Chapter 273: For One's Sake |
Lilith's POV
"Get your hands off her." I heard Saishi's voice as Seryoku let go of my neck and I landed on the floor while coughing. I glanced at him, but there was something different about him. I could see it in his eyes, the latent rage behind those voids.
It was him, but not not him at the same time.
Saishi rushed towards him at a speed which wasn't human at all. He drove a punch into his stomach, but Asmodeus blocked it and spun around with a kick. Grabbing his heel, Saishi used his momentum to throw him towards the door.
Asmodeus sure was enjoying it.
He quickly charged towards him and punched Asmodeus, who evaded it, and proceeded to kick him on the side of his body. Saishi blocked his kick and hit his shin bone with his elbow as Asmodeus staggered back and smiled in surprise.
What was wrong with him?!
My eyes shifted towards his arm, and I noticed the glowing mark. I quickly switched to my mana vision and what appeared before my eyes simply put me in awe. It was Saishi's body with a huge mana output.
But he is going to break his body if kept doing this.
Saishi's moves were getting sluggish, and I had to defend him. Asmodeus will clearly kill him otherwise, and I can't let that happen at any cost. I quickly rushed towards him. Glancing at me, he jumped over Saishi and tried to drive a kick on my shoulder but I evaded and kicked him in the face as he was in midair with no medium of defending himself which made him fall on the ground like the little bitch he was.
(A/N: That last was completely unnecessary on Lilith's part, but she is frustrated. You guys feel her right?)
"How lovely. The Devil being protected by her little puppet." Asmodeus mocked me while sitting on the floor as Saishi replied in his cold voice, "I'm not her puppet."
Saishi was returning to his original self.
"Is that so? Because you clearly have been getting manipulated by her." He said and continued, "What is it that she is using to control a young boy like you?"
"Did her beauty capture your heart?"
"Unfortunately, I don't have a heart that can be captured." He replied and fell down on the floor while grabbing his arm as I slowly walked towards him. His eyes met mine, but he said nothing.
"Saishi… you're an interesting human." Asmodeus laughed and Saishi asked, "What makes you say that?"
"That power of yours seems to be connected to the contract yet you can use it freely at your will."
Asmodeus was as clever as I remember him.
"I don't…" As Saishi was about to say something, he flinched in pain. Asmodeus nodded and continued, "It seems like this power is still at an immature stage in your body. That's why you can't control it."
"Why are you telling me all this?" Saishi asked, even though I knew that he was struggling in pain trying to keep a straight face. Asmodeus glanced at me and chuckled, "Apparently your beloved Devil doesn't tell you these things, that's why."
"She has her reasons." Saishi replied instantly as I looked at him and Asmodeus' eye grew wide in surprise, "Oho Lilith, so you have told him about your curses?"
"She didn't, I figured it out."
"Then I've to say you're quite a unique presence."
"Saishi… what do you think about power?"
"What?"
"Don't listen to him, he is full of shit." I knew what Asmodeus was trying to do. He has always been like that. Ignoring me, he continued, "Anyways… you know how it feels to be powerful?"
"Power from what perspective?" Saishi asked, as Asmodeus thought for a moment and replied, "Power from power's perspective."
"Huh… I think it's great to be powerful. The feeling of superiority and absolute control is delightful."
"See… I knew you would be interested."
"You know I'm more powerful than your master here." He said while glancing at me as I just kept staring at Saishi who seemed to be confused, "Okay…"
"And I can grant you a lot of things."
"Oho… now we're talking. What kind of things?" I heard the excitement in his voice as I narrowed my eyes at him, but he just kept ignoring me.
Saishi was greedy, like any other human. I won't blame him if decides to abandon me.
"Of course, this one sided contract that she forced on you must've been a pain in the ass."
"It sure was." Saishi said and Asmodeus laughed, while saying, "You can change sides, and come with me. I'll make you more powerful than this woman ever could."
"But power won't be of much use to a mere human like me. I'll perish before even learning the full extent of those powers."
"That's true… but you'll be serving under the great Asmodeus."
"That's quite an attractive deal, but it's a bit suspicious."
"Why is that?"
"What do you have in that deal?" Saishi asked in an indifferent tone as Asmodeus narrowed his eyes and Saishi continued, "Nothing major. It appears like your only motive is to tear me apart from her."
"But why?"
"Quite a perceptive individual, huh?" He chuckled at Saishi.
"What do you want? Wasn't that enough already that you want to ruin my peace even now?!" I yelled at him as he just stared at me with his cold eyes and replied, "I don't want to ruin your peace."
"Clearly seems otherwise." I replied and charged towards him with killing intent. He probably sensed that as he quickly jumped back and glared at me.
I would kill him.
"Don't misunderstand my…" His words left unfinished as Saishi attacked him out of nowhere. Parrying his attack, Asmodeus turned towards me and cast a spell, one which drained my mana.
What is that idiot even doing?!
"As for your deal, I don't think I will be leaving her side any time soon."
They were exchanging moves at quite a high speed. Though Asmodeus wasn't in a mood to toy with Saishi anymore as he smirked in an instance and I became aware of the fact that I was going to lose Saishi.
I wanted to help him, but I was losing mana at such a rate that it was difficult for me to even move.
"You're annoying." Those were the words Asmodeus said before massacring Saishi into a
bloody pulp and I witnessed it happening right in front of my very own eyes.
"Saishi!"
Why did he go to such lengths?
He could just have saved himself.
Just for my sake…
