Zatiel gathered all the bandits in the center of the camp, even bringing in the lookouts who had been thrown outside.

All the bandits lay unconscious. Despite most being severely injured and some missing limbs, every single one of them remained alive.

Once they were assembled, Zatiel retrieved a jar from the captain's tent and, with his sword, cut his arm, filling the jar with his blood. When there were approximately 10 liters of blood in the jar, he ceased and sat down to rest.

A typical person has around 6 to 7 liters of blood, and losing a fifth of that could be fatal. However, with his Physique of almost 3 points, Zatiel only felt extreme fatigue and weakness.

As Zatiel rested, he sensed someone approaching.

"So, you're strong enough to walk already. Good."

The person approaching was a little boy with a missing hand and eye. This was Ezequiel, whose body had healed enough to move. The potion Zatiel gave him was potent enough to heal a Warrior, and since stronger individuals require more energy to heal, the vice versa also applies.

While Ezequiel observed Zatiel and the large amount of blood beside him, he was initially startled, but he quickly calmed down.

'I shouldn't attempt to understand a monster like him, at least not yet.'

Ezequiel averted his gaze from Zatiel and focused on the bandits. However, as he did, confusion set in. Despite his excellent control over body language as an assassin, he couldn't hope to deceive Zatiel.

"You're wondering why I didn't kill them," Zatiel remarked, as if reading the boy's thoughts.

Ezequiel could only nod, acknowledging that he couldn't hide anything from his new master.

"They serve a purpose, and you will soon find out what it is," Zatiel declared, a momentary coldness appearing in his eyes as he looked at the bandits.

"Anyway, you are now my subordinate. I have a few questions. First, let's introduce ourselves. I am Zatiel. What is your name?"

    "Ezequiel."

"The second question, since we are leaving this place soon, do you have a loved one to find or someone you need to ensure is safe?"

    "No."

Ezequiel was surprised by the question but answered without much thought. His past as a slave taught him that caring for someone only put them in danger.

"Alright, that's all," Zatiel said casually.

Ezequiel was taken aback. After all, who would have a subordinate with a past about which you know nothing?

"Master, I..." Ezequiel began, but Zatiel raised his hand to stop him.

"I don't care about your past. Since you decided to become my subordinate, your life started over. All I need from you is your loyalty. As long as I have it, I will always be there to help you. But remember one thing..." Zatiel paused, looking into the boy's eye with a chilling intensity.

The pressure was suffocating. Ezequiel felt as if he stood before a nightmarish lifeform that could consume him at any moment. If not for his incredible will, he might have blacked out. Even so, he couldn't stop himself from kneeling.

"Never betray me. If you even think of it, I will know, and you will never experience the sweet release of death."

After Zatiel stopped speaking, the pressure vanished.

Ezequiel's reaction was understandable. Placed before a tiger, even if it doesn't attack, the generated pressure can terrify a man. Zatiel, though no longer a powerful being, retained the years of slaughter.

Ezequiel slowly stood up and looked at Zatiel. When his breath normalized, he knelt on one knee.

"I have chosen to follow you, and I will never regret the decisions I made in my life." Determination radiated from his eye as he spoke.

While words of eternal loyalty were often insincere, Zatiel, with his knowledge, saw that the boy spoke with absolute resolution from his soul.

"Hahaha, I didn't make a mistake with you! Since Ezequiel is a bit long, I will call you little EZ," Zatiel laughed, a trace of warmth in his eyes.

'This feeling is not bad at all.' Zatiel, as an Abyss Lord, had millions of underlings, all of whom would betray him for profit. Having someone genuinely loyal was a feeling he hadn't experienced in a very long time.

Although Ezequiel felt awkward about the childish nickname, a small smile appeared on his face.

After hours of rest, Zatiel was in his peak condition and ready to begin the ritual.

"Okay, little EZ, what I am about to do is very complex and incredibly dangerous for normal people. I now need you to back out 1000 meters, and no matter what, you can't, under any circumstances, come closer before I call you," Zatiel said with a serious face.

Ezequiel saw the importance and delicacy of the situation, so he immediately moved away.

With Ezequiel at a safe distance, Zatiel picked up the jar and started inscribing weird symbols made of his blood on the ground surrounding the bandits.

Oddly, although every movement was skillful, Zatiel never looked directly at the symbols.

'I have to be careful. If I see these abyss runes directly with my weakened soul, blacking out will be the best scenario.'

Runes are the language of the laws, a way of using the energy of the universe. They are symbols that, when arranged correctly with the right material, can produce unimaginable effects. They are complex and full of variations. Understanding and activating them before reaching sufficient power is a dream.

A rune inscribed on a weapon like a sword can enhance its sharpness or give it the ability to produce flames with the right energy source. Placing runes in a person's body can grant incredible abilities.

High-level rune knowledge is challenging to acquire, held closely by powerful groups. What Zatiel was drawing was a set of runes to communicate and make a direct sacrifice to the Abyss!

This was one of the two crucial pieces of information from the first set of memories.

To make runes work, two core things are required: the right materials to make the rune and the energy source to activate them.

For this rune, the material needed is blood tainted with the Abyss Aura. Although Zatiel is no longer a demon, his True Soul always carries the Abyss Aura from his second life.

The challenging part is the energy source. Fortunately, the Abyss, being a plane that takes any chaotic and evil soul, easily fulfills the second requirement. Zatiel activates the secondary runes, creating a chaotic state of mind in the life forms inside the array, making the bandits kill each other. Although the sub-array consumes energy, his current Spirit Force is barely enough.

Without wasting time, Zatiel activates the sub-array runes, his face pales, and he almost faints from extreme spirit force depletion.

A portion of the runes starts to activate, casting a red glow over the bandits. After a moment, they wake up with completely red eyes, immediately attacking each other.

They attack ruthlessly, using any means to dismember each other.

After a few minutes, almost all of them are dead. Even the captain is left with only half of his face and is on his last breath.

As the last bandit dies, the remaining runes activate, and immense pressure descends on the camp. It induces a chaotic state that can turn anyone into a killing machine if their will is weak. Even Zatiel struggles to stay calm.

'So he finally arrives,' Zatiel thinks with a solemn expression.

The entity Zatiel is sacrificing the souls to is not a demon. Dealing with demons is one of the most foolish things one can do. Getting even a tenth of the worth of your sacrifice is a miracle, and most of the time, the demon will kill you and take everything for itself.

Zatiel is communicating with the consciousness of the Abyss itself.

Every Plane or World develops a consciousness over time. While often basic, some are incredibly complex, even achieving self-consciousness.

Although the Abyss is immense, its consciousness is basic. It makes for a perfect trading partner. Only someone with Zatiel's knowledge can communicate with the Abyss's consciousness before being strong enough.

As the Abyss's consciousness takes the souls, Zatiel uses the runes to communicate his desires. Although a hundred or so mortals are insignificant, what Zatiel needs is something the Abyss can spare—the Abyss Aura, of the highest quality from the deepest part.

The bodies of the bandits melt, creating a black liquid gathering in the center of the array. When the bodies vanish, a 1-meter orb in diameter remains. It is so dark that it seems to consume all light, and everything around it begins to decay, including the ground. Abyss Aura is the energy source for demons but poison to any other life-form.

Zatiel can't help but feel excited as he sees the concentrated Abyss Aura.

'Finally! It is time for the most powerful life-form to be born!'

It's probably like 1/10000000000000 if not less than that of the full will of the plane and it's a sacrifice towards the plane. The runes and his abyssal aura allowed him to communicate with it directly.

      Mention in this chapter

Abyss doesn't have self conscious. It's just like automated intelligence which will react accordingly to input i.e. runes. So MC just used runes to activate that intelligence and used bandits as medium for exchange.

But once again it's true that not anyone can communicate with plane but MC happens to be exceptional due to his previous life.
