      Bro, there's so many chinese novels with that settings, it's just that they use magic cultivation. Qi cultivation and medieval setting doesn't exist in china because it wouldn't exist irl. Also, it's a chinese novel, why would they use EUROPEAN names? But since you asked, I'll still give you a novel that kinda fits your wants, just that mc uses magic: Witcher, I can extract everything

          Supreme Magus is one. I've forgotten but The Storm King (over on RoyalRoad) should be another, dunno if it's published here as well. Versatile Mage, I remember this to be fictional Earth, it's not western but I remember it being pretty modern. Release that Witch is not cultivation, but it's isekai set in a medieval era. Lord of the Mysteries is very broad strokes cultivation but it's pretty much its own thing. Set in Victorian era, starts slow but it gets f#cking going when it does get going.

          I think there should be more but I'm not sure if you'd be interested in them.

    So up to chapter 72 and does this marriage stay? It has completely turned me off of the story and I cba if he does. Like the title said he was essentially sold like a slave. I guess he is a slave now but does he escape or change this? Because for all the so-called strength he has he is kinda pathetic. Does this change at all? Cause will drop if not. Appreciate the help!

    The MC never faces set-backs (as of where I've reached in the story) and acts in an overly face-slapping manner. In these types of stories where the MC is just handed OP stats, I rather like it when they're more on the reserved / cautious side. This guy acts like a default pointlessly cocky and arrogant xianxia protagonist, but doesn't have that initial struggle those chararcters always have.

    It's an alright novel to read if you're bored, but if you're actually interested in reading a good story I wouldn't recommend it at all.

      To be fair, even if he is the baseline for Xianxia protag, not many others are as baseline as him...you know? Like, Chu is when you stick to the basics and go all the way with it, which makes it pretty unique in my opinion

    MCs enemies are all dumb. they all think that they are more powerful than the mc knowing that the mc could defeat and kill someone that they couldn't even scratch in a battle because of the gap between cultivation base. therefore they keep provoking the mc just to feed their ego. and when they got beaten. they would curse and swear as if they have been wronged. if thats not stupidity. the what is.

    it would have been good if the enemies are good at plotting something and coming up with smart way to outsmart him of or even give the mc some difficulty . but they are simply there to show how strong mc is.


    it was good at first arc 2nd 3rd.but as it's been repeatedly been used by the author as mostly authors do now a days. it becomes boring to the point of skipping chapters.

    much better if the mc would faces someone who could make him take a seat back. someone who is smart, cunning and ruthless.

    first 1000 is fine but as the story progress, it became less and less appealing for me as a reader. this from reading the raw. so if you don't want to be disappointed. just read upto 1000 chapter or less
