Absolute Masterpiece. A must-read.

This is one of the best novels that I've ever read (both English and Chinese). In my opinion, this ranks at the very top along with other novels like LoTM.

The writing quality, world background, cultivation, schemes and intrigue, fights, character development and every other aspect of this novel is absolutely unique and outstanding.

Very very good novel is all I can say. Objectively, there aren't many flaws in this novel if any at all. Subjectively however, you may not like Harem or you may not like xianxia which is in here by the way but those are all opinions and that doesnt make the novel worse or the novel better. One of the upsides of this novel is protagonist and the realistic depiction that this novel creates for xianxia although xianxia isn't very realistic in the first place lmao. The MC is a cunning and smart man who knows how to manipulate people and utilize his tools to get the best possible outcome of his plans. He is very familiar with the twisted nature of humans and knows how to exploit that. I really love this novel for it's intricate story telling and the characters involved. Give it a read

I would call this an 'honest' or slightly more 'realistic' depiction of a xianxia society. I mean the average asshole is still violently greedy, lustful, etc but they have that small amount of depth, enough that its a lot better characterisation than most xianxias (both translations and originals).

I also like the MC. MC is an asshole, knows he is an asshole, but also isn't a stupid asshole. As in he knows when he can get away with it and isn't one when he doesn't need to be. Love the cliche bashing as well when MC turns down challenges from the 'cliche protag'. Like why would anyone need validation from some random? Why should your self-confidence drop because you don't get into a fight with every asshole who picks one?

That being said, the writing is good, but the author himself is quite unreliable. Like randomly going on a several month sudden hiatus without warning/news unreliable. Done it twice so far that I know of.
