Chapter 919: Prisoners

Xiao Yu’s gaze looked toward the distant battlefield through the instruments mounted on the spy equipment. The war had indeed already begun. The several hundred thousand Neutron War Stars and White Dwarf War Stars had already become completely entangled with the nearly ten million warships of the Technological Civilization.

But Xiao Yu’s attention was not on this matter at all. In Xiao Yu’s heart, that line of poetry was still echoing, “I only wish your heart were like mine…”

All of a sudden, Xiao Yu felt very warm inside. In this dark and boundless universe, who else could still maintain such feelings toward him? Only Chen Mo. Although the music civilization refused to say it explicitly, Xiao Yu believed that this must have been Chen Mo using the music civilization to tell him this.

“I have never changed.” Xiao Yu sighed softly. “You have not changed either, right?”

Xiao Yu’s heart churned like ocean waves. At this moment, Xiao Yu recalled many things, the little moments between him and Chen Mo on Earth, the necktie that had been sent to him after leaving Earth, the speed of light that had been reduced by five hundred and twenty-one micrometers… Xiao Yu had to use enormous willpower to stop himself from continuing to think about these things and force his attention onto the war unfolding before him.

Only now did Xiao Yu understand how Neutron War Stars, White Dwarf War Stars, and other extreme stellar bodies could function in the hands of a Level 7 Civilization. It had to be said that in the hands of a Level 6 Civilization like the Sweepers, the strength of Neutron War Stars had indeed been greatly limited. The Sweepers Civilization had seemed to use only some of the most basic functions of a Neutron War Star and had been unable to bring out its true power.

Up to now, Xiao Yu knew of the following attack methods of Neutron War Stars: direct collision, Spatial Starburst, and some kind of short-range rapid navigation ability that would have been unimaginable to a Level 6 Civilization. Now, in the hands of a Level 7 extreme stellar body civilization, the Neutron War Stars displayed even more attack forms. These attack forms raised Xiao Yu’s evaluation of Neutron War Stars yet again.

Xiao Yu saw that the several hundred thousand extreme stellar bodies had all canceled every type of radiation shielding apart from gravity shielding. Neutron stars and white dwarfs were both extremely extreme stellar bodies, and their own radiation was tremendously powerful. When the radiation of several hundred thousand extreme stellar bodies intertwined together, how terrifying would the resulting energy eruption become?

At this moment, Xiao Yu actually faintly had the feeling of being beside a quasar again. This region of space had already been turned into something like hell by the several hundred thousand extreme stellar bodies, and this environment had no effect on the extreme stellar bodies themselves. The only ones affected were the warships of this Technological Civilization.

This seemed to be only the most basic form of changing the battlefield environment as an attack method. Aside from that, these Neutron War Stars also displayed rich forms of spatial attack, among which there was plainly a modified version of Xiao Yu’s Spatial Cannon. Much like the virtual life civilization’s lightsaber attack, it was likewise a spatial attack form based on the same technological foundation, but with different technological details and a different developmental direction.

There was another attack method that was very unexpected to Xiao Yu. Neutron War Stars and White Dwarf War Stars both possessed extremely powerful radiation abilities. Aside from being used to alter the battlefield environment and create an advantage for their own side, these radiation abilities seemed to have other uses. Xiao Yu saw that at one moment, a certain Neutron War Star actually gathered all of its radiation ability into a single point and then blasted this powerful energy outward in a form similar to a laser cannon. After striking its target, a Nation-Class warship of the space civilization was almost instantly pierced through.

There was a famous nebula in the Milky Way, the Crab Nebula. The Crab Nebula originated from the gaseous remains of a star left behind after a supernova explosion, and it had a diameter of about six light years. Normally, gaseous stellar remains do not shine, so logically the Crab Nebula should also have been dim. Yet in classification it belonged to the category of emission nebulae, with extremely gorgeous light radiating from it. And the source of that light was the radiation from the neutron star at the center of the Crab Nebula.

The radiation of a neutron star possessed this kind of power. Its radiation energy reacted with the stellar gaseous remains and caused a nebula six light years in diameter to glow like a lit bulb. One could imagine what level of energy this represented. And now, under the transformation of this Level 7 extreme stellar body civilization, the immense energy that could produce changes across several light years was all gathered into one point, then used for precise targeted strikes. Just thinking about this kind of attack made one shudder. Even Xiao Yu was deeply wary of this attack method.

These Neutron War Stars and White Dwarf War Stars also coordinated with one another, opening or closing their gravity shielding systems at certain frequencies and using these gravities to affect the surrounding space. In the end, they actually produced an effect similar to Xiao Yu’s spatial maze. Amid these distortions and transformations of space, the groups of Neutron War Stars and White Dwarf War Stars were like a pack of elusive ghosts.

Apart from space-related attacks, the extreme stellar body civilization had also developed direct collision, the simplest and most brutal method of attack, to its utmost extreme. Xiao Yu saw one Neutron War Star begin conventional acceleration while still in high-speed curvature flight. Upon arriving beside a Planet-Class warship of the space civilization, it abruptly withdrew from curvature space and then directly rammed into the interior of that Planet-Class warship at extremely high speed. Massive radiation energy, gravity, Spatial Starburst, radiation point-attack, and all kinds of spatial attack forms erupted all at once at that moment. This Planet-Class warship was almost instantly destroyed.

“As expected of a war-related civilization, the extreme stellar body civilization truly is very powerful.” Xiao Yu sighed inwardly. “This Level 7 space civilization cannot possibly be a match for the extreme stellar body civilization. Their defeat is only a matter of time.”

“You want to intervene?” the music civilization asked.

“Yes.” Xiao Yu said. “I saw traces of certain existences on this Level 7 space civilization, and those existences have extremely close connections to me. But I am not in a hurry to interfere in their struggle. I will first secretly capture one spaceship of this Level 7 space civilization and investigate a little before deciding what to do. After all, provoking a powerful enemy like an extreme stellar body civilization for no reason is not an interesting thing.”

The music civilization gave no reply. Xiao Yu then controlled his spy equipment and began moving covertly around the battlefield. Xiao Yu had already chosen a target. This target was a Town-Class small spaceship. The overly intense fighting had caused it, without realizing it, to separate from the main battlefield and the larger force and drift to the edge of the battlefield. It seemed to be trying to return to its main force, but it no longer had the chance.

Xiao Yu’s concealed force suddenly made its move, rapidly creating a spatial structure similar to a spatial maze and enveloping it inside. Then a message was transmitted out.

“Remain calm. Do not resist. We will guarantee your safety.”

At that very instant, the communication instruments of this small spaceship had already been completely destroyed by Xiao Yu. This eliminated any possibility of it contacting this space civilization. The loss of contact of a single small spaceship was probably not going to attract the notice of this space civilization. On such a massive battlefield, even Nation-Class and Continent-Class spaceships would not dare say how long they could survive. A Town-Class spaceship suddenly losing contact like this was simply too normal.

The sudden change in environment caused this small spaceship to panic immediately. It charged left and right inside the spatial maze, but like a fly trapped against a window, it could not escape no matter what it did. Xiao Yu paid it no further attention and instead directly brought it back, placing it inside one of his own Planet-Class battleships.

This Town-Class spaceship had already been stripped of all ability to move. Under Xiao Yu’s control, it slowly descended into a hall. A group of robots came forward, opened its hatch, and drove all the several dozen intelligent beings inside out of the ship.

These intelligent beings bore no resemblance whatsoever to the intelligent beings of the Divine Ark Civilization or the Pegasus Civilization. At the moment he saw these intelligent beings, Xiao Yu let out a disappointed sigh.

Although he had already known that this Level 7 space civilization was unlikely to be the Divine Ark Civilization or the Pegasus Civilization, when this last sliver of hope was shattered, Xiao Yu still felt a little disappointed.

“But no matter what, they definitely have some connection to the Divine Ark Civilization or the Pegasus Civilization. Through them, I may be able to learn something about what happened to the Divine Ark Civilization and the Pegasus Civilization after I left the Milky Way.” Xiao Yu thought silently.

After leaving the small spaceship they had arrived in, all of these intelligent beings displayed fear and panic. The several dozen intelligent beings descended into total chaos, shouting over one another, and some even began crying loudly. This made Xiao Yu frown inwardly.

One of them, apparently some sort of leader, shouted loudly and barely maintained order. Only after quite a while did the situation settle down. Xiao Yu had remained here the whole time, watching coldly, and had not hurried to interfere.

Only after basic order had been restored did this apparent leader raise his voice toward the robots in the empty hall and ask, “Who are you? Why have you captured us and brought us here? What do you want to do? Are you with these hateful invaders?”

Xiao Yu said calmly, “I have a few questions, and I need to find the answers from you. You should answer carefully, because your answers may concern the future fate of your civilization…”
