Friends, I'll take the liberty of recommending a new vampire novel,
    Ichor Cell
    by An Actual Kiwi
. It's written with remarkable quality, and even the secondary characters are better written than most of the main ones.
    If you've read
A Journey of Black and Red
, you'll definitely like this one, as it's much better done!

I've added this novel to the list of suggested novels on this site. If you'd like it to appear here, please give it a plus!

Since I answered one user below, I'll just copy it here aka "review"

The work is in the spirit of Japanese isekai – somewhat naive and leisurely. Meeting new people, growing, adventures. Without any grand goals. Around chapter 200, the hero simply wants to become stronger so he can survive a local disaster with his loved ones.
Despite the fact that the work is Chinese, the typical clichés are absent.

The world itself is a typical "Western fantasy," as they call it in Asia. Lustful goblins, adventurer guilds, problematic aristocrats, and all that.

Regarding the global power system... The situation is twofold. It's difficult for locals to become professionals. At least for ordinary people. And this situation is probably deliberately exaggerated by the author. But despite this, there are geniuses too. It's difficult to judge how bad it is – the action takes place in a relatively remote area, a "newbie village," if you will.

Regarding the hero system – it may seem rather weak at first, even unnecessary. A genius with a high understanding could probably handle it just as well. But the hero, like the reader, will gradually learn its merits. I won't spoil any of its properties.
Finally, MC has high levels of understanding and combat talent. So he learns very quickly even without the system. However, whether this is a hidden property of the system or a characteristic of the protagonist is difficult to say.

In summary: if you want something in the style of Japanese isekai but without excessive Japanese naivety, you can read it in an evening. But you probably shouldn't expect anything special either. There are no obvious downsides. The site where I read it has an average rating of 4/5 based on 40 reviews and anower site ~4/5 based on 200+ reviews.

📜 Starting Unlimited Evolution from Grinding
Reviewed by Daoist Inkdrunk — the Wanderer who loses brain cells for your enlightenment

Once upon a weary night, this Daoist stumbled upon a scroll titled “Starting Unlimited Evolution from Grinding.”
Ah, how those words sang to my soul! Unlimited evolution! Grinding! — two sacred terms whispered in every cultivator’s dream and every gamer’s prayer.
But alas… what awaited within was not the heavenly dao of progress..... merely the dull mortal sound of a man repeatedly punching the same goblin for fifty chapters straight.

    On Writing and World
At first glance, one might think this tale a humble, honest isekai.
A stranger arrives, finds a system, and begins his journey of improvement....the classic tale of trial and transcendence.
Yet, dear reader, the illusion breaks faster than a bamboo flute under a drunk ox’s foot.

There is no plot, merely motion.... a kind of narrative treadmill where the MC endlessly swings his sword while the heavens yawn.
Villains are painted in thick, childish brushstrokes:

“I am evil....thus I must kick puppies and seduce my guards!”

Such divine stupidity would make even the System’s circuits short-circuit.

The so-called “Goldfinger” system..... meant to be the heavenly compass of his journey.....instead becomes a lazy crutch. It tells him what to do, what to eat, and how to breathe, yet never once teaches him to think. The Daoist calls this the Path of Eternal Idiocy, where one grinds not monsters, but one’s own potential into dust.

    On Depth and Direction
By the time our hero reaches Chapter 50, he is “twice as strong as a normal man.”
    The Daoist weeps.
Was this not the Unlimited Evolution? And yet his grand reward after fifty trials is… being twice as strong as a farmer?
At this rate, immortality will arrive long after the reader’s reincarnation.

The system itself....uninspired. The world.... colorless.
One feels trapped not in another dimension, but in a looped training tutorial that never ends.
Even a true grinder would beg for mercy.

    On Characters and Relationships
Relationships here are paper lanterns in a storm...bright for a moment, hollow within.
The dialogue dances around sincerity but lands squarely in awkward caricature.
And while this Daoist does not seek romance in every tale, the author’s… creaturely preferences leave one raising a brow.
Fox girls, wolves, vampires, snakes....yet never a grounded, human bond.

Perhaps the author fears humanity itself. Or worse... does not understand it.

    On Reader Reactions and opinions:
Many fellow wanderers in the comment plains echo the same sorrow:

    “Repetitive.”
    “Directionless.”
“Could have been great, if only it had a soul.”

A few, merciful souls call it “slice of life”... but no, my friends.
This is not life. This is respawning.

    Final Reflection
Starting Unlimited Evolution from Grinding is not a journey of growth, but a manual of exhaustion.
It starts with promise, then drowns in repetition... like a monk chanting sutras he no longer believes in.
The Daoist does not despise it, for every scroll teaches something....even if that lesson is “Do not walk this path.”

And yet, to its credit, it lacks the usual arrogance of face-slapping young masters or the toxicity of racial posturing.
It is, at least, harmless mediocrity.... a dull blade rather than a poisoned one.

    Verdict
★★☆☆☆ — A grind without enlightenment. A system without soul. A promise that forgot to evolve.

Drink this scroll only if your boredom itself seeks ascension.
Otherwise, spare your lifespan....or your sanity.

    —Daoist Inkdrunk Wanderer,
sipping enlightenment from the wrong cup.
still, even this scroll cannot dull the taste of a good grind.
let the Heavens mock; I’ll keep reading till the next patch note of fate.

      On Writing and World

Let's not argue about the pace of narration - it's a matter of taste.
But why, brother Taoist, do you and some others like to cling to this single example of a rotten aristocracy, which shows (albeit clumsily) their rot/corruption, and not stupidity?
And what exactly do you mean by Goldfinger setting the direction? There are zero tasks in the system. Zero motivation. Zero intelligence.
If the MC wants to become stronger, he needs to fight and learn skills. With or without the system. A crutch? Maybe. A leash? No.

      On Depth and Direction

If an MC with a system develops slowly (don't forget that the world needs to be set up), that's bad.
If an MC with a system develops quickly, that's also bad.
      You can never please everyone.

The system, the world... They unfold. But not right away. And the issue of pacing has already been mentioned above.

      On Characters and Relationships

I won't deny the somewhat cardboard-like quality of the random characters. Perhaps it's there, but I personally am quite satisfied with their level of development. The episodic characters allow you to form a certain impression and leave before they became boring.

Your opinion on the harem also raises concerns. It's literally a "harem+fantasy" genre. How can you ignore the different races in such a setting? Of course, not if you're a purist or a racist...
If you need more reasoning... ~Chapter 200. Of the five potential harem members, three are human.

      Sum?
A review with a grain of truth. But it's somewhat superficial and perhaps overly subjective.

My comment got deleted :( .....but still i would say ...that what you said here and there at WTR are absolutely correct. And about the relationships ..it was personal rant and it was never to belittle this work. It was just a delimma that in novels Chinese protag prefer to have other race ...the main character preferring an orc-race girl, just like in most Chinese stories... so far, the plot is interesting, with a slow but progressing pace. However, a clear weakness of this story is the lack of balance between the main character’s power and that of the NPCs... the gap feels too big. The story starts becoming less engaging because of its repetitiveness.

Thanks for sharing your view on this...honestly, I’m just a one-woman (or one-person) kind of guy and the harem aspect is the main thing that usually puts me off these stories. I understand it's popular in this genre and the diversity of races can be interesting, but personally, it doesn't appeal to me that much. Despite that, I still end up reading because other parts of the story catch my interest. Everyone has their own preferences, and for me, less harem is better... but I can still enjoy the adventure if the rest is good.
