John Browning, a former underworld assassin, went to attend his friend Angele’s wedding party but ended up meeting his former colleagues. Before he could think that the whole wedding ceremony was a setup to catch him, he felt dizzy all of a sudden!

    MC performs best when hidden as he is good at tricking, doing indirect plays and when he has information but he was a pawn in the starting arcs for higher powers " which jumped out of the chess board " later

    No idiot villains here . All antagonists are either master manipulators, smart , wise etc. Anything but stupid . They play their cards right most of the time and the MC have hard time dealing with a lot of them but his main purpose is to keep getting stronger and he gets there

        nope, mc is played like a weak fool until the end of the first arc, but the writing quantity and story quality get better after ch 40 or 50. but he does gain broken spells and as his inclination is more towards trickster, spy and disguiser as long as he is in the light (in the open) he can't perform at his max.

    Why? Why??!! Why do people release all these supposed “translated” novels with so much errors it’s so annoying and irritating it just throws me the damn hell off. It’s like I’m trying to read a hybrid of 60% translation and 40% mtl it’s just annoying why can’t authors just get an editor or even grammar or something everyone wants to write now and even when the story is good like this one the grammar and errors can almost give one a headache.       If you can ignore the "CAN I ABLE TO" questions, it's a good and fresh novel.

      MC's not a simp, he's cold and heartless and, he is also focused enough to carefully plan things.
      And as the previous comments say, the plot feels like a bottled version of LOTM, still, better than most webnovels.

      One more caveat would be the over-explaining of villian's scheme. But that's easy to ignore.

        it feels like LOTM wannabe at the beginning and the roughness of the starting chaps doesn't help. but it becomes its own thing afterward (its a good read if you bare with the rough start)

    Some say this story starts off rough but gets better. When, exactly?

    I'm on chapter 15, and it hasn't gotten better. Only worse. Story seems good, but the writing/grammar is just... horrible. Almost at the level of machine translated horrible.

    To every new reader, please read this before you start the novel.

    The first few chapters are very disappointing and read like a child wrote it, especially the execution arc after the mayhem but please stick with it until chapter 30+. Later chapters feels like it was written by totally new author and you can ignore the first arc as filler.


    This novel have one of the most realistic magical world building, Villains are far smarter than any average person and you can see how scheming those old monsters can be instead of other CN with "coughing blood" and "courting death".

    Weak gets manipulated by strong and it's 'almost' impossible to oppose them when your opponents can literally see the future, read your thoughts, plant false memory make you believe what they say or other form of mental manipualtion. Sometimes it's even hard to know if what you do it your own choice or someone is manipuating you. There is no one fix all metal shield like other books so every action is adventure and battle of wit against someone stronger and smarter.
