Chapter 274: You Came in as the Light of my Life

Lilith's POV

"You're annoying." Followed by those bitter words were the absolute horror that I was scared off from the beginning.

Even though his body wasn't under his control, he was a mere human at the end of the day. The damage that was accumulating in his body would just eat him up from inside once this phase gets over.

Saishi threw a punch towards him but Asmodeus grabbed his arm and pulled Saishi towards him and holding his neck, he smashed his head into the ground with loud noise and blood splattered everywhere.

"Saishi!!"

Asmodeus let go of his head and glanced at me with his cold eyes.

I was losing him.

I was losing him.

Even with my broken body, I was crawling my way towards him. I could see his lifeless body on the floor, wrapped in blood everywhere. With my trembling hands, I picked his head up gently to look in his eyes, but it simply fell from hand.

Please, no!

I can't lose him. I can't lose him at this point. We have come a long way, and only a little bit remains.

Saishi, I need you!

"He was annoying me. Don't worry, I won't kill him so quickly." I heard Asmodeus' voice, as I glared at him and said, "I'll kill you."

"Ahh… I like that look in your eyes." He flinched for a moment, but then continued in his cocky voice, "Right now, kill me. I'm standing before you."

"What's the matter?"

"I was wrong. You've lost your edge, Lilith Divinus." He said while looking down at me as if I was trash. He started walking towards me as I yelled while embracing Saishi's body between my arms, "Don't come near!"

"How interesting…"

"You have business with me right? Then I suppose there is no need to drag a human between us."

"The human in question is already involved with you in atonement of your sins." His words carried more weight than he might've realised at that moment, as he said with contempt in his voice, "You're as selfish as I could remember."

Yes, it was all my fault.

I was well aware of it. That I was a selfish woman who was worse than trash.

Saishi was like that because of me.

"The atonement of my sins will come to an end when…" I was interrupted by him as he looked me in the eye and said in a soft voice, "I can't let your wish come true, Lilith."

Why?

Even though I didn't ask that question out loud, it was what resonated through my ears in the split moment.

Why won't he even allow my only wish to come true?

"I won't think twice before eliminating you if you come in my way."

"You can't defeat me, mostly because I know your weakness now." He said in a cold tone and left the room in a blink of an eye as I kept sitting there with Saishi in my arms at the brink of his death.

What was I supposed to do?

What did I ever do to deserve such treatment?

I was always an honest and sincere person. I always put others before me and tried to keep them happy. And in return, they treated me like I was a stranger and pelted me with stones at the first opportunity they got.

A life.

A life where one couldn't even desire for a simple wish.

Everyone I ever loved ended up straying further from me. At the end, I realised that there was no one for me except my cursed self. I wasn't alive anymore. I was simply existing in this plane of agony that just kept stinging me so much that I became numb to it at some point.

I have to save Saishi.

He is my only hope.

I had a bit of mana in myself so I could use it to heal him. I know what would happen to me if I ran out of mana, but luckily I couldn't die either way. If it was my usual self, then I would've died, but my circumstances were different.

This is the first time I was glad that I had a curse of immortality.

I turned his body around, only to notice his brutal injuries. I swayed my hand over his body and noticed that there were several broken bones and torn muscles. His body couldn't handle the fatigue from that power.

Human body wasn't meant to move to superhuman speed and strength. Since he surpassed that limit, his muscles went to their maximum extent to provide him with the strength and got destroyed in the process.

As for this smashed face, Asmodeus was as ruthless as ever. He didn't even hold back against a human. And on top of that, it wasn't like Saishi was willingly trying to fight him. His body wasn't under his control.

The fact that Saishi was still breathing was a huge feat.

He did all this just for my sake, I suppose. But the mere thought of it was unbelievable. He was just as ruthless and cynical as Asmodeus. They shared a lot of similarities, but then again, they were completely different.

'As for your deal, I wouldn't be leaving her side anytime soon.'

This is what he said, but was it really him speaking?

Was it his genuine thought?

I caressed his hairs for a while before placing both my hands over his chest and saying the incantation of healing magic. Though it wasn't actually healing magic. It was mostly that I was transferring my life energy to him.

I'll save you Saishi.

I didn't realise but tears were rolling down my cheeks. I don't know if it was from the sense of losing him, or just that I ended up hurting another innocent soul because of my own selfish needs.

You came in as a light in my accursed life and I don't plan to let you go so easily.
