Emperor's Domination帝霸

There was a period when I was exasperated by it, ready to drop it. Normally for a cultivation story, you would think it would be about a character growing in strength as they progress through levels. That is what I thought too but I couldn't be more wrong. Let me give you all advice I wish I had gotten when I started.

Ignore cultivation levels entirely!

When I started this novel I thought it would be a nice relaxing, if long, power trip. Nothing to think deeply about and something that would be some dumb fun. It is that but it is so much more as well, even if it has some issues. My biggest gripe would be that whenever Li Qiye (the MC) travels to a new place for some reason or another his cultivation resets and leads people to underestimate him which leads to some sort of s*upid conflict and eventually he shows his badassatude by casually slaughtering tons of people. By the fourth time, his cultivation is reset at about 2000 chapters in I was ready to drop it. There was no tension in fights and the author's overly flowery writing made it all but incomprehensible. He's so overly prosaic with his writing that fighting in chapter 500 uses the same description as in 4000. This is the second point one should be aware of:

Li Qiye wins! Period!

At no point in the 4000+ chapters has he been anything more than annoyed by fights. No matter his power level, he wins. Either through trickery, OP items, reputation, or connections, he is never even inconvenienced by his opponents. It makes sense in a way, at the start of the novel he is already millions if not billions of years old. One does not live that long without building up knowledge and resources that most cannot even imagine. But it does lead to a lack of tension.

Now, you might be wondering, why is the story good if the writing is over the top, the fights are boring and there is no tension? Simple, the third and most important point to be aware of is this:

While Li Qiye is the main character, the World is the protagonist!

Because Li Qiye is so OP and his story don't have tension, we turn to the world around him. And what a world! Whether by accident or intention, the author has managed to make the very first (that I have found) wuxia/xianxia/xuanhaun world that I feel actually reflects how a world with crazy strong people with super long lives would actually be like. For good and bad. At the start of the story, we know the world is old by the fact that one of the disciples of the main character (someone who supremely influenced the world) has been dead for hundreds of thousands of years and the sect he left behind is well past its prime and in decline.

This takes repetitive to a whole new level.

Some people complain about the same arc being used in a similar ways just with different characters, places, etc.
Oh brother wait til they see this one. We got the same story. Multiple times. Its nuts that this is still going.

For me, in my opinion, this should have ended or fight the villainous heaven because bruuh, HE IS FVCKING MAX LEVEL ALREADY, FULL OF LEGENDARY GEAR, WEAPON AND STUFF, MASTER THE DAO, BECAME A EPOCH OVERLORD, AND PERFECTION. But what happen next? FVCKKK HERO TO ZERO REAL QUICK DUDE! GOING BACK TO LEVEL 1 THEN BULLY AND PRETEND TO BE A FAT SHEEP EVEN IF YOU'RE A WOLF?!? THE HELL BRUUH. And well like all comments said, its always reapeting. The same scenario, same op weapon, same provoking. Haizzz

And i dropped this. Why? Because its repetitive. Example:

I like how the story is going on except for the fillers. But after reading so many other novels, it feels quite weird to see the old men and people of the sect not reacting to a thirteen year old kid acting all mysterious and pompous. Their reactions do seem a bit lacklustre though.
If it were any other novel, it would have gone like
“Arrogant. How dare an ant like you speak like this. Let me see how long you can jump up and down.
[Edit 5: it does turn out that way in later chapters. But there is just too much face slapping. I liked the pace till 2000+ but thats it]

Edit 1: It gets better as it goes on, but it’s just too long

Edit 2: And whats up with the pictures at the end of chapters around 389

Edit 3: The repeated sentences at the end of each chapter around 700-800+ is starting to get annoying (Im starting to like the world building and the realms of progression)

Edit 4: I am currently around chapter 2000 and find that some things are so obvious but people fail to think about that. It is so frustrating. The act like they don’t know shit and when the moment comes, they are like ooh so he is that great person.

Edit 6: Currently at 2500+

Edit 7: I am currently at 2928 and feel that the characters are spewing so much bullshit. The same information is repeated sometimes , in two consecutive chapters .

Took 2500 for 3 years. That's lot of filler. Do correct me if there is some slowing time or something like that.

I read this till chapter 3,500. I typically don’t read harem (I’m just one of those people), in fact, I didn’t even notice the tag at first. However, imo, the harem part of this can be pretty easily ignored if you don’t like stuff. That being said, the novel is pretty great! The only issues I found was that it sometimes feels a bit stretched out (feels like filler) and is a bit repetitive. Luckily skipping those parts won’t really affect much. Also it can be hard to follow at times, but the overall story won’t be too affected by this. The last problem I noticed is that there are just too many names for me to remember. 8/10

The author is a sadist, enough said.

Oh and there are piles upon piles of filler. Here people may embellish them as foreshadowing or world building but for me, information about matters that become inconsequential in some 10-30 chapters are anything but.

The novel largely deals with young masters, geniuses (i must say, this is the most common word in it), beauties, masters and ancestors.

This is a story about an arrogant emperor billions of years old, who goes around playing with toddlers and decimating "foes" that are unfortunate enough to mock him. And believe me at least quarter of the meaningful chapters are dedicated to mocking.
