Can someone explain what the game Cultivation Online or if you have any theories? I thought it may be an actual world and the previous reincarnation or a god or something gave the people of earth the opportunity to ascend their conscious to this world, but then when the MC recovers and practices and stuff, everything becomes nerfed. For example the movement technique the phoenix gave him and he couldnt even dodge a girl with a lower cultivation than himself? Also Im really curious on how strong his martial techniques he learned from the game are in the actual world. The only one he has used is the flying daggers and he said the speed is the same as paper airplanes which is significantly worse ccompared to CO. Normally in these types of novels when someone uses a technique in a lower realm the technique becomes even stronger and will do more damage but once he became a cultivator in the real world the amount of energy or qi and the strength he is able to use is similar to that of Volcanic age and Return of mount hua. they are both good but when he's inside CO the strength that he can use is like something similar to a martial Peak novel so i have absolutely no idea what CO is but i really dont want it to be obsolete to the story, i want it to be an actual place and the people he has met be actually out there

I'm not writing on the topic, it's just the most popular novel on the site. In general, such a request, throw good novels OP MC, everything with Male MC and without NTR will be great.

Does the main character develop? I have read approx 30 chapters and due to how bland and dumb the characters have I had to drop it so do tell me if the characters have developed in later chapters

A lot of people complain about the MC's "character development". They tend to ignore that he is actually developing, learning and adapting. They also tend to ignore that for the majority of that "OMG why isn't he developing?" 700 chapters, only about 2 months have passed. How much development can you expect after 2 months?

Furthermore, it's obvious that when the majority of them complain about "character development" what they're actually complaining about is that he's not a typical xanxia MC (if he's not eager to faceslap and murder, he's clearly lacking in character). Until he fits that fully generic trope, they're left unsatisfied and feel it's their duty to constantly complain about a lack of "character development."

If you actually consider the MC's real-life circumstances and experiences, the rate at which he's developing is perfectly reasonable.

It is not the character development, it's the circumstances he is in, around where I dropped is where the child hood friend arrives and it has a forced romance, I also not saying anything about character development being bad, I say that the authors quality of writing is bad, this and that happens and the mc gains op stuff he doesn't understand because of his naive character, the servants are constantly there, doing everything, it would have been better had he been left alone to wander, contemplate, loose, and fight to get to where he is and experience character development. He is supposed to understand the world and suffer for his inexperience to learn and develop, but out of nowhere he becomes extremely op, he has lots of op servants, he gets a lot of op stuff, not to mention 700 chapters for only 2 months, how small are the chapters or how much fller stories has the outhor put for just 2 months to pass in 700. chapters. Although I said all this about character development, I had no problem with it, my problem was the forced romance that came out of no where, ooooh she is a child hood friend, that doesn't matter, the romance is still forced not to mention girls start liking him left and right, his servant in the real world, also likes him, his adopted sister, and so on in the cultivation world, that doesn't make sense as they come without a basis. The romance part is done very badly and feels forced not to mention this will surely end up with a harem. I don't know about you but for me harems are a huge turn-off.

I read a short story the other day, only 2 days have passed for 370 chapters inside the story. That's what I call bad writing. The story literally stands still there, even the basic initial goal has not been fulfilled to free the starting city from the tyrant.)))

There was an author( I don't remember his name) wrote a book, in the book 50 pages ware dedicated to describing a dress. 1 singular dress and he was pretty famous and judged as a good author by many.

I'm sorry to dissapoint you but he was a celebrated author of the romance period(around it think it's start or end I'm not sure or was it the realism period) this was way before the internet.

People not liking the slow character development is perfectly normal. People say he changes around chapter 700 and there's about 1000 chapters out now. That's slow growth for anyone binging it in the present, excruciating for anyone whos been reading since the early days. Lol, imagine watching a movie/anime and someone says "keep going it gets good 2/3rds of the way in" puke

Again, it's not slow relative to the timeline. What they call "slow" is entirely based on the fact they don't like his naivete. They want a different MC. Or, as I put it above, they want a more generic MC.

They aren't concerned at all for consistency or story-telling. They aren't concerned about whether what they want is relevant or realistic. Because, realistically, without artificially accelerating the MC's development, there is no way he could develop faster than he does. If he had, it would have felt forced.

Think about it: Someone who became a slave at the age of 3, blind at the age of 7, completely paralyzed at the age of 12 (I believe), received almost no formal education; and only had a sister, a few maids, and a doctor to interact with that entire time; these readers expected this person to act like a typical 18 year old. If the story didn't artificially accelerate his progression for plot-related reasons, it should have taken him years to recover from that. And, from my own perspective, the MC's naivete was a charming quality. He wasn't at all unlikable.

What the readers wanted wasn't to watch this MC's growth. They wanted a completely different MC. "Character development" had nothing to do with it.

Dude Yuan never had low emotional intelligence. This is highlighted by how he figured out why he was adopted (to bring income to his adoptive family). The fact that the author tried to play him as being "naive" is insulting to our intelligence. He might be ignorant of certain things but he is not naive. Him behaving like a 12 year old makes no sense.

Being able to figure out something as basic as "I'm being used" is not the same as having a robust understanding of social norms. Most of his interactions with people before he became completely cripple were as a preteen. Other than the passive learning he'd inevitably gain from interacting with his sister, doctors, and maids, his understanding of people comes mostly from a child's perspective.

Perhaps you vastly underestimate how much of an impact being a teenager interacting normally with other teenagers has on a person's development. Just take, for example, kids who don't get that; like kids who are homeschooled. They tend to be very awkward and struggle to understand other people their age. The MC would be an extreme case of that in all the worst ways. It is literally impossible for him to act like a normal 18 year old.

I am around chapter 700 hoping for character development but mc is still dumb, chapters are short and literally 95 % of people he met till now are female and most of them are in love with him but he is still so dumb so i am dropping this novel

well i agree with you he was quite annoying at that time but if you have waited for few more chapters then you would be in for a surprise as his character and personality will be totally flipped.

Man, I dropped this around 400 or something just checking how many chapters now. Already 1000, crazy. I wonder if the MC is still a clown and if even half those new chapters have substance.

Well there is character development in MC and he is not so naive now anymore but he can still be annyoing sometimes.

At first the novel showed promise because w got to see so e nice cliches but then it took a turn for the worst as the mc was very dense for nearly 3 to 400 chapters but the mc is raring to gain common sense and act his age so if u have patience this story is that bad
