinsically unchangeable. Or, rephrasing it in another way, if your other self in a parallel universe commits some crimes, should you really be punish for it?

    - Q2) Why authors like to write as if characters could somehow feel what their past-selfs did? (Ex: MC hugs someone in the Initial Past, but in the Changed Future, that feeling somehow remain for the hugged character who doesn't know about that Past.)

    - Q3) Many novels are tagged Reincarnation or what-nots. But most of them do not fully go back from the beginning (baby), and instead, restart at a rather specific timeframe. Should that really be considered Reincarnation instead of Time-Travel?

This is a very good story and I rate it highly, however I didn't read it here. I found and started the story here but there were just so many missing chapters that I couldn't bear it anymore so I went to novelupdates to complete it. For example, from chapter 63 all the way to Chapter 175 all had their part 2 missing. There's a host of others too. All in all, I'll say about 1/3 of the chapters are missing. So while the book is certainly interesting, I'll advise you go elsewhere to read it.

For those who like to read a decent romance or try some other genre to freshen up your mind, I recommend this novel. It was a good read and the end is fulfilling. No BS drama due to misunderstandings between MC and FMC. Familial relationships are adequately portrayed with no major cliches. A fresh read for binging!! wiseacre
