Chapter 34: Release Testimonial

Hello everyone, I am Yiweixie.

After a month, the day has finally come for this book to be released on the premium shelf. Following the usual custom, I should say a few words. This book is no exception, so let us have a little chat.

After finishing my last book, I originally intended to write a story with a cyberpunk background. However, taking the audience into account, my editor advised me to change to another category, and I eventually dropped the idea.

As it happens, I also wanted to try writing a lighter, more interesting style without any tragedy or heavy content, so I ultimately chose this romance novel that leans towards a Japanese anime style.

The general background of this book comes from a previous work of mine that I had to drop due to health issues. However, both the story and the character personas have been completely overhauled, turning it into something entirely different.

Ultimately, the fundamental inspiration for this story actually came from the Japanese anime "Kaguya-sama: Love Is War."

I am very fond of its concept that "Love is War," which perfectly aligns with the main plot of this book: the male protagonist Yan Huan engaging in psychological battles, confrontations, and romance with the various female leads who possess Modifiers.

Romantic mind games have actually been featured in many works aside from "Kaguya-sama." Even adding the element of a Cheat is not uncommon on Qidian, which is why I introduced the concept of an "eccentric Cheat."

If the female leads possess the kind of dangerous Cheats found in Japanese anime, it would undoubtedly make the battles the male protagonist faces far more perilous and fascinating. I really like this aspect.

Therefore, as the male protagonist targeted by these Modifiers, he absolutely must have extraordinary appeal: excellent looks, a good personality, and a healthy physique.

It is easy to understand if you think about it in reverse. If the female lead in an anime was ugly and had a repulsive personality, as the male protagonist, you probably would not even have the Desire to use a Modifier on her, right?

Furthermore, I did not really want to set up scenes where the male and female leads blast each other with Cheat magic, so I weakened the male protagonist''s Cheat.

While it might be interesting to see the female leads fight like that in a messy love triangle, having the male and female leads do so would only reduce the danger of their psychological battles and decrease the female leads'' opportunities to go on the offensive.

But this does not mean the female leads can attack without a care in the world.

In these romantic battles, Yan Huan possesses a terrifying Ability, so much so that a single female lead must rely on a Modifier just to barely contend with him.

Overall, the female leads with their Modifiers hold the advantage, while Yan Huan, currently on the defensive, is slightly weaker.

This dynamic will slowly change alongside the evolving feelings between the male and female leads, the progression of the Modifiers, and the inevitable love triangles.

As for the female leads on the offensive, I still need to emphasize that their personalities are flawed, and the Modifiers will undoubtedly magnify those flaws.

I do not really want to write about five flawless, completely obedient female leads, only to have them wield Modifiers and turn the psychological battles into some kind of bizarre kink.

The five Modifiers are also not hacks or Cheats in the traditional sense. They are five types of "sins"—the abnormal Desires harbored by the five female leads.

I have established strict backgrounds and settings for all the Modifiers, but I will not spell them out directly. Instead, they will be revealed little by little through the plot.

Attributes, relative strengths, personalities, counter-relationships, and so on.

Aside from these interesting concepts, it is time to talk about the romantic subplots.

Unlike my last book, which focused on a single female lead route, this one takes a multi-route approach.

The advantage is that the romantic progress between the male protagonist and the various female leads will not differ too drastically; rather, relationships will be slowly cultivated together.

It is quite thrilling, creating a sense of rising and falling action, and I will also insert some interesting "daily life and interludes" as transitions. The downside is that individual female lead storylines might feel somewhat fragmented.

Therefore, I will sometimes write a dedicated route for a specific female lead, as well as major events encompassing a lot of content, to establish key milestones.

That roughly covers the design and future plans for this book.

Actually, in my opinion, a release testimonial is better suited for giving a little advance notice regarding the upcoming premium content, rather than just being a place for the author to ramble and vent their feelings.

The longer I write, the more I realize that I will never be able to satisfy every reader.

Whether it is the writing style, character personas, or the plot, there are usually just as many people who dislike it as those who like it.

There is nothing to be done about that. I do not consider myself skilled enough yet to gain the approval of the vast majority.

So, to prevent you all from spending your money unjustly, I have already introduced all the female leads in the first thirty-three chapters. My Writing style, phrasing, and pacing are all woven within them, allowing you to understand this book as much as possible.

At the same time, I have also explained the "daily life," the "male protagonist''s Cheat," and the "flawed female lead personas" above. I hope everyone can read through this carefully before deciding to subscribe.

Next is the topic of updates.

Actually, most of the time the chapters are already written, but I have a habit of reviewing and revising the manuscript after finishing it.

Sometimes, I end up completely dissatisfied after writing and have to do a major overhaul, only to get stuck during the revision process.

Such situations are quite common, like last night and a few days ago, which is why I sometimes keep you all waiting.

This story will be very long, and I do not plan on writing a short piece. Regardless, I will not drop it; I will see it through to the end.

Tomorrow there will be a twenty-thousand-word update, followed by five to six thousand words daily. When encountering crucial plot points, I will write very long chapters, just like Chapter 14.

Readers of my last book should know that I sometimes write massive chapters exceeding ten thousand words. I basically divide the chapters based on the flow of the plot.

In short, I will work hard to write after the premium release.

Then, I still hope that those of you who are able will support the official release. This is very important to me.

I also hope to see your comments in the chapter discussions. I actually quite enjoy reading comments when I have free time; I basically read all of yours.

Later on, I will create a VIP group with an entry requirement for those who have fully subscribed. I will post some side stories and such in there, no different from my last book. I will set it up once I have written a bit more.

Alright everyone, that is all the rambling I have for now. Thank you for listening up to this point.

I will start uploading chapters after noon tomorrow, continuing into the evening. Please look forward to it!
