John Browning, a former underworld assassin, went to attend his friend Angele’s wedding party but ended up meeting his former colleagues. Before he could think that the whole wedding ceremony was a setup to catch him, he felt dizzy all of a sudden!

    I'll second the guy who compared it to Lord of the Mysteries. This is its knock off edition. The plot itself is not directly copied but all of it is vaguely reminiscent of the way Lord of the Mysteries did it, only worse. Doesn't make this a bad novel per say, the pacing/progression is faster, and there's a system if you're in for that sort of thing. But overall, If you read Fire Mage and liked it go read Lord of the Mysteries, but the reverse is not true.

    In my point of view, this like the inferior version of Lord of Mysteries with an rpg touch. The mc is in the border of paranoia and cunning. The way the author dumps info is not too smart and often over explains conspiracies through villain or side characters own mouth making them like a low budget movie kind of villain. The conspiracies are too complicated in a mystics kind of complicated.

      After 80+ chapter, the mc gets smarter and the conspiracies becomes more intricate. After mc gets a skill to read/erase memories, unfolding plots becomes more refined. The mc himself can already set up schemes. The mc gets a breather and room for growth, he controls the pace (slightly).

    Dropped. The novel isn't really good. Rated it at 3/10.
    It was quite promising at first. But after a few chapters, it got annoying. The author doesn't even know what 'fire' is. And he constantly portrays the MC to be some kind of cool magician. I didn't mind it at first but lately it did not flow naturally. Somehow, it looked 'forced'. Like the MC pulls something out of thin air without explanation.
    I dropped the novel when the MC picks stupid fire spells. Fire wings? Can you form fire to fly? Fire jump? wtf is that?!
    It's FIRE. There should be fireballs, dammit. It got me triggered that the author doesn't even show the essence of a Fire Mage. When the title is 'Fire Mage'.
    Anyway, that's just me venting my frustration gloom

        Good point. Your comment made me realize something.
        I think that this novel should be okay for fledgeling readers. Readers who haven't read novels like City of Sin or readers who don't apply physics and logic in novels. I don't usually apply logic in stories since that's not a good thing to do. But since I've been to novels that potray fireballs as the ultimate fire spell, it made me judge the author's choices.
        Just sharing my thoughts.

                  It was great for me , i really liked it's power system , it's robust and with rules in place.
                  Story is also nice but i also believe it can seem rather slow compared with newer novels , i never felt he was a slave to destiny even when there is a
                  .

                  You can give it a try , the start is a lot of fun I'd say , and yes i did skip chapters that were not mc pov or meaningful to the story overall .
