After arriving in a fantastical otherworld, Gauss acquires an adventurer’s handbook—one that allows him to grow stronger the more monsters he slays and catalogs. He originally thought he was about to embark on a classic heroic journey: slay dragons, vanquish demons, and save kingdoms.

Instead, he finds himself endlessly exterminating goblins—creatures that breed like pests and never seem to go extinct. As the goblin kill count and rewards on his monster compendium grow at an alarming rate, his face grows ever more helpless…

[You have slain 1,000 goblins! Intelligence +1, Strength +1, Constitution +1.]

[Title 『Goblin Butcher』 upgraded to 『Goblin Specialist』—you are now an expert in goblin extermination. Few know better than you how to kill goblins.]

“…”

[Title 『Goblin Specialist』 upgraded to 『Goblin Nemesis』—you are now the most terrifying oppressor in goblin history, a nightmare etched deep into their bloodline.]

[Current Effects:

Effect 1: Nemesis. Deals 50% additional damage against goblins.

Effect 2: Bloodthirst. Slaying goblins has a chance to randomly restore 10% of stamina.

Effect 3: Intimidation. You exert absolute pressure over goblins and their evolved kin, greatly weakening them in your presence.]

As the title keeps evolving on his status panel,

Gauss seriously wonders—

Is there any way to stop people from prefixing his legendary titles like “Dungeon Conqueror,” “Redscale Bane,” “Phase Hunter,” “Pale Monarch,” and “Scourge of Tiamat” with…

Novel is actually meh the main characters cheat is his Encyclopedia which for each milestone of Monsters killed and type of monsters killed for example if he killed 100 goblins 50 lizardmen and 50 kobolds he would get a reward for 100 goblins and 200 monsters killed this isn’t actually 1:1 of how the novel works but it should give you an idea the main character becomes mainly a spellcaster but how it works is an attribute system that gives him stat points based on milestones so he also uses strength weapons like swords and a rapier. Not only that but he also gets tangible rewards from milestones such as magic which is why he becomes a mage in the first place because how magic works here is it takes up tangible space within your soul like a weight put onto it so most can only learn a certain amount per mage rank but the mc can circumvent that because the rewards he gets from the system doesn’t have a limit on how much he can learn but the ones he can himself do have a limit and the characters are I guess fine? There’s an ambiguous relationship he has with an inn owner he stays at the majority of the beginning of the story before he gets his own home that goes nowhere and a team he temporarily joins as well though he does eventually create his own. He has a nice circle of connections including a retired mage he buys items from and the adventurers guild itself which has magic skills he can learn and he doesn’t fail to be heroic he won’t save everyone but he isn’t an antihero if he sees someone in need he will help anyways this is my review original comment is below

MTL is shit it’s so translated that it reads like an English novel the reason why I read MTL is so I don’t encounter translators that over translate novels but now even AI is doing it with adding words like slang or things you would only see in an English novel making me doubt if I was even reading a Chinese novel or English novel sigh there’s a reason why I quit English novels in high school

...The point of a review is you want to share your opinion with the rest of the world. If you don't care if other people read it, then why post it in the first place?

What? That thinking makes no sense im making a review because I want to simple as that I felt like my original comment had absolutely nothing to do with the novel actually but I didn’t want to cause the entire thread to be deleted so I added a review it’s simple as that I don’t care if people read it cause I did it out of necessity not any care

This will never be the world’s greatest novel, but it’s relaxing and enjoyable without being slice of life. There’s still action and life-threatening situations, but it’s basically on easy mode.

This won’t be for everyone though.

It's a good novel, the start is great, the moments of struggle are well-written for the most part too. However, the mc stops really getting into dangerous situations later on. There isn't much learning or breaking through during battle, as you'd expect. After attaining professional-rank it's basically smooth sailing except a few exciting bumps here and there.

Honestly, the talents are great but they remove almost all struggle from fights. The guy's just too overpowered to struggle and gaining amazing buffs one after another (mainly past chapter 160) really quick. There's not much fun to be had tbh.

I do still think it's a good novel though as the characters are well-written, mc is likable and hard-working. and abilities are cool, it's just the lack of struggle that's a shame.

Would rate it a 7/10, def worth a shot

I will say the story has become more enjoyable, while I did give it a rating of 7 (or 8 now) and believe the lack of tough fights + too fast growth with not much focus on transforming his abilities is a downside. The interactions between characters and as the mc exploring the world is really enjoyable and it's become a novel i check every day for updates alongside warma's work.

      it's great

This novel is good. MC is very hardworking and doesnt have any big cheat-like abilities. The ability he gains at the beginning is nothing more than a support cheat-like ability. It's not like he can just sit around and gain power. Up until where i have read (chap 135) the MC is strong, but not too strong. He's a big notch above the regular folk, but nowhere near the stronger people. His cheat-ish ability doesn't really directly give him power, either. It can increase his stats, but not always, and it is never by a huge margin. He works hard and doesn't have any negative qualities or tendencies that I can see. 8.5/10
Edit: so I have currently read to chapter 308 or so and I can confidently say that Gauss is a man who really likes his work. His powerups are perfectly paced. The time he spends at a certain level is enough that it isn't negligible but also not too boring. I also really like the fact that the side characters are not one dimensional. His teammates are great people, and they all have an amazing sense of comradeship. They aren't bitchy people who argue over, really, anything, and they all follow Gauss as their leader. They're all very nice people, in general. I have raised my rating to 9.0/10 because this book is one I genuinely enjoy reading (which really isn't a lot! (I've only got 10 bookmarks ;-; (5 of which I've already finished))).

Tbh talents are pretty busted. Any talent in itself could probably create a really strong adventure and create a path to power on its own. He gets multiple talents, one stronger than the previous one.

Of course, the author counteracts the opness of the talents by having the MC slowly develop them overtime.

Author is doing an amazing job making the MC be really strong without feeling completely broken like your average power fantasy MC.
