Chapter 272: I Needed to Save her |
"Who the fuck are you?"
"I go by many names, but you can call me…" He threw Lilith on the floor and glanced at me. There was a crimson glow in his eyes as I glanced at Lilith's body, hitting the floor with a noise.
I wanted to walk back, but it felt like my feet were frozen in fear. He was slowly walking towards me while smiling and he spoke out his name, "Asmodeus."
Asmodeus?
As he was slowly closing in on me, I could feel the intense pressure radiating just from his presence. His eyes were glowing in blood red colour, the same as Lilith's. Albeit, he was smiling. I could feel the malicious intent behind his smile.
Asmodeus was a devil from a well-known mythology as well. Even though I never tried to know about it in depth, I was well aware of its existence. Asmodeus was perceived as a ruthless and cynical lord of hell in some books.
"Asmo…" Before I could even speak his name out, I heard a loud noise, which made me flinch. I noticed Lilith was standing in a defensive stance before me. I glanced over to Seryoku and he had a plain look on his face.
"Get your hands off him!" Lilith said with much hostility in her voice, to which he just chuckled and replied, "As sharp as ever, huh?"
"Saishi, get the fuck out of here!" She ordered me and I could feel the concern in her voice. I did want to leave that place at that moment, but somehow my legs won't budge from their place.
"Saishi!" Lilith yelled out my name, and I found myself pushed down to the floor. My legs were numb and I could feel the cold sweat running down my spine. My hands were frozen still at their position.
I was going to die.
"Ho? Interesting." Seryoku said while blocking Lilith's kick with his left hand as he spun around and proceeded to drive a kick with her other leg into his face, but he pushed her away and stepped back.
His eyes again fell upon me, but I couldn't feel any killing intent in them. Even though I was sure at that point that one hit from him would result in my death. He again disappeared from my line of sight. I heard Lilith's concerned voice yell in frustration, "No!"
Seryoku was trying to kill me.
After working so hard for so many months, I was going to die being a plaything for a devil.
That's how much my life was valued?
"You're willing to go to such lengths just to save him?" He asked as his another attempt to attack me was interjected by Lilith, as she said in a bitter tone, "None of your business."
Both of them surely didn't share the friendliest relationship out there.
"As feisty as ever huh, Daughter of Divinus?" He chuckled, but it was only making Lilith more outrageous as she yelled, "Asmodeus!"
She threw a punch at him but it was a feint as she hooked him on the chest and followed it by a series of kicks, which was way too fast for my eyes to comprehend, but Seryoku was keeping up with her attacks by parrying them.
He appeared to be stronger than her.
"You can't beat me, at least with the condition your body is in right now."
"I never considered you a thr…" Before Lilith could finish her sentence, I heard a loud bang and everything in my room just scattered around from sheer shock waves.
"Oh, you will." Seryoku said in a calm voice as Lilith was down against the bed. Quickly getting up, she drove a jab towards him but he just kept evading her attacks, "I'm quite surprised to see that you've progressed so far with this ordeal."
"Already at Lust, huh?"
As those words left his mouth, I felt a stinging sensation starting to surge through my whole arm. I glanced at my left arm and noticed that the mark was glowing softly while making a strange blinking pattern.
"Last time, you couldn't even manage to get past one and right now you're already at your fourth one?" He laughed. It appeared like he was toying with her at that point, as Lilith's frustration was clear, "Why does it bother you? This is happening, all because of you!"
"You could say that, but I couldn't care less for a girl whose own family abandoned her."
As their fight was progressing, the stinging sensation was slowly changing into the usual excruciating pain I experience once in a while. I grabbed my left arm and clenched my jaw in pain.
It wasn't the right time for it.
"That's how close…" I could hear him finish the sentence as he staggered back from whatever attack Lilith did.
"Your moves are rusty yet you haven't lost your style." He chuckled while panting heavily and coughing up blood.
"By the way, I noticed Saishi being in pain for quite some time. Won't you help your precious asset?" I could clearly hear his voice, even though my senses were going everywhere at that moment.
"I can see that, but the only threat in this room is you and you're engaged with me, so he doesn't have to worry." She replied, but it appeared like her answer didn't excite Seryoku, "Your words and your heart don't align, Lilith."
"Huh?"
"Why are you lying?" He asked as I could hear them exchanging attacks. The sound of their attacks was ringing inside my head and it felt like my brain would explode from all the reverberation.
"Where is the real you?"
"You've grown soft over the years."
I could feel that Lilith was in danger. I could hear her voice struggling against the raw power of Seryoku.
I needed to help her.
"Where are you? SHOW ME!!?" As his voice was getting crazier, the pain in my arm was growing more and more immense, too. It left like my arm was burning from the inside.
Suddenly, everything went silent in the room.
Through my half-open eyes, I could see the silver hair flowing freely from the lifeless figure of Lilith, which was hanging still from Seryoku's grip as he was staring at her without uttering a single word.
I needed to save her.
"Hmm…" Before I could assess the situation, I found myself rushing towards Seryoku as my left arm curled into a punch aimed for his face but it was too slow as he grabbed it and chuckled while looking into my eyes, "What's this?"
"Get your hands off her." Was what echoed in my head even though I wasn't sure if I said anything at that moment or not.
My body wasn't under my control.
