Jin, a hardcore gamer who still lives with his mom at the age of 24. He could never hold down a steady job since graduating, his girlfriend since high school dumped him for his best friend and he's constantly getting beat up by a group of local gang members.

His dad left him and his mom when he became rich from the lottery and got a new family, one free of debt and burdens as he called it. His mom works 3 jobs to keep everything from falling apart, except for herself slowly. One day on his way home with the very first and new fully immersive VRMMORPG called Realm of Myths and Legends or RML for short, he died from a hit and run car accident.

RML was advertised as the worlds first fully immersive VRMMORPG, allowing for players with skill sets in the real world, like sword training, martial arts, archery or reaction time, to benefit in the game itself! Though Jin died and at that moment a soul from another world crossed over into his body and inherited his memories.

The man known as Izroth once hailed as the greatest cultivator in the seven realms, soul reincarnates into the modern world year 20xx in the body of Jin. Collapse

quality-wise, it's a good novel. unfortunately it has quite possibly the worst pacing i've ever seen, and that just about kills all of its beneficial qualities.
if you have nothing else to do and can sit through 20-chapter long fights (yes, FIGHTS. now imagine how long the arcs take lmao) and random 3-month hiatuses then give it a read. otherwise, don't bother with it.

It was a good novel and i genuinely liked it but due to these one month long breaks between chapters i even forgot the plot and also the fact that author has completely forgotten about that there is a real world outside the game world which is also as important as game world leaves me with no choice to drop it for once for all sigh

Have read till like 100 chapter.
The plot isn't really interesting so far. Mostly there's just the game-stuff happening. Lots of combat log description, raiding, teammates with their skill descriptions and whatsoever else do exist. MC isn't really a loner - shares quests to the others, even the highest rarity-class ones. Sometimes does stupid things like allowing a shady girl following and spying on him while not just getting rid of her and her thugs. The group action starts on his first day of the game, PK as well.

The idea about the competition is quite true in this story. MC's striving after the best-player title for himself. All those guilds, in-game gangsters who are wishing to get whatever they want, considering the background of the supposed prey, of course.

The MC is somewhat hard to be described. He can feel a person well, as well as their lies. He's quite ruthless. Overall he's of the serious-type. But in the end the side-characters take up the emotional stage while leaving the MC with a feel of semi-existance. Maybe that can be said as stable, mature, but nonetheless "boring" character. Still pretty realistic.

His mother has like 2-3 chapters of screen-time so far. A nice woman indeed. Would've liked a bigger focus on her - some family routine. Mostly the characters feel pretty bland (or maybe it's just me) so it's a loss to not have more of her in the story. She feels seriously more attractive than the other female chars in this story so far.

Overall I'm dropping this due to having low interest as the combat logs, mob fighting, gaming world' main storyline and group activities of that caliber don't feel particularly fun. Wanted to stop far-far earlier, but kept struggling. The story doesn't feel like really alive/living. Maybe later it becomes better, idk.

There is hints of it here and there but it’s extremely slow and doesn’t really interfere with the main plot like at all.

          Objectively, none.
Subjectively, whatever genre the author chooses.

not as readers. I doubt as author since they have free reign.

I have no idea what "I doubt as author" means. And I gave my opinion as a reader, which contradicts your first statement.

you gave your opinion of what you think author needs, even if you are a reader. did you not? its not complicated no need to make it into some paradox.

i also doubt author needs any such genres since they have free reign its more of an option.
i can see how my comments confused ppl. so im not going to pepper any negative insults tbh.

I have a theory, if the synopsis has abbreviations its not worth it to read, like that game getting shortened to RML. Also what is with the sad past for a dude that dies and is not even MC ..

Going to test it out and see if its worth it

Well, my idea was that if there is excessive use of these, it means author is lazy and it would break immersion a lot.

But its a game, who even says the full name of a game, if its not just a few characters, but several words or a longer word? or who says the whole thing for VRMMORPG?.. Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games..

well, Rnailo has a point within reason. without reason it would be as you stated, but some novels with unecessary abbreviation tend to ruin their book making subtle parady of other media that the author had seen and expects everyone to know. to the point he just abbreviates certain names references and segregates all his readers.

Nothing, if anything her life improves, you should read the story, it's really good. Not a masterpiece like MoL or The Perfect Run, but a better-than-average read for me at least. Some things to note, no harem, it is a VR novel so there is a bit of IRL content but most of the book is in a game, Izroth(MC) is OP but not super game-breaking. The side characters are pretty well fleshed out. MC isn't afraid to offend people and doesn't hide anything in-game. A little bit of filler but that depends on what you count as filler because no matter what's going on, the plot is being furthered or side characters get some love. There is a side story-esque part with his mother and her adventures but those chapters are few and far between. All in all good VR story

So the isekaid cultivator guy takes over the dead body of mc, and mostly plays the game? Anything like CO or White Online where real body gets enhanced somewhat or abilities transfer over?
