    The novel can not be read even with the brain off. It has too many plotholes. Because it has been rated high, I gave it too many chances. At the end, every chapter I was screaming, WHY!!! The plot is shit, at least till chap 55 where I dropped it. Too many 'coincedences' happen, he just stays in a place even though he has nothing else to gain there. Eg he has read every book at the library but still stays there while doing nothing, he also wastes 8 hours every day there because that's his 'job'. He already has money, the knowledge, and power but stays stationery. The novel currently moves only because something happens to side characters and he intervenes (solves their problem, just because of friendship). Basically the mc is a puppet swayed left and right with no purpose. It might get better later on, but come on, I am already chapter 50, till what chapter do I have to read to say 'wow, this is a good novel'. Don't waste your time on this. hokage

        Indeed it can happen. I remember my beginner days... First novel that I read was full of faceslaping, young masters, kinda cringey and full of cliches. But it was acceptable, since it was my first... blushed . However, after reading so many, you remeber almost all of the scenes and you can instanly compare a scene that you know it doesn't make sense. And yes I did try to read this with brain off, and I was speed reading it, but the mistakes were so big (my emotions really spike this days) that after reaching 2 lines below I would go back, think it over, and try to calm myself and convince me to continue, I did this several times, I even took a break in between for 4 days. Although as you said, there is the option to completely turn your brain off, but then, what's the point of me reading it. My conviction on this is very strong. When I can't find good novels, I even go on the other side.... the path of mtl.

        Thanks for the information my friend. Can you tell if there are plotholes later on? Being ruthless is good, however without a goal, and a firm will towards that goal it is pointless. Is he actively seeking to become stronger? or is he still being swayed by his 'circumstances'(friends). As long as he does those and he is acting in a smart way, that's good.       Honestly skill issue. I don't even read MTL and I'd consider this good. Read with your brain off and learn to identify the useless, repetitive rant of Chinese Novel so you can skim through these parts. It'll do wonders to preserve your mind.
      Also, no idea why it doesn't have the 'slice of life' genre because it very much so deserves it in my opinion - which is why the plot doesn't really move forward.
      Your first issue of plot holes is kinda just your own fault for being too mentally developed. The second issue of the plot itself, or lack thereof, is a mistake on either the author or website's fault. (If it had 'slice of life' genre you would've known to expect the lack of plot)

    As others have said, repetitive, but the worst is that it's all just poor quality filler now with constant repetition of information, especially from multiple characters' point of view.

    Typically webnovel/qidian zero content chapter spam.
