Jin, a hardcore gamer who still lives with his mom at the age of 24. He could never hold down a steady job since graduating, his girlfriend since high school dumped him for his best friend and he's constantly getting beat up by a group of local gang members.

His dad left him and his mom when he became rich from the lottery and got a new family, one free of debt and burdens as he called it. His mom works 3 jobs to keep everything from falling apart, except for herself slowly. One day on his way home with the very first and new fully immersive VRMMORPG called Realm of Myths and Legends or RML for short, he died from a hit and run car accident.

RML was advertised as the worlds first fully immersive VRMMORPG, allowing for players with skill sets in the real world, like sword training, martial arts, archery or reaction time, to benefit in the game itself! Though Jin died and at that moment a soul from another world crossed over into his body and inherited his memories.

The man known as Izroth once hailed as the greatest cultivator in the seven realms, soul reincarnates into the modern world year 20xx in the body of Jin. Collapse

A typical isekai novel where a powerful cultivator dies, and reincarnates into the modern world with barely and QI to cultivate. His goal is to rise above everybody, and that is through the VMMORPG that his body Jin wanted to do before he was killed.

Story is very engaging, and with plot armour making him the strongest of his class. I won't get into it as it does involve spoilers. It does get every engaging for us as we get into this story to take down everybody, and while he's at it offend everybody. As the story progresses, we find that the game is more mysteries that we thought. Most of the plot is set in the game, and once in a blue moon the real world. Updates are sporadic and not consistent.

I really like this story and i still enjoy it, however while its set in a game the players dont really act or talk like players they all talk like cultivators (atleast the top players and basically anyone given screentime) its just weird having gamers talking using super philosophical and flowery language to just say thanks or some other simple things.

This falls into a very common trap in virtual world novels .
During the whole virtual world arcs the novel becomes boring as f#ck for 80% of the times.
There are no high stakes to be bet, during the whole virtual world arc.
Who cares if you live or die, if you just loose some xp or get any form of punishement that just as quickly goes away??
The whole virtual world thingy is about quests mostly, then there is some player fighting, and also some scheming against other guilds and enemys of the MC.

But its just unsatisfactory as f#ck .
One other novel similar to this is "Samsara Online" . The virtual world arcs there are also very boring.
In both novels i skipped about 70% of the content during VR arcs and i feel like i can keep up with the story just fine. Its like i skipped useless chapters.
This was even more so during this novel though.

Also the MC is very strong in this novel, actually the strongest so far amongst players and in what has been shown in the real world, but it always feels like author is downplaying his strength.
I mean he is literally a thousands of years old monster from a cultivation world, also the strongest in the whole cultivation world, and when he goes to earth he just doesnt outright one slap everyone??? How can some 20years old horny teenagers, be almost the same level as our MC in the game??? And sometimes he even needs a lot of effort to defeat them as well....

    So here is my conclusion.
Virtual World is about 600/650 chapters of the novel. I rate the virtual world arcs 2/5. And thats generous.
Real world which is 50/650 chapters, is 10x times more interesting than the VR arcs.

VR novels are one of my fav genre.
Unfortunately to date, i have mostly encountered mediocre VR novels like this one.
Whats the point of the whole VR arc which takes up to 95% of the novel, when all he is winning from the VR is some peanut money?

For example have you read or heard of ROTSSG?? Or Supremacy Games??

There being the best at the VR world, grands one unrivaled fame, prestige, money, strength, and even more....
What does the VR world in this novel grand the players other than peanut money?? Nothing!
Whats the point then, of reading 600 chapters of novel where the MC gains absolutely nothing other than some money and a bit of fame?

        Personally i dont know.

Yes i have read those. If every novel was like them then wouldn't that become boring and cliche? Personally i like the change of pace. Also i think you forget the main reason for vr games to exist, It's for FUN not money. Is he playing for money, no he isn't. Sure it helps but he would do other things if he really needed money.

I haven't read this novel (Realm of myths and legends), however I had read ROTSSG, and I can say: it's not good.

ROTSSG is the same plot over and over again to the point that you know exactly what X secondary character would say in the end of the arc (So, this is zero wing power?).

I won't say is good because in some part at the middle of the novel it became "meh, let's grind levels" for some time until the story goes back to progress, but I really like reading Legendary Moonlight Sculptor.

As for Supremacy Games, I had never read it, so I can't say if it will be like it.

I see, Moonlight sculptor is already on my list, also i suggest you read supremacy games, it's really a fun novel to read, the protagonist is also pragmatic which is quite nice imo

Read overgeared bro, it's really popular at https://www.wuxiaworld.com/

Some say the beginning 100 chapters is unbearable, but i liked it from the start and it gets better at later chapters, if you're unconvinced you can read the reviews at the same site, it gets generaly favourable reviews, 89% positive currently of 482 reviews

The second coming of gluttony is also very good, but it's not VR, it's just LN with game element.

Supremacy Games is not like other game vr novels. I feel Dark Net is more similar than them.
