My one word review of this novel is that it is “boring”. It makes the same mistake as most of the other sign in novels in that it has the mc become a recluse without having any other plot point to compensate for it. This results in extremely boring arcs where the mc comes in at the last moment and solves everything with a single strike. MC also does nothing else other than cultivation. MC is not in a sect, so there are no senior brothers and sisters to at least provide some variety in the scenarios.

The only good sign novels that i have read are top tier providence and the turquoise pond one. Top tier providence has mc’s disciples to provide for entertaining scenarios despite mc being a super recluse. Mc also gets long range attacks which makes it possible for him to interfere from his adobe. So he is a recluse but is also proactive. There are also a lot of well thought out scenarios which make the novel a very good read. Turquoise pond has an mc who unlike Han jue doesn’t interact with others all too much. But there is a very well written romance and a few good side characters to keep the novel interesting throughout. This novel doesn’t have any sort of compensating plot points. The scenarios are boring royal politics where people are randomly rebelling or trying to assassinate the king or starting a war for no reason and so on. It’s extremely dry, you don’t even care for these kings and queens so we don’t even care if the mc intervenes or not. There is almost zero comedy. MC becomes pretentious after becoming strong, he doesn’t do anything other than cultivation.
